The CFO is right, studios have been paying out the ass for all these prestige projects that have practically been given away, and in the current crowded market of streaming services, that's not translating into profit. Or, and here's a thought: maybe he likes it because it's actually entertaining, fun, and respects the source material? Y'know, everything that Disney Wars isn't? I also don't think there are going to be any issues with fucking it up, considering how closely Oda has been involved with the production to ensure they don't stray too far from the established story. This is always just a pretense by these people. When Japanese put canonically alphabet people in their stuff, they still have a problem with it because they don't like how they are portrayed. It's not enough to have the alphabet people, they have to be written the way Western alphabet sensitivity readers demand.

That said, I won't be surprised if they do something like that with Netflix One Piece, since they will likely have sensitivity readers making sure the portrayal is politically correct.
