Borderlands (1, 2, 3, The Pre-Sequel, TftB)

Wonderlands already makes me immediately annoyed with its usage of inclusive language in the character creator. Instead of calling your body "male" or "female", you choose between "this one" or "that one." And you can give your character pronouns!

Why is gaming so pozzed
Yep between that and five hours long I'm not buying this garbage.

Couple reasons.
1) Because it's easier to pander to the 'inclusive' crowd, since the worst thing anyone can yell at them for is being 'too inclusive', which, to a normie, sounds like some hateful bullshit.
2) Because it's what's big in the market...or at least was all the past five or so years.
3) Because it nets them good boy points to balance out whatever horendous shit they do.
and 4) Because dipshit execs thing 'more inclusion = more people buying = more money', forgetting that the, how did the quote go again? Niggers, spics, junkies and losers? let's just call it what it is: The cult doesn't actually *buy* anything, they just jerk off to tweets about said games.

The good news is that slowly, the pendulum is starting to swing back. Companies are seeing that 'get woke go broke' isn't a meme, it's a warning. Just look at how Ricky fucking Rat over at Disney is starting to sweat about his pennies, and is about to get deported out of Florida. So, give it another five or so years, because even if game devs get ahead of the curve, delete the progress on Troonsucker: Bob and the female penis, and start making something that just focuses on being a fucking game again, it'll still take awhile to come out, just due to how fucking retarded expensive, huge, and time consuming AAA thinks games have to be these days.

What makes Borderlands 3 less replayable than 2? I can't quite put a finger on it. Maybe it's because I've spent a lot more time in BL2. That or the awful main quest you have to slog through.
Opinions?

It's the Calypso twins. Everything else from the shooting, to the loot, to the level design is superior in BL3 but the villains are so fucking awful they ruin the experience. Also Ava and turning Lilith into a cuck.

I still have no idea what the fuck they were thinking when they wrote this game or why the intergalactic Siren war teased at the end of BL2 seemingly got dropped for no reason.

Because this:

Ricky Rat
I've never heard that before now. Thanks.

In addition to what @Ruin said the overall main story just is not engaging and there are no cool story beats at all. It’s just a complete flatline all the way through, and whenever they try and do something “big” it’s either

A) Boring
B) A retread of shit they’ve done in previous games or
C) Outright bad (like Maya’s infamous death)

There are no interesting moments like Sanctuary taking off, Jack killing Bloodwing, the Angel/Roland deaths, etc. And by the end it all just winds up feeling like a glorified side mission.

It's honestly so much more than just the Calypso twins. There isn't a single memorable villain or fight in the game and there was very little innovation in the actual game's design from BL2 to BL3. I don't even think the Shooting, the Looting or the level design is improved, I'd say it takes a step back. The characters don't have interesting skill trees or synergies and a lot of the skills are just passives.

The player characters are also much more forgettable this time around and instead of fixing the problem of "The BL1 cast is super important" that BL2 had, it just ratchets it up even higher and sometimes forgets theres a BL2 cast.

I think BL2 is just a better game, BL3 just looks a bit nicer because it's so much newer, but even then it's iffy.

You could practically hear the clunk when it switched to a scene Anthony Burch was involved in.
"Wow, that sequence sure was exciting. What's the next scene going to be?"
*CLUNK*
Lesbian enters the scene with a fucked up face
"My wife is away on an adventure. She wants to marry me. God I love my wife, my female wife, my lesbian wife whom I love a great deal and who is incredibly badass. God my wife is the best, we're lesbians by the way."
Apparently a new TFTBL is coming... from Gearbox, not Telltale.

This is going to be actually terrible if it's going to have the same writers as the last two Borderlands on board. Tales was a remarkably well-written game for the franchise and that was all Telltale, without them involved I expect nothing but trash. It'll also be fucked if they don't have Troy back to voice Rhyse.

Part of me wanders if the new Tales from the borderlands is going to answer the fate of Fiona and her sister.
Part of me hopes not because I much rather prefer they never appear again than to be butchered.

I legit never got into these games. I've bought most of them through bundles on Steam, I've played up to a few hours after Sanctuary in BL2 and everytime I just restart and give it a try again but man.

I've tried starting from BL1 but that shit is so unbalanced it's not even funny, you can't fight a mob 2 levels above you because it will shred you.
BL3 is a totally different beast, the gameplay is fine but I never bothered with the story of these games so...

I've had similar experiences. They seem like they'd be up my alley but something about the repetitive gameplay and lolsofunneh tone slapped on everything makes it hard for me to be invested. I actually beat 1 and all its dlcs and felt like the series moved in the wrong direction with 2, says Jack, everything about him was great.
