It wouldn't have been done for his father.

"Hmm, yeah. I was a sperm inside him when he earned that. Seeing his vet medallion really makes me feel proud to have been there for Mr. C. I've definitely seen more than those DANG MALE TROLLS in their basements can ever imagine. Hmph."

The only medallion Chris wants to put on Bob's crypt is a Sonuchu one made of Crayola FUCKING Model magic.

This to me looks like a cheap burial, it certainly would be by UK standards. A plot in a cemetary with a casket burial and a headstone and stuff costs a ton of money, a cremation and a burial in a mausoleum is peanuts by comparison. If it's anything like the UK that hole in the wall is only his for a limited amount of time as well before his and her ashes are scattered in the grounds and the plot is available again. As a side note: Impressed this has gotten this far without being a "What happens when Barb dies?" Thread. (Don't turn it into one now by quoting this)

I'm not a funeral expert, but a bit of quick Googling suggests that the cost of mausoleum interment and traditional burial in the US are about equivalent, probably because we have more land available for burial plots, and I know culturally it isn't regarded as a cheap option. (Not particularly common, outside of states with enough swampland that in-ground burial is a bad idea, but not cheap.) I guess you could see buying one interment niche for two people's cremated remains as cheap, but the real cheapo option in America is generally considered to be cremation without any interment. Bob's arrangements may not be absolutely top-of-the-line, but if Barb had really intended to cheap out, she could very well have just taken Bob's ashes home in a cardboard box and chucked 'em into the hoard.

Great, now I depressed myself.

He was in his 60s when Chris was born.

Actually, Bob was in his 50s then. But still, points taken.

Edit: Just looking at this early photo though, he looks older than that.

I know that what I'm about to say is going to rankle some people, but please bear with me.... Sometimes I wonder about the nature of Chris missing Bob. Does he genuinely miss him, or does he miss Bob taking on the roles that Chris is now responsible for since is death (bills, being Barb's errand boy. etc.)? Maybe it's a combination of the two.

Yeah, I know this sounds cold and awful, but prior to Bob's death there was very little indication that Chris felt anything for him (please correct me if I'm off-base here). Based on some of the "Classic Chris" videos and emails, it can be intuited that Chris had a rather contentious relationship with Bob. The old Christmas video was very telling as well, with Chris and Barb sitting across from Bob (Chris's arm around Barb's shoulder). The body language in that video spoke volumes.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting things because I'm not making allowances for Chris being autistic - I don't know.

Anyway, just throwing this out there. I'm interested in hearing other people's thoughts on this.
Well, to put it bluntly, Chris is an ungrateful little shit. We didn't hear a huge amount about the good times with Bob because as far as Chris was concerned, that just meant everything was working as it should be. I don't get the impression they were exactly close, but I think he did love him, in his childish way.

True. Also, while Chris does yammer about useless stuff, there is a bias towards stuff that he thinks will get him respect or pity. There are probably tons of times where they just hung out chatting for a while, but those were pleasantly mundane and lost to Christory.

No, it's not like it is in the UK. There's a whole lot of speculation about burial stuff in this thread, but no one actually saying anything that actually happens in real life. "Well, it's Chris, so Bob must be in a cardboard box with five cats in that hole." No.

Yes, Chris and his family don't have a lot of money and they don't seem too smart. No, this is not inherently a cheap burial, but it also comes back to personal beliefs about what to do with the body after death, and we don't know how Bob really felt outside of the filter of Chris. Depending on the cemetery, the mausoleum can be a more expensive option. Plenty of wealthy and/or famous folks choose this "wall" option as well. Don't let your perception of Chris make you assume and say stupid things.

Overall, I like the memorial. When Chris passes, I propose a fund be created to have the most beautiful plot on a hill selected, with a statue erected of Clown-shirt Chris and a memorial stand playing all the Chis videos non-stop.The base can have the inscribed quote "y'all should know me by now" and list all of Chris' pseudonyms. A small Sonichu statue should accompany it.

Its kind of sad to think that there is a room for Bard in Bob's burial place.

I do wonder if there is enough room for both Bard and the hoard in there.

She will just throw Bob away to make room for the hoard. That's the one thing that can get tossed. Bob's charred carcass. I am sure he appreciates it as well.

The only reason Bob was cremated was so that his rotting carcass wouldn't become a part of the hoard probably. They would have propped him up in the living room like it was one of those Egyptian tombs. Bob would have been a q-sand coaster and Barb's version of Chris' Officer Nasty.

Yeah, I feel like people are trying way, way too hard in this thread to make this somehow Barb and Chris's fault, when in any other context it wouldn't be unreasonable at all. Like I said before, it's not top-of-the-line, but it's ridiculous to judge people's love for their family members based on how much money they dump into the bottomless pit of funeral expenses -- and a lot of people choose options designed to lessen funeral expenses for their surviving loved ones. Who's to say Bob didn't?

Getting a mausoleum niche vs. an in-ground plot isn't crazy; being interred along with your spouse isn't crazy or clingy or whatever the fuck people want to say Barb is now (it's actually very traditional); cremation isn't crazy. I know people are desperate to find ways to make Barb and Chris the villains who ruined Bob's life and afterlife, but we have no evidence that they actually disrespected his wishes, and there's nothing undignified about the crypt on its face.

It is worth noting that Bob left them quite a lot of money, it was only when they pissed it all away on Chris' legal misadventures that they wound up poor. And while Chris and Barb are both dreadful representatives of our species, I don't honestly think they held Bob in so little esteem that they'd just go for the cheap option.
