Speaking of which, what does Bob think of Avatar? I ask because, I rewatched it recently in preparation for the new one, and a few things stood out to me that made me think of how contrary they are to Bob’s worldview:

- The Na’vi accept the protagonist into their tribe because he has a warrior’s spirt, as opposed the cold and rational scientists who attempted and failed to gain their trust before due to their disposition preventing them from truly understanding their ways. He’s also not presented as being a particularly learned guy, much to the disappointment of Sigourney Weaver’s scientist character, who was expecting his PhD twin brother instead. However, his non-scientist perspective is what allows him to fully adapt to the Na’vi way of life and make further progress in gaining their trust than anyone has before. This runs contrary to Bob’s worldview that places intelligence as the highest moral virtue.
- The Na’vi’s deity, Eywha, is presented as a real being with a Will of her own, and answers the protagonist’s call for help in the final battle. In other words, the Na’vi are a bunch of filthy believers fighting against a technologically advanced, materialistic conglomerate.

Something tells me if Bob existed in the Avatar universe, he’d definitely side with the RDA.

One of my lifelong friends was a raging alcoholic in his 20s. Not a really bright guy, didn't finish college or do well in school to begin with. He sobered up when he was 30. Due to spending his 20s drunk, his skills were "jack" and "shit." Anyway, he managed to get on with a utility company, doing some kind of menial job. I just caught up with him after 6 or 7 years, and he's got himself a respectable white-collar job, a house, a wife, and two kids.
