A little humility would go a long way, but I can't imagine him ever developing any.
Humility requires admitting the ability to be at fault, to do less than perfect. Bobs so charged with targeted hate that his entire worldview would implode if he took any sort of responsiblity for anything around him, rather than blaming it on his perceived enemies.
I mean, for fucks sake, he blames Trump for his business going to shit? Really, Bob, you blame Trump for presiding over what was a widespread period of public interest in small media reviewers, somehow making you fail? Even if we accept some roundabout arguing that Trump single handedly induced the fight against Wokeness in media and the associated commentary space, that space still Printed Fucking Money for both sides of the argument. Accepting that premise means that Trump made the media review space profitable for small players again in a way it hadn't been for decades. Because really, who actually cared all that much about movie review politics pre-2016 or so? They existed, but they weren't a battleground or concerning thing, it was rare to think "I better watch all the reviews from the critics I agree with to make sure that its not [subject]", a movie review was a movie review, and outside of arthouse film festival shit, you could read most any and get an idea of whether something was good or not.
Bob was active and frankly more engaged than ever in the culture war at the exact time that being so was a hugely profitable venture for everyone in his preferred field of work. And yet, he managed to fucking squander that, getting absolutely nowhere with it. As the conversations around modern media became more relevant, he chose that time to start focusing more of his production on the "In Bob We Trust" shit rather than focusing on the media. By the time Trump left office, the content cadence and quantity of media content was immense among his supposed competitors, with people regularly producing reviews for entire episodes of individual shows. He responded to this audience desire for fresher content, produced in more timely manners, by shoving his thumb up his ass and 'remastering' old reviews that are all but irrelevant. The entire time, he failed to update how he produced content, both stylistically and technologically, to recent terminal effects as it finally starts shitting the bed.
Anyone could sit down for 15 minutes, thinking about their career and come to most of the same conclusions and realize they need to change how they're working. And you really, really should, its super important to self reflect and not lock yourself into an endless grind when you're doing any sort of work, self employed or not. The fact Bob has not done so, across adpocalypses and patreon scares and video takedowns, for a decade now, speaks volumes to his thought process or lack thereof.
Bob really, genuinely seems to believe that just doing something should guarantee success, that because he has chosen to make his life dependent on this and has declared himself to be good at this, that he should be at the top of the pile, eventually, because it'll be his turn. He turns his nose up to actively ignore the work everyone else puts in, because its easier to just scoff at someone like the critical drinker than it is to realize that it takes quite a bit of effort and time management to produce content at the quality and quantity he does, in the timelines he delivers it in, while also fitting in the social networking he does. Its easier for Bob to just lazily remaster something, say thats work for the day, and go back to rotting in his mothers basement, passing another day closer to when he gets what he is so obviously owed. Any day now, he'll get it. Any day now...
