Boomers with no conception of a past or future outside themselves started building vacation homes there in the 70s and it all snowballed from there. Insurance companies have to insure the houses because they were already built decades ago, but it is quite likely they are far more stringent about new houses. You would think given how many boomers are religious or pretend to be, they would at least recall a famous Christian parable about not building on sand.......
Boomers in my parents' shore town be like "3 million for a house on the barrier island jacked 14 feet into the air on stilts whose stairs I won't be able to get up in 5 years? Sign me up!"

What is with boomers’ ina-fucking-bility to walk on the sidewalk? My goddamn taxes pay for them to tear up and relay perfectly good sidewalk every five years in this town yet they’re only ever in the goddamn road (not even walking against traffic).

Boomers seem to follow their own system of izzat, where they think that inconveniencing you without you retaliating against them is some sort of win for them. It's the same psychological mechanism that makes jeets steal asphalt as it's being laid down in their turd-world villages.

Boomers are letting their summer homes fall in the ocean for free money. They only get a payout if it falls in the ocean and are incentivized to build on the ocean as a result.
So this is actually not as clean cut of a situation that it may be made out to be and there are two things in particular to consider.

1) The difference between REPLACEMENT COST and then MARKET VALUE. You can't insure land, there is nothing to insure! You can have a liability policy, that's only going to protect you if someone sues you (make sure to put posted signs up if you own farm land to prevent bullshit hunting accidents). In some markets, for example California, New York, parts of Florida, etc. the market value is far greater than the cost it will take to build a house. There currently isn't "gap coverage" for home loans, so when those fires tore through cali a lot of people essentially got fucked out of a lot of the value in their homes, as their payout is tied to the re-build of their home, NOT the value of their loan. BUUUUT, in poorer/rural states (think WV, SC, KY, GA, MS, KS, parts of FL, etc.) replacement cost is going to FAR OUTWEIGH MARKET VALUE. I'd insure homes that were selling for around $125k for easily $200k replacement all the time. We joked about how we would commit insurance fraud regularly as "there ain't no cameras out in the country". Boomer might fuck themselves by buying expensive shore-front property that's replacement cost is going to be lower than their loan, thus making them owe the bank in event of total loss.

2) Tropical cyclone coverage is an optional coverage in some states. So, boomer in their endless drive for CHEAP FUCKING SHIT might cheap out, not buy the coverage, and then get fucked when a hurricane is determined to be the cause of their home floating away. I've never sold in those states, but my friends have had some stories. You'd be a real asshole not to write that coverage for your customer.

---

I closed down a boomer today, 1-call, 1-close like my name suggests. It was exactly the scenario I explained in the above post. The guy was making $1,100, because his wife died and they took away her check. He's on medicaid, because his home doesn't count as an asset, basically has jack and shit saved and complains that he doesn't have enough money to live... he has better fucking healthcare than me for fucking free, because he is on medicaid. Nice little claw-back for your boy!

---

Also, at some point I'm going to have share my life insurance boomer stories. Fuck life insurance (never buy a whole life, only buy a term and invest the rest).... again, the agency I worked with skewed older, so P&C was mostly what we did because life for old fucks is impossible to sell because it so expensive. You'd get boomers with diabetus and hart problems wondering why $100,000 life insurance policy was $2,000 a month. YOU ARE 70 FUCKING 8 YOU RETARD. That price is actually fucking cheap.

I say the same thing when boomers call me. To get any maintenance done on the houses, this one guy needed his siding repaired and I went there and there was so many goddamn holes in the siding look like Swiss cheese. I told the guy, it's gonna be like.$25,000 to fix it or 20,000 to replace it?
Then he started back in my day. Shit, I was like, dude, back in your day, you probably bought this house for 5 cents and a box of Cracker Jacks. It's gonna be $20,000. For new siding or 25 to fix it.

When the guy said a Mexican guy said he could do for 10, I was like OK, he's gonna do a bad job, hire the Mexican, you White. trader. My price is still 20,000 to replace the siding.

And I told him the difference is I'm a certified installer for most of the Siding products and I actually get you the warranty.

He could not understand that concept of a warranty on material. And as long as it's installed properly.

I did get the job. I had to give the guy $300 off. I don't know who haggles over $300, but apparently boomers.

Also, I don't know what it is with Boomers, but I don't have to chase younger people down for checks. I literally had to call this guy five times to get the. Last $2000 of retainage on his house.

Then when I showed up, he was surprised that I was showing up to his house, even though he emailed me to come pick up the check. And then he had to go all the way to the bank. To go get the check.

Because apparently boomers don't understand the concept of, you know, wiring someone money. Or any type of Service that instantly can get someone paid through a credit card or the bank account Or anything like that.
And here's the thing. I have software that gives you a whole receipt and all the paperwork if you pay me through that. Instead of me having to print every fucking thing out for you.

And I get some people on actual paperwork. But having things on the cloud makes it much easier to use and then later redeem your warranty.

Also another thing is every single old customer, some of them are generally really nice, but some of the older boomer men just sit there and talk to me about how good they were at XY and Z trade back in the day and sit there and prevent me from working 'cause I don't wanna drop shit on the dumb fat. Dysgenic. Heads.

This is on the Outer Banks, which is a barrier island that is "temporary" from a geological point of view. Basically a pile of sand that appears/moves/disappears based on ocean conditions. Hence the coastline is always shifting. Early settlers centuries ago knew this, and didn't build permanent structures on/near the shore.

like 15 years ago my girlfriend's family lived in pensacola and we stayed in some fancy airbnb beach house thing. pretty much every piece of furniture was flood-proof and half of the buildings look like they were built in the 60's and 70's, and they only existed as pointlessly oversized vacation destinations. I don't think i'd ever seen so much fiberglass in my life - not modern composites, outdated as fuck 1970's sprayed fiberglass like route 66 roadside attractions. from the outside you would think it was extremely ritzy and expensive but actually driving through the juxtaposition between the million dollar assets and crumbling 1970's construction was extremely striking

it's a multi-billion dollar real estate scam that's propped up by insurance fraud

People really need to recognize the signs of cognitive decline/impairment in older relatives, even those that you don't think are quite old enough for that sort of thing as a lot of boomers and even gen xers seem to be quicker to go that direction. And that this means when you do recognize it that you can't really trust them to do anything anymore. Especially something like watching over small children. They're physically and mentally unwell and cannot do it.
It's something that can rapidly progress from grandpa/grandma being a little forgetful to them babbling absolute nonsense six months later. It will catch you flatfooted.
Late, but caring for someone with a condition under the Alzheimer's umbrella as a young adult taught me very, very quickly that 90% of people have absolutely no fucking clue how profoundly disabling that shit is. The amount of people I have had to seriously chew out for trying to task this person with shit they just cannot do because they don't realize just how much it affects them is insane.

Just because grandma can hold a conversation and remembers your birthday doesn't mean they're just as capable as they've always been.

You would think given how many boomers are religious or pretend to be, they would at least recall a famous Christian parable about not building on sand.......

Or the more blatant and on the nose parable about the rich man who decided to invest in a future of potential hedonism, not knowing that he would not be alive to enjoy it and that his soul would be judged that very night.

This last one is my favorite because no one thinks people who lived through the great depression had it easy, they think boomers had it easy (cause they did), which begs the question is this just deflection or do boomers legit not realize that they are the old people now?
The comment about minimum wage being only 99 cents pisses me off. What most boomers gloss over is that nearly all of them made way more than minimum wage their entire lives because employers needed to offer serious wages if they wanted any workers at all. And the boomers who technically only made minimum were working jobs that got them tips too.

I had this same argument with a boomer relative years ago. He was bragging about his success despite how he "only" made $3.50 an hour as a construction gopher(go unpack the tools, go carry plywood, go get our lunches, etc.) for his first job out of high school. But when we looked up grocery prices during those years, it turned out that $3.50 was easily enough to buy a weeks worth of groceries. A modern equivalent would probably be $75-$100/hour in most of the country.

Just carry around in something on your phone that instantly calculates out inflation and then they shut the fuck up. They also like Hispanic workers because Hispanics will say yes, Mr Watman, Sir. Boomers really don't give a fuck about the money per se. They just like being sucked off. They love brown noses.

One company I worked with had a system that used areial photography to rate roofs which would effect rating, deductible options, etc.
The amount of boomers who say, "I've got a 30 year shingle, and its only been on there for 10 years" when you explain to them that their roof has existing damage is insane. If the shingle says 30 years, that means that nothing in the world could ever damage it until after that 30 year mark.

ALSO, this just happened today so it reminded me. Boomers can't understand why taking bank account and routing number is cheaper than doing their debt card or credit card. Young people get it instantly, I don't even have to argue about it. Boomers are like, "why is it expensive when it comes out the same account?"... I'm like, "don't you have a check? I can take payment from the numbers off of that.", and then, "No, I WANNA USE MY DEBT CARD, AND I WANT THE CHEAPER PRICE".

Buddy, jeets are a totally different animal. Boomers want that vertrines discount, that senior discount, etc... Jeets are worse than jews in how fucking cheap and how haggly they are. Buddy, they will call you like 4 or 5 times about the same quote asking for a lower price. My co-worker literally had a jeet make a fake image of a quote to try to get a lower price. Motherfucker, if you got that lower price why didn't you sign with them? This is above boomer pay grade.

Ah, the good old inflation calculator.

Federal minimum wage in 1975: $2.10/hr
Equivalent in 2025 dollars: $12.80

Federal minimum wage in 2026: $7.25/hr

It's way, way worse than that. For a pretty good chunk of the 1950s and 1960s boomers, money was made out of silver and gold, literally. The "official" inflation numbers are complete bullshit because it compares today's federal reserve notes to theoretical federal reserve notes of the past that may or may not have existed. But prior to 1964 regular-ass people barely used FRNs compared to traditional US currency, which was based off a silver standard and literally made of silver. tl;dr and then Nixon shock yadda yadda go read about it

So if you go by that standard - you walk into any coin ship today, right now, and they'll sell you pre-1964 US money for probably $47 per dollar. So $3.50 x 47 = $164.50. So in today's federal reserve fun bucks fiat, compared to US currency of the 1950s and 1960s, they were making over $160 an hour.

FRNs at first floated close to the real value of the US dollar through the 1970s. But the oil shock put an end to that and began the 1980s and the very beginnings of the fed reserve fun-coupons money printer, that they insist needs to BRRRRRRRR louder and longer every year for some reason....

tgi friday's, boston market, ruby tuesdays, outback steakhouse, and hooters went out of business. apparently some of them are still solvent, but they're totally gone from where i live now. they're the exact same thing as olive garden though - insanely highly marked up, mediocre sysco food, wrapped up in this weird performative french fine dining thing despite literally not even paying the waitstaff minimum wage

the asian resturants around here usually dont seem to give a shit about that whole thing too so it's very bizarre that you can just get better service from tactless and shoeless cambodians than you do this whole elaborate corporate boomer identity where they have to watch you like a hawk but also pretend that they're your friend
This is actually a documented trend that is codified as the "3.5 star rule" for Asian restaurants.

The theory is that whites will give mediocre food higher ratings because they like good service. Asians claim they only rate based on the food. If a an Asian restaurant has high stars it means too many white people boosting it for good service. If the restaurant sustains a 3.5 star rating from Boomers being mad about the service the food is probably excellent.

You could perceive this as anti-white propaganda/rhetoric, but I have seen this in reality with Chinese restaurants that I like.

In my experience white boomers are the ones who are weird about service and this is largely a generational issue. I theorize that this is because of the rise of DoorDash/UberEats, younger people actually working the service jobs and generally just not having a desire to be constantly praised. They ask me if I want rice or noodle and then leave me alone - perfect for me and I assume most people in my age bracket. Not so much for Boomers.

One common trend with Boomers I have noticed is them creating rules and tests for their tipping and service expectations. "If she does not offer to refill my drink twice the service is only worth a 10% tip", "I put my extra fork on the floor and if she does not pick it up it is bad service", etc.

Kill your own grandchildren in two separate incidences -> Judge gives reduced sentence because sympathy for the old -> Still try to reduce your sentence.
If you didn't already have proof that the united states and western society was a fail, well then here it is. Forgiving your mother after she kills your first born son and then letting her watch you daughter next. Horrifying. It's like out of that story, "A Goodman Is Hard To Find", where the grandmother gets the whole family killed because she insists that they drive down some stupid country road. The west has this thing where they give incompetent and incapacitated people responsibilities they will always fail at and then look away when they inevitably fail. They will then try to be mild with the punishments and pretend that it's nobody's fault really. There is no justice is this world. Especially in the west.
boomers I got mine everything is fine little girl dies in car.webp

Remember this happened in Florida, so the jury is going be skewed with lots of old fucks.

Clip mom talking about her mother, the grandma:

Some people will argue that when people's filters are up, that is when people are being the most honest. I disagree. When people are speaking bitterness, when their filters are down, that is when they are the most candid and honest.
