Why does Bob assume that the "Raiders" in the title refers to Indy, and not the literal Nazis that were stealing the Ark of the Covenant? Talk about being bad at media analysis.
I guess Bob didn't realize it meant the Nazis, and assumed it meant Indy and whoever happened to be tagging along with Indy. I mean, the fucking title of the movie is
Indiana Jones AND the Raiders of the Lost Ark, NOT "
Indiana Jones IS a Raider of the Lost Ark along with his buddies and some random woman". Besides, Bob should fucking know better. Whenever a book - or movie - has a title like "Title Character and the X (where X is a person or civilization rather than an object)", the X is 98% guaranteed to be the ANTAGONISTS. Nobody reads the title "
Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves" and interprets that as "Ali Baba is the 41st Thief". Same with most any Tarzan novel title that follows this formula. There are exceptions to this basic rule (
Tarzan and the Golden Lion, for instance). And this potato brained blue curtain analyst has the nerve to accuse others of being bad at media analysis?
EDIT: Oh shit, I forgot that when it first came out in theaters, the movie title was simply
Raiders of the Lost Ark. Anyone who watched the damn movie would KNOW that the "raiders" aren't Indy and the gang, it's the Nazis. Indy is trying to STOP the Nazis from raiding the lost Ark of the Covenant. So it's not like with the golden idol in Peru, where Indy is searching for the thing and goes to get it. So bob has even LESS reason to assume that Indy IS a "raider of the lost ark". Hell, it's the movie where the damn "TOP. MEN." meme comes from.
Remember: Bob thinks he makes himself look more clever by jumping straight ahead to the "higher level" jokes than ever bothering to build up to them.
I think Bob's mentioned "
My uncle who works at Nintendo" before but I'm assuming it was a "joke" then and a "joke" now. I don't think he ever expected anyone to take it seriously? Gawd, Bob fails at jokes so hard.
He's got to see everything as a fight and can't ever just be chill and realize you can grease a lot more rails by being friendly and nice to people.
Bob's main problem outside his autistic narcissism is his internalization of Bawstuhn culture whereupon he believes as a denizen of Boston
's outlying suburbs he has a skydaddy-given right to be a Masshole. I maintain it's something in the
beer water. It HAS to be. (Definitely the beer, if Daddy Chipman thought it was cute to give 3-year-old Bob sips out of beer cans. Bob may not have full-blown FAS, but a key symptom of FAS is TARD RAGE).
Of course New Hampshire's
SB272 is an anti-grooming bill. Let the teachers diddle your kids, and shut up: you are clearly not the pedophile here.
The generalization of the tweet that parents writ large are incompetent teachers is a nice scapegoat. IIRC, kids were getting schooling over Zoom, which would have included (gasp!) a Teacher! Kid's grades could have slipped for any number of reasons, including:
- Depression over pandemic which was a result of not being able to hang with friends or go places
- Maybe some parents are lax, but they would be anyway because not all parents are good (see: Cluster B Clusterfucks who never care about their kid, regardless of who's teaching them).
- feeling like School doesn't fucking matter because COOF (or Global Warming, take your pick) means the END OF THE WORLD so fuck it
I feel that the rep is complaining about homeschooling, which is entirely separate to this issue.
"What if fire and water have human faces?" is not original or creative.
I'm surprised Bob didn't figure out that "
Elemental" is basically "
Inside Out" but with elementals instead of emotions. It's about as original as
Warcraft Final Fantasy Dungeons & Dragons. Never mind that
Inside Out itself is basically a ripoff of
Herman's Head.
These are the lyrics to the chorus of Haven't Been Doing So Well by some guy named Frank Turner
BTW tor's being stupid with the media embeds from youtube again.
He and his fuck up brother and possibly his sister tried to get a guy fired from his podcasting job for making fun of Bob's book, specifically Bob leaving his grandma's funeral to play nintendo, but they were too stupid to realize that that guy was the owner of the podcast so they were trying to get him to fire himself.
Oh yes, one of the famous instances of Bob going nuclear because someone attacked "my famileeee" (dead grandma is somehow besmirched by being associated with buying an air conditioner/playing vidja games and thus missing the funeral, which Bob mentioned IN HIS OWN DAMN BOOK, so it's not like it wasn't fair game but holy shit, this mafia-esque mentality the Chipmans seem to have in regards to bullshit like this is over the top NUTS). I mean sure, he didn't ackshually skip grandma's funeral to play a vidja. I'm sure most people are JOKING when they say that unless they weren't properly informed that it was ackshually about a damn air conditioner. But does it really matter in the grand scheme of things? No, no it fucking doesn't, because a person could believe that Bob would skip a funeral to play Super Mario on the Nintendo Machine.
Although, if they managed to rope Caty chipman into that disaster (I think maybe ackshually a cousin but not sure), it proves not only is she a bit more exceptional than originally thought, but she has the same broken "DEFEND DA FAMILEEEE" mafia-type attitude likely originating from their alcoholic, possibly covert-narcissist father that her two brothers are completely and wholly invested in.
I noticed there was a "Marry me!" response to Bob's pixels review in the New Yorker article. Seeing as that went fucking nowhere, I wonder if the person regretted it or found to their chagrin they had to soft-block Bob more than 6 times.
Is that person being cross-eyed on purpose for the Lulz? Because if not...
A lot of these people got into writing, because they thought it would be easy, and allow them to afford the life they think they deserve. On top of that so many of them got hired to make writing rooms "diverse."
Yeah, a pile of them wanted to cash in while writing dreck that they think will change people's minds to accept commiesocialism15minutecities.
