Here's something for you Tolkien nerds to smoke on. For the record I don't buy Tolkien's assertion that, because he abhorred allegories and was adept to detect the presence of allegories in other people's works, LoTR does not contain allegorical or topical themes.
I need to focus on something here, because it demonstrates a sense of priorities that verges from merely warped to utterly monstrous. Some of you may have missed it, or are unfamiliar with the reference (which is understandable, given that Bob belches up obscure references left and right to look more clever than he is).
It's this:
"The Potter lady just said 'Hold my beer' to Marion Zimmer Bradley."
Marion Zimmer Bradley is the author of a famous fantasy novel called
The Mists of Avalon. It's a feminist take on the Arthurian legend where the female characters, especially Morgan le Fay, are the real movers and shakers. It's highly sexualized, with lots of pagan rituals involved. It was a gigantic hit and considered not just an important fantasy novel but an important work of feminism. Bradley's stature from having written it cannot be overstated. She has since suffered a decline in esteem, just as JK Rowling (the Potter lady) has seen happen.
Here's the difference. JK Rowling is on the outs with the woke because she resolutely will not accept the idea that trans women are women and trans men are men, to the point she's spoken out in support of a UK civil servant who was fired for also not sharing that idea. Every time she opens her mouth on gender, it causes a medium size shitstorm on Twitter, because she never seems to bend, no matter how angry they get. If your favorite blue hair screech owl is calling JKR a TERF, this is why.
Marion Zimmer Bradley, on the other hand, has fallen from her pedestal because she was a child molestor. Or at least she
facilitated child molestation, that committed by her husband, Walter Breen. Breen was a long time pedophile and a well known predator in the SF/fantasy community, to the point that he was ultimately banned from several conventions (and this is a community with a long history of tolerating perverts). Breen's behavior is a matter of record; he was convicted several times and actually died in prison. MZB is alleged by her children not just to have molested them herself, but to have covered up Breen's behavior. Much of it was tied in with the pagan sexual libertinism featured in her writing.
That is who Bob is claiming JK Rowling has outdone, simply by not bowing to the trans agenda.
He really is a disgusting, disgusting individual, even when he's not trying very hard to be.
