Boomer Hate Thread

Given how few kids there are now compared to when they were mostly single (they're called Boomers for a reason) they might not even exist today even if that law didn't apply. Just my speculation though, not familiar with the actual laws you're citing but the lack of children/aging population has affected quite a lot of things and probably even the passing of that law itself.
Having apartments with no single mothers with a brood of children would be a huge selling point.

It is one of the things that boomers have directly outlawed and made things worse for their successors, rather than indirectly supporting terrible policies.

I hate that boomers hold onto old cars, the C3 corvette is too beautiful to be sitting in some storage garage, rusting away as gramps withers away in some old persons home.

One of the defining traits of Boomers is that they are "pennywise, pound foolish".

Imagine spending 300 dollars a month on a storage locker to store garbage for 30 years. They do this and then turn around and scream at people for spending money on minor comforts.

I think the most offensive part of boomers to me, is that it's really easy to imagine how you could change so little and they really would be one of the greatest generations. I think we've all experienced the rare halfway decent boomer and it just makes the generation as a whole look even more perverse and uniquely degenerate. Like, if you just flipped the values around in how their basic zeitgeist just a teeny tiny bit, and they'd actually be great to be around. It's like the "uncanny valley" of decency. Does anybody else get this feeling?

I have found some boomers with massive collections who are actively looking to sell collections, piecemeal, on boomerbook and other outfits for a pretty cheap price. They just say that their kids/grandkids took a few things, but not everything. It seems these boomers just want to make sure the books/vinyls/dvds/vhs tapes/paraphernalia go to people that'll appreciate and enjoy them. I don't doubt resellers sneak into these hubs, but it's kinda expected.

Those boomers I respect. The ones hoarding shit? Fuck em. There are a few around my area that are upset that no millennial/zoomer has the desire to drop 6 figures to buy their boats or shit.

You're not wrong. I know a few that sit and watch news channels all day long and have brainrot from that, and I always have to ask them about how much they trusted the establishment when they were young. (They often admit that they didn't, but then they just point to some AI vid of orange man, or to something on CNN, and then I try to steer the questions to comparing it to similar topics from the past 50 years. Works funny with the ones that aren't delusional.

The issue with Boomer stuff is that people generally don't want it. They go for the cheapest possible option and abundance. This includes gifts.
When a millennial gives a gift its usually a more expensive higher quality item and just one thing. A videogame, piece of technology or collectors item. When a Boomer gives a gift its a bag filled with knick knacks from various dollar and big box stores.

My only contact with boomers is in second-hand record shops and, holy shit, they are the most greedy, money-grubbing price-gouging fuckers on God's green earth. Boomer shopkeeps will price up a fucking Beatles record at 100 bucks because the sleeve is intact, like, motherfucker this record is probably more abundant than literally any other LP in existence and you're pricing it up like it's some highly sought-after rarity? Fuck off, cunt. They get their prices by looking up the record on Discogs (which has hugely inflated prices due to Discogs taking a cut, and shipping fees) and they'll take a price on the higher end of average and just use that. The only people who pay these fucked up prices are other boomers who have too much disposable wealth and nothing to spend it on, and zoomers who have no fucking clue what anything is worth.

The worst example I have seen is a boomer record shop in Melbourne (trying not to PL but it's Greville St records in Prahran, fuck that place) selling the sleeve of Trout Mask Replica for $300, with no fucking record in it! Not signed or anything.

Boomers don't negotiate prices either and they're usually playing the most fuck-ass music in existence like Eric Clapton Unplugged or some shit. Bear in mind they get most of their stock cheap as chips in massive job lots from estate sales and the like. People go in with crates full of records and they look for ten seconds and say, "I'll give you 20 bucks for the lot" - then price each individual record at 20 bucks minimum. Fucking boomers have ruined record collecting.

On booms and collecting - I've found it shockingly amazing how many of them buy straight-up counterfeit or fake stuff and then do no research to validate it, just pat themselves on the back for getting an "obviously good deal"

Few years ago one of the older booms I knew, he knew that I knew about watches. "Hey Cyber I have this [expensive brand] watch that I bought on Canal street NYC back in the 1990s, can you come over and tell me if it's real? You can drink all the beer in my fridge." "Yeah sure okay"

It's very obviously a fake (because why would it be real) and I tell him it's obviously fake. He says "Oh thank god! I thought it was stolen and somebody fenced it and I just got lucky!"

Really? You entitled buffoon? You did not do one stitch of research and literally thought you lucked your way into an expensive thing for cheap because of someone's fuckup or niggery or whatever? That you're just that fucking lucky and special? And you thought this for three decades? Fucking REALLY?

I met two boomers who I consider. Good people. One is my friend's mother and father. Basically hardworking people. Who own a modest house that they've owned for 25 years. That they bought to raise the two sons.

And one is the crankiest, most racist Carpenter foreman, who I used to work directly with and live with my gal. That guy was legendarily cranky in the mornings and would constantly scream about, stop running around in your part of the apartment. I'm like, I'm not. It was the upstairs neighbors.
But my God, the guy had good weed back when I still. Patakin. And we could talk about how much all the fucking niggas on the same specs on the site were shit bags. He was also really good Carpenter and generally very knowledgeable guy.

Do you mean that they were basically handed a lot of wealth + a largely intact cultural legacy, (real historical culture, not hollywood "pop culture" bs) and could have passed both on to their kids, but chose not to out of laziness/selfishness?

I know maybe 1 or 2 boomers that both have brains, and actually are interested in teaching skills/knowledge to younger people, and they were also the only boomers I knew that aren't selfish and/or retarded (I include well-meaning retards in that), so I think I see what you are getting at. They could have been another greatest generation if they had a slight attitude adjustment.
