I've had much the same experience, and from what I've always been told, the trick these days is to just fucking do it. Go on youtube, and start making content. Dubs, shitposts, it literally doesn't matter. Once you have a large enough portfolio, you can start sending that around. Supposedly, that's how Gianni Matragrano got started. You may know him both as the voice of Gabriel from Ultrakill, as well as the guy behind the Spike Spiegel 'I love a woman who will actually just fucking kill me' shitpost.

I was also told moving to Texas or Commiefornia to get closer to the voice-work population centers would help, which is where I quit, but that might not be as needed these days.
