Borderlands (1, 2, 3, The Pre-Sequel, TftB)

Because wiki is full of retards. Here, a plot summary.

You arrive on planet Pandora following gossip and legends of a Vault holding untold riches. As you progress on the planet, you come to realisation that Vault is indeed real and it is opening soon. To open it, you search for vault key pieces, at the same time as Commander Steele commanding Crimson Lance (PMC owned by Atlas corporation). The pieces you find you hand over to Tannis, previously of Dahl corporation who puts them together after researching the aliens who inhabited Pandora before humans. However the key is stolen from Tannis by Crimson Lance, and Steele rushes to the location of the Vault to open it, only to be (kinda) killed by the monster inside. You kill the monster and get the loot, but there was no treasure. Not even a legendary gun ffs.

This is an actual paranoid thought I've been having lately, but is anyone else thinking how weird it is how BL4 does not have a single pro-homo thing so far on the trailers? Obviously I prefer it that way, but if there's any series I would imagine they would double down on it, It's Borderlands.
The whole series is just continuously getting more and more gay with BL3 having one non-binary character and the whole gay wedding DLC, and Wonderlands was just pozzed all around. I've been holding in with every single trailer and gameplay demonstration for when they drop the tranny stuff, but it's just not there.

I know it has to be. This game has been in development for a really long time and particularly during the peak of the whole pro-gay stuff in NA, you don't have time to change entire scripts, characters models, recorded voice-lines etc because Trump won the election functionally yesterday (in game development time) and there's winds of change.

Maybe this is literal schizoshit from me but I feel like they're hiding from the promotional material, afraid it will tank the game rep. The most "diverse" thing so far is just the playable cast but the first game was already a black guy, a woman, a mexican and the token huaite so it would be weird if it WASN'T diverse.

It is a frustrating mix of some awesome environments and enemy designs, and alphabet people horseshit, tied up by a framing device instead of an actual plot.

The gameplay is awesome if you keep it on mute.

That's fallen out of fashion but Randy is hopelessly stuck in that era.

I reckon he is trying to do the Todd Howard thing. This reminds me a bit of "Stop buying Skyrim if you want us to stop re-releasing it" and the very on the nose "Sometimes it just doesn't work".
Randy constantly over the years tries to be the funny guy with his magic tricks on stage and twitter posts, but aside from the fact that Todd is simply more charismatic, he is also not stupid enough to say something to jeopardize his product. Todd's statements certainly are inflammatory and offensive to some degree to the consumer, but they are an acknowledgment that Skyrim has addictive properties and that they fucked up on Fallout, they're not just a middle finger to the fans. Randy is quite literally just NOT funny.
 
Sperging right now but BL1 was peak on how gritty and dark it was. The characters (even Lilith) were charming and fun to play. Roland is still my most played character, next Brick with his infinite rockets build. Even the janky DLCS without check points had it's charm everyone was flawed and a cunt but that was okay.

Going back to Old New Haven still sticks with me when everyone was fucked up and dead was amazing and still a standout. Even going into New Haven for the first time with that slide guitar intro song was just amazing. They all but wrote out Dr Zed in subsequent games and what happened to TK Baha was sad but great.

Even 2 is a lot edgier than the modern shit. I replayed one of the DLCs recently and there was a mission where you have to take down some fat cannibal bitch who eats people.

Moxie says that psycho meat probably tastes better than her last girlfriend's pussy.

No way in hell they'd put a line like that in a modern Borderlands game. If I recall correctly the "humor" in BL3 was almost entirely juvenile peepeepoopoo jokes about farts and piles of shit.

Borderlands one had a great mix of grim, hard-edged, clawing-for-subsistence world and crude gallows humor to cope with it. The DLC was goofier, but still had some of the grit. The musical choices for the opening and credits were perfect songs for setting the tone, and even the ending being a total rug-pull actually fit the game's story and tone perfectly. Having the Vault turn out to be the last thing anyone in their right mind would actually want to open followed by No Heaven as the credits rolled was a great ending to a game that is basically telling you that you were fucked the second you set foot on Pandora.

When they lost the harsh edge in 2, things lost the tone that made the first compelling and the game is practically a self-parody. Great choice of intro song again, but the game doesn't live up to it. No Place for a Hero would have fit the first game better than the second.

I know. Im playing that shit right now. Just finished a quest that was entirely about a guy stuck inside a outhouse shiting, trying to get the door open.

Whats up with Moxie wanting to kill most of her EXs? The one she sent me to kill was hosting a tournament were if you win, you got to have sex with him. What a retarded plot line.

That running gag started with The Secret Armory of General Knox, when you go to the prison full of totally straight guys.

Basically, she tells you that the head of the gang in the prison is her Ex, who just won't stop bothering her, but will do anything she asks, so she tells you to ask him for a favor, and then kill him so she will not have to deal with him anymore. Then you get tons of indications that her ex is not straight at all and Moxxi was his beard. Then you kill him.

Then in Borderlands 3, the new head of Jackobs is a butt-munching faggot fucking Anthony (she took my wii-u) Burch self-insert.

Someone in the writing team (Anthony) must have done this to piss off all the Christians and trump voters.

Almost done with BL3 main campaign. The gameplay and graphics are better then the old games but the writing, damn it sucks. What is with millenials writers and their love for poop? Its funny how bloody gory the third game is when the movie had no blood in it at all.
