All of us STEM students (at least in my state) are forced to take a certain number of humanities courses, though it has been a fairly long time since I attended college so it may have changed since then. Such courses were a nice break from spending long hours in the lab, trying to complete coursework (especially on my group project where one of the other members of the group decided he wasn't going to do any work). It was also nice to attend classes that had women in them for a change.

Here's the thing, though, does Bob imagine we're all gullible imbeciles like him? Thankfully my professors weren't the weirdos I've seen on the news or on Twitter but it didn't matter what their politics were, they wouldn't sway me from conclusions I've come to on my own.

That and IMO growing shit on petri dishes, centrifuging DNA/RNA, running PCRs and dissecting fish in lab was more fun than sitting through the humanities have to read shit about "decolonize ur mind" by disgruntled poets...

When my buddy got hit in the eye with a wild piece of steel, that flew under his safety glasses (we wear those for a fucking reason) both me and my co worker sprung into action, explained the situation to our overseer for the night, and in ten minutes, I was driving my friend in his truck to the hospital. And let me tell you, it aint pretty to see a needle shoved in someones eye, nor stitches. He took us out for burgers as thanks, which has now become a weekly thing. I couldn't imagine that level of support from a film critic.

So, for those not in the know, "Troon" is a portmaneau of "Trans" and "Goon". That's because the term and phenomenon originated with Lowtax's SomethingAwful forums. Forum members on SA were known as "Goons". A ton of them became trans (including a person I know about in other contexts), thus they (collectively) became known as "Troons". IDK whether the term originated ON SA or whether someone on 4chan or CWCwiki forums or elsewhere coined it (I'm damn sure that it became a thing before the farms existed in its current state and also I had heard the term before I ever came on these farms). I guess now the definition has broadened to anyone who "troons out" regardless of whether they're a goon on SomethingAwful, or not.

Just out of curiosity, did the doctors save your co-worker's eye? I can certainly empathize with him since I've had issues that nearly cost me my right eye--functionally, if not physically--at least twice in the past twenty-some years. The first was in 2000 when the retina in my right eye detached itself from the cornea, and it was saved when an ophthalmologist injected gas into my eye via needle (not a particularly pleasant feeling). The second was in 2014 after an ATVing mishap damaged the lower orbital muscle in the right eye, resulting in a double vision with a 20° vertical discrepancy in my eyes' lines of sight (which improved slightly to 15° without further intervention); it was later resolved with surgery 1.5 years after the incident. I still experience temporary double vision, but only either after waking up from sleep or looking downward.
