I doubt this because I don't think anyone has ever told Bob he's smart. I think the origin story is that someone, likely a children's TV show, told Bob that people who do well in school will become great people who are eternally rewarded and he believed this and applied it to his Sunday Catholic School teachings about sinners and saints. This is the last point where Bob had any intellectual development regarding any philosophy. Later on he learned a little about eugenics by accident and fastened this to it. He pretty clearly states that he believes that the Believers (98% of the global population) are malicious people deliberately inflicting their stupidity on the Thinkers (a natural but also self-selected 2% of the global population) because they refuse to "evolve" out of the way like they were supposed to in Bob's lifetime. Bob explains away his being a racist white cishet male virgin who creeps on women by claiming he "bettered" himself into the Thinker class by attending college and becoming an internet reviewer of popular movies, he regularly explains that others failure to do this is a deliberate malicious act because Bob himself achieved it despite being disadvantaged by birth. Bob fought Natural Selection by himself and won, so others have no excuse. This makes them cruel and shows they've forfeited their humanity.
