I’ve mentioned this before but figure this would be a more active place to get more insight.
So, what’s the future of boomer retirement towns?
Yeah, those ones found around Texas, Florida, Arizona, and North Carolina which have seen a huge influx of wealthy silent Gen/boomer retirees within the last 10-15 years.
The town infrastructure is built up around said old farts. Wineries, new and expanded hospital units, salons, banks, ranches on the outskirts, and country clubs.
What happens in the next 15-20 years when silent Gen is all gone, and boomers are nearly all gone or are sitting slack jawed in a nursing home?
Starter houses here in central Texas in non shit neighborhoods are nearly 400k. The cost of living continues to balloon. Millennials don’t have the money to live in such places, and zoomers sure as fuck don’t.
So what is the future of boom(er) towns in central Texas/Florida?
Ghost towns? Bought out by corporations? Given how Texas and Florida are/were the big places to escape to, but have been boomerified in terms of cost of living, Where is the next place that people would flock to?
