Borderlands (1, 2, 3, The Pre-Sequel, TftB)

If you're referring to this then you're mistaken, this is for the weird cash-grab standalone version of the borderlands 2 dlc they released a couple months ago. This isn't the new game.
Ah shit, you're right, I completely forgot that was a thing.

How's Gaige? She has a robot that helps fight with you it seems. I keep dying at the first boss

Gaige works best if you're running solo. Otherwise, she screams a lot and D34TH-TR4P steals everyone's kills for their second winds so they splay out on the floor gurgling the money they lose because they died.

...Gaige isn't popular in my friend group but the robot is useful in a pinch, especially if you're solo. Axton, while not a popular choice (RIP my man) is also good for solo because minion classes are good if you're struggling to get kills and both Deathy and Mrs. Turret can snag that second wind for you

She's a lot of fun and was the character I normally played. Death Trap does fall off after a while but he'll get you through most of the game and is still fine enough even when he's just a distraction. Anarchy can get out of hand really fast if you're able to stack it up, and things like rocket launchers or other spray and pray weapons can just nuke most enemies.

It's hard to imagine a more immediately obnoxious combination between Tiny Tina as a character, Wanda Sykes and Andy Samberg together in a game from a series that hasn't been entertaining in years.

It's a shame too because the Bunkers and Badasses DLC was the best in the series aside from General Knoxx (And mayyyybe the Cthulu one) in my opinion, and obviously it's a popular opinion if they're making a whole spin-off game using the concept. But putting so much attention on Tina isn't a good thing; she's best in small doses, not an entire narrative.
Assault on Dragon Keep is pretty awesome. Its the closest Tina gets to being an actual character in the entirety of BL2 with the way she copes about Roland dying. Claptastic Voyage is a close second.

I’m cautiously optimistic about wonderlands tbh. I’m glad there’s the large difference in time from the release on EGS before it releases on steam as that gives a lot of time for people to review it without me getting any hint of FOMO and if I get proven wrong I can just go my way and not even buy it on sale.

They showed a 20 min demo of Wonderlands. It seems to be more of the usual with a more overt Fantasy UI

Hey, late to the party but I played a TON of BL3 (Being able to turn off Voice Acting and the cutscene skip made that game FAR better) and I’m ready for Wonderlands.

Just to give you an idea of how much I love BL3 I had it on my PS4, played hours of it there. PS4 died and I bought BL3 on Steam and got myself back to where I was by grinding Scraptrap Prime on TVHM and only stopped playing BL3 recently to replay FFVI in PPR form.

The gameplay and the need I felt to grab all the cool guns that YouTubers like K1llerSix would talk about was all I needed.

No joke, grinding for gear in BL3 kept me sane through the shitshow that has been the last two years.

B3 really feels like the sequel trilogy of the Borderlands series

Not identical but I almost cant help but notice the similarities. With all the forced humor (ik, Borderlands was never subtle or held back with humor but 3 just felt...worse in that matter), killing fan favorite deaths to replace them with clearly inferior replacements. Or at least IGNORING fan favorites for a while and only bringing them back for the sake of attracting out fans back out of desperation.

Its also so bizarre how they didnt give a shit about Tina for the most part in 3 (even tho most believed she would be an explosive based VH by then) and yet are making a whole new game based on the best DLC from 2 that is all about her.

Im glad you were able to get some enjoyment out of that, at least.

Its a big step down from what came before but alright. If you are having a blast, you are having a blast

Honestly, I initially skipped BL3 because Pre-sequel killed all desire I had to play the series but my friends sold me on it, I buy it, they quit a few weeks later for the reasons you all listed above.

I initially quit when they did then the Quarantine hit, I started playing BL3 again because it was still installed on my PS4 and, for some reason, I went from “I play a few hours of games per week” to me devoting myself to this fucking game.

I liked the first, devoted many hours to Anarchy Gaige in BL2 and still go back to that one every now and again since I got it on sale on Switch but no Borderlands game’s gameplay gripped me quite like 3.

I’m just weird, I guess.

Again, its absolutely fine.

Its like faulting someone for enjoying Duke Nukem Forever, as in, come on, man, applaud them for finding actual enjoyment out of that.

I think a lot of people's grievances with BL3 are in the story, not gameplay. The gameplay is perfectly fine and it's about time they made it so you could slide and climb ledges.

I'm glad the grind worked for you but the story and treatment of many fan-favourite characters is what people have beef with.

While I have a hate-like relationship with Borderlands especially after 3 the Dragon's Keep standalone made me interested in Wonderlands. But the characters in the trailers seem fucking trash. While they were always irritating they were at least kind of quirky and tolerable enough to have in your ear while you do shit, but the new ones don't seem interesting, just obnoxious.
I'm sure Will Arnett will be fine at least but he could have more fun with the old Borderlands edgelord writing which I'm expecting to be dialled way down. RIP midgets.

I have small issues with the gameplay, like making the legendaries way too fucking common.

I get the idea of making them spawn more frequently to avoid grinding sections but I would have prefered if they didnt went to the other extreme. Now they are TOO frequent and thus not special anymore.

There is no wide eyed "holy shit" reaction to finding one anymore

The main story was fucking dogshit, yes. Gameplay was the best in the series to me. Level design was forgettable and a lot of it felt like rehashes of previous stuff. And I do agree with what @The handsome tard said above, legendaries were handed out like candy which lead to them being completely devalued and meaningless.

The game overall just did not have the same "soul" BL2 did. Anthony Burch is a lolcow but there was something about that game's story and characters that grabbed people. Jack was a big part of it, he remains great and was fun to listen to in replays. BL3's villains were so insufferably awful that they probably turned a lot of people OFF from replaying it.

Anyway, I have personally seen zero hype for this Wonderlands game. No one is talking about it. I'm really curious how it's gonna do.

Honestly, Wonderlands seems like a "treat" game to keep us busy while they work on Borderlands 4.

The game is just Dragon Keep but a full game about it and it doesnt seem to progress the story in any way. The gimmick is "medievil" borderlands DnD styled again but bigger and louder (and Bojack Horseman's VA being in this).

It feels like a "distraction" game. At least The Pre-Sequel added some depth to the universe and Jack's character (and honestly I always think people were too harsh with it, it was no B2 but it was still worth a full playthrough). Wonderlands seem to move nothing forward or give depth to anything.

I wouldnt be surprised if they use the setting as an excuse to bring Dameon Clarke back again as the Handsome Wizard or some other variation of him...since Damaon Clarke sells, they literally made a whole DLC about hearing his voice again in B3.

In the end, Wonderlands might even possibly be fun but I doubt it will be anything but that, just fun enough to keep you engaged for a single full playthrough and thats kind of it.

This.
I never give a shit about story because the number of games that have had truly well written stories could be counted on one hand....by Abu Hamza.
Gameplay is King and the gameplay in B3 is tight.

Absolutely nobody seems to be talking about Tiny Tina's Full Price But Only Six Hour Long Spinoff.

I absolutely hate the character. Would it be worth suffering through her dialogue when the game goes on discount?
Wait it's only six hours long? What a fucking ripoff. I hated Borderlands 3's story, characters, and dialogue but it had a forty hour campaign plus DLC. 6 hours? That's ten dollars for an hour of gameplay?

Wonderlands already makes me immediately annoyed with its usage of inclusive language in the character creator. Instead of calling your body "male" or "female", you choose between "this one" or "that one." And you can give your character pronouns!

Why is gaming so pozzed
