I know that, as has been said, it's more likely that Bob was just too lazy to take down his mother's Jesus pic, or move it somewhere else, but imagine if he became reborn? We know Bob is afraid of his own mortality, likely because he doesn't believe in an afterlife and so is afraid of just rotting in the dirt, so he prays to the superior future to give him a robot body that will let him live forever. But that's not going to happen. Even his brain is too complex for the process to work properly.
So, what's the only alternative? Accept sky daddy back into his heart and throw all his chips in that there is life after death and he can continue on to a world where he'll actually be able to live out his dreams.
