For many people being "conservative" or "liberal" means checking ALL the boxes in some imaginary "official" list, and you are not supposed to take political issues à la carte. These people seems not to comprehend that one can be pro unchecked abortion yet against unchecked immigration, or pro taxing the rich yet against Big Government. There is no inconsistency, and the imaginary checklist changes all the time anyway. To be an capital A Atheist, somehow one must care more about the plight of women in Muslim countries over the poor, poor white woman being accosted in an elevator.
