I don't pity Bob for the same reason I don't pity Boogie. Both are disgusting men who wallow in their own filth because they choose to, not because they have to. Bob hates the Mayoghoulen and everyone else because it excuses his own sloth. He needs a reason to hate everyone, or he'd have to acknowledge that he's a lazy, entitled piece of shit who does nothing but post hot takes online all day.
With zero work history and zero skills, he could still get off his ass and get a job at a gas station or Wal-mart. Since the typical adult employee at those place is either elderly or stoned, if he stuck with it for a year or two, and actually made some effort at being a good employee, he'd find himself on the promotion track by the simple fact of being the only employee who shows up on time and not high.
But he's too lazy and too entitled to do that. If his mother forced him to get a job, he'd get fired within a week because when he wasn't being a smug cunt, he'd be on his phone. And when told to work, he'd scream at his boss that he's THE Movie Bob, respected Blue Check on Twitter.
I guess it's just the Christian in me ( ironic sine Bob wants me wiped off the face of the map). Still you two have valid points. He is loathsome, hates everyone, thinks he's the greatest, completely entitled, and yet if he just set his mind to it, he could break through that crap. I guess I just see him like Gollum; a monster at heart, but a pitiable one, however, just like the LOTR character, the man is beyond redemption unless he decides it so. You would have thought Lindsay would have been the wake up call, sadly not. For the forseeable future, eugenics Bob will think he is the ruler of all, when he rules Nothing.Bob absolutely does not deserve pity. He's an overgrown child who uses schoolyard bullying as a justification for being a spiteful, hate-fueled creature. If he had a shred of power he would abuse it and hurt as many people who didn't fit his world-view as possible. Yet he lacks the self awareness or introspection to notice this, he genuinely believes himself to be the good guy. His moral development stems entirely from children's films and tv shows, and he never matured the nuance to pick apart why certain things are good or bad. Only that, if you are the protagonist, you are good.
He has never developed any skills, his profession is just outlining movie plots while saying whether he liked it or not, and usually for the most superficial reasons. He has no depth or drive, and he is either unaware that doing better is a possibility, or he has no intention to. He will never get anywhere beyond his tiny corner of the internet. Where even the ones he tries hardest to be a part of despise him. He's back in school, being an outcast loser that nobody likes, who they have to tolerate simply because he's there.
It's been said many times and it's true, Bob's punishment for being Bob Chipman, is being Bob Chipman. He is exactly where he belongs. The fact that he could do better if he tried, but never will, just cements that. (Although it would be more just if he wasn't getting so much Patreon money)
