Got invited to go golfing recently. I don't own a golf shirt or shorts for the occasion as I don't golf often, so I wore a polo and khakis instead. Halfway through the game I'm setting up for my swing, and this geriatric old boomer drives in front of my shot. He hops out and starts telling me in the most reddit-janny demeanor possible that I have to go get proper golf attire, that the front desk wouldn't let me out on the field if they saw me (they just took my credit card a couple hours ago), and how its disrespectful to the game how I was dressed. I can't even describe how this guy looked, all I could see was a giant forced smile with furrowed brows, almost like one of those sharty/4chan caricatures. I asked who he was because he didn't even introduce himself, and he said in reply "I'm the field marshal, you gotta to listen to what I say." He then proceeded to follow my group for the next three holes, my group left early as a result so I guess mission accomplished. The course isn't even a nice country club, its a city course with a $50 fee and greens without grass. As a warning to my fellow kiwis; do not enter the boomer nexus (golf course).

I was on the golf team in my high school. And every single boomer I've ever met. Why engaged in that sport? With 100% asshole. Also golf is boring. I should have been on the wrestling team.

Sorry, I'll take Boomer sport over questionably gay sport, because with Boomer sport I can be a jackass with the golf cart on the course.
I'll give you that. That gives me a good memory. Of playing golf cart. Cowboy. Basically, we were trying to hit each other with golf clubs. Why driving past each other? Luckily, no one got hit in the head with the Golf Club.
Nearly got five weeks of detention for that one.

i gotta do an effortpost about that later
done (kinda). was on an unrelated post but you how how dat schizo shit flow
The will and worth of humanity to live, procreate, enjoy God's creation, is all destroyed here, in this school system, through it's artificial duality. Even if you incorporate religion into the (mutually incompatible) school's system this duality will warp it and turn God, the God that has created goodness, has created humanity so we could enjoy and maintain the Garden, into a god of suffering, alternating "good" yet unnatural asceticism and bad yet "natural" degeneracy, a "god" of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.
If anyone remembers the mutual antagonism between "moral" authorities (often intertwined with schools) & children, popular culture, and the desires of the average person that occurred in the last third or so of the 20th century and the very first years of the 21st, that is exactly what I have been talking about. The ridiculous desire of the "authorities" to walk according to flesh and force unnecessarily strict rules, religious or otherwise, upon the youth have left them rootless and spiritually dead. An example would be how they treated any expression of normal, human heterosexuality the same as rank homosexuality or adultery, or treated smoking or playing violent video games as sins of mortal danger. You can the effects of idiotic standards like this with the more degenerate, left leaning millennials, who were chewed up and spit out by that dynamic which either insidiously resisted or corrupted and degenerated any progress we made as a society. They have, in turn, internalized and copied it, spitting it out on themselves and the younger generations in the form of "modern" "feminism" which has destroyed relations between the sexes. This will, in turn, make the problem worse as whenever you repress normal heterosexual relations, people will inevitably exhaust their human nature in genuinely worse pursuits, such as homosexuality or autogynephilic masturbation (which leads to transsexualism). We can already see this with sexless incels, the loneliness crisis, puritanical attitudes, and unseen levels of sexual degeneracy coexisting. Speaking of incels, who are lonely, have no self worth, and are depressed to the point where they cannot enjoy natural human pursuits, those are exactly the characteristics the school system shackles our children with. Females are biologically more compatible to those "ideals" than males, who by nature are expected to be more masculine (assertive, physical) and must be worn down and broken more (as you can see through experience how boys are treated as defective girls in schooling). Now do you see how all these things loop back towards each other? Make no mistake, they have been planned.

I’d fully expect a boomer to pull some deceitful shit like that.

Another classic Boomerism: insist your kids play a game with you. Teach them the rules of that game but never, ever teach them any strategies or tactics. That way, you will always win, and you can sit in self-congratulatory smugness while telling yourself you outsmarted your stupid kids.
and then get all bitchy when your kids figure it out anyway and turn out to be far better than you, refusing to ever play the game again.

Isn't that literally the plot to Gran Torino? Boomer treats his actual family like shit and leaves everything to some asian who did a bunch of unpaid work for him.

"You don't listen to Boomer Band?!"
I’m going to give the boomers credit on this one since their music not only had the highest concentration of evergreen acts, but also will probably be the last time pop music reaches “classical” status. As soon as Gen X took over music quality nosedived.

WTF was "proper golf attire" then? The last time I played golf (Gerald Ford was in the White House) a polo shirt (they called it a golf shirt) and khakis was proper golf attire. Back then shorts were not allowed.

Tbf most Boomers and Xers can only feel something if they're looking at or listening to a vinyl record of a band they recognize from their youth. I think people listened to music differently back then or some shit because they get way too worked about about Music™️

It, like most non-book media at the time, was less disposable than today. If you wanted to hear music you liked you either had to catch it on the radio or go through the rigmarole of putting a record on. But Millennials also bought into vinyl which is why it became a fad for music that didn't exist concurrent with the medium.

As far as why it's music from their youth, most people's music taste is informed before they're fourteen. It helps that there was a definite higher average quality in music from 1969-1974 where all these musicians had to drive to experiment with conventions of the medium and the record labels were happy to front the money because they'd get their cut regardless. These weren't obscure groups either, they were making mainstream money. This isn't something that happens anymore; the best you can hope for is an enthusiast wanting to emulate genre conventions at the time, but usually that results in something too derivative or too anchored to how it is received on social media.

If there's an issue with the way boomers interact with their music in current year, it's that they only ever can remember the 100 (more like 50) or so songs that gets played on whatever local affiliate IHeartRadio bought out.

tl;dr Boomers had good music, but Guns 'N' Roses ain't it.

There is a shitload of good music. It's just not bottle necked by radio and TV. You can find whatever you want, when you want. Because it's contemporary you're going to see more mid and shit quality stuff but in hindsight we only ever pay attention to the good stuff from the past. It gives people with nostalgia a sense it was the best. But tastes like music are very subjective in the first place. A lot of people develop their music taste because it happened to be what was being played during turbulent formative years or an emotional time in their life (thus the years of teenage angst being when a lot of us develop our music tastes). Aficionados have dick measuring contests about what makes this or that good but when you really get into it, it's all just a matter of taste like many other things. What was popular back then was what was selected to be pushed to the mainstream more or less and was no less highly manufactured than a lot of entertainment today. Plus boomers (and x) being huge consumers for pop culture memorabilia is a big reason a lot of shit is still so prevalent, let's not pretend otherwise.

There is a shitload of good music.
This gets trotted out all the time but the simple case of the matter is there’s less good music made today than ever, despite more people than ever making producing and releasing music. Even genres that predate the modern media landscape, like orchestral or jazz, have been dragged down in quality. I get dragged into this conversation all the time, and every time the example that good music exists today is either some uwu soft boy ukulele rock or fucking King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. All hip-hop-derived genres are bad music, cope and seethe.

That movie was a pure boomer power fantasy, him standing up to the pack of negroes as the wigger is getting nigged on, pointing a gun at a gang banger. The ethnic group he began to associate with being a tolerable group, I would say it would be unrealistic if they were jeets but knowing boomers he may have found their culture captivating.

The clear and open contempt and hatred of his children and grandchildren is also an insightful look into how boomers view their own young, written to be downright caricatures of scumbags.

Had another interaction with the boomer today. As a customer, we were cutting her lawn. And she was asking why it took so long, and I tried to explain to her that one of our guys was out with kidney stones. So we're bit behind on schedule. Then she started ranting at me. That people in her day when beyond and beyond. To go to work, even if they had kidney stones.
I told her, honey, that's against modern employment law, that we cannot force someone. After they have a doctor's note. To come to work. When their doctor said they cannot be at work for 5 more days. Or do anything strenuous because they have a Medical device that cannot be filled with everything you get from doing general construction and landscaping.

Then this woman said she's gonna go with someone else and I said OK. She didn't go with someone else and for some reason she still wants us to trim her trees back.

I feel like Boom was really just like to complain. Also, I figured out that boomers aren't particularly good at understanding when you're fucking with them. When it comes to pricing? I just tell them a higher price than negotiate down to the price I was going to give them originally.
