Borderlands (1, 2, 3, The Pre-Sequel, TftB)

It's been a while since I played 3, but wasn't Ava directly responsible for Maya's death? I think it was something like Maya told her to stay behind, she disobeyed and was put in danger, Maya freed her then died(?) Worse still, she got mad at the other cast for not being able to fix the problem she created, and nobody gave her the kick up the ass she deserved.

She is a shitty character that failed upwards. She stole shit and got rewarded with an apprenticeship, she got someone killed and got rewarded through inheriting their powers. It's no wonder people hate her.
Sort of, yeah. I think people overstate how "responsible" Ava was for Maya's death (while Ava gets smacked around, it's sneaky tranny-siren powers that kill Maya, and not anything Ava does), but she was certainly a contributing factor. I think ("think") the intention was for Maya's death to read as a noble sacrifice in the face of a sadistic villain who had the jump on our heroes and wouldn't have stopped regardless, but the writers hamhanded it and most people walked away from the whole thing with the feeling that, if it weren't for Ava acting like a spoiled kid, Maya would have found a way out of the situation and would still be alive.

What's extra shitty is that BL3 spent a good deal of time talking up Ava as the Next Gen Poochie, there to take the torch from Current Gen Poochie, Lilith.

If that was the case, then at least Maya dying to save Ava makes sense.

But if Ava gets killed off, or worse, just flat isn't in BL4, then the writers have basically rendered Maya's sacrifice meaningless. You NEED Ava to be a playable character (or at least an important NPC, but I'm so sick of NPCs being more important to the story than you that I'd much rather Ava be playable), or else you've written yourself into an even bigger dumpsterfire re: Maya.

Did you not play tiny tinas wonderlands?
Dare I ask...?

Unpopular opinion, but I found the gameplay side of BL3 to be kinda fun. The story is abysmal dogshit; I haven't even gotten that far, but I can already tell the plot's going to piss me off, but the gameplay is at least solid. What probably helps is that I got the game for free as part of a sale.

Any suggestions on a build I should go for? I'm maining Zane.

That's not really unpopular. Most people seem to agree the gameplay is the best in the series while the story/writing is an abomination.

One of the only things I didn't like about the gameplay is the rate they spam legendaries at you to the point where they pretty much mean nothing, which shockingly it sounds like they're fixing for 4.

I'd take how 3 gives out the good guns over how 2 had the asinine "No legendaries until at least your second playthrough" bullshit.

So I skimmed the State of Play and honestly i liked what I saw. The Vault Hunters we saw looked a lot better than they did in that previous trailer and the gameplay looks really good. I’d love if the team learned some lessons from the criticism they’ve been getting since BL3, especially the movie and that awful Tales 2 game. But as long as the game play feels good I’ll probably still enjoy it even if the story sucks eggs again. At this point nothing can be as bad as Tales 2… like holy fuck what were they thinking with that shit.

Besides that I hope the Switch 2 version is day and date because I’ll probably play it there just like I’ve been playing the rest of the games on the Switch 1. Gyro aiming is too good and I can’t go back to regular joystick controller play anymore. Hell the Switch 2 has mouse mode and if they add that option it’d been even fucking better if it plays as good as Metroid 4 did!

I like the pre-sequel but that is the biggest problem of the game i think. Its worse when the npcs re-spwan as you backtrack.
It made me abandon the game. I am fine if the plan does not work once. Twice is okay but its stretching it. Three times? You are wasting my fucking time.

And, replaying full Borderlands series now. And man, BL1 gunplay really is not good.

Man pre-sequel is such shit. Why yes I love backtracking! PLEASE SEND ME TO GET ANOTHER MCGUFFIN TO CROSS THIS FUCKING BRIDGE SO IT DOESNT OPEN AGAIN!
Pre-Sequel is so depressing because gameplay-wise the player characters are the most fun in the franchise but they're stuck in the wrong game. It also has no OP levels retardation so the endgame would be fun if you had something to do.

I couldn't finish three. My problem with three is that enemies are so weak during your first playthrough that they may aswell immediately explode the moment you point your crosshair at them. It does the Diablo 3/4 thing where they know the game is popular because of the endgame grinding so they may aswell make the story mode a joke, but I refuse to trudge through shit just to get to the actual endgame.

I found the traversal and platforming insanely bad compared to 3 when I played a bit of 1 again on the weekend. The cave you go to for the crystals for New Haven would be so much less frustrating if you could mantle ledges!

The Gunplay was not insanely bad, aside from the whole having to backpedal at 1000MPH when enemies come at you in every single encounter.

I liked getting a ton of legendaries in bl3. Most either sucked or were useless for my build so it helps getting a bunch. I swear tiny tina's never gave me legendaries and when it did, they sucked.

I think I got a total of three legendaries in Wonderlands, and two were so situational that they were basically like having a weapon 10 to 20 levels below their spec.

It is too bad, since Wonderlands had some awesome visual design, but the writing and transfaggotry was just godawful. Paladin Mike should get the noose.

I think it's really really funny how they adjusted the faces/hairstyles on the Vault Hunters to make them considerably less ugly. They're still not attractive by any means but they're much much less hideous than the initial reveal trailer everyone made fun of.

I guess Concord scared them away from the "make everything butt fucking ugly to own the chuds" mindset that every developer used to be in love with.

Zane was my favorite. I'm sure they fucked with the game balance since last I played it so no idea what a good build would look like, but he's got the most amusing voice lines and I can't imagine that changed, at least. Not great by the standards set in previous games, but the other hunters have the personality of dried paint.

Mechanically-speaking, I think most would agree that the gameplay generally gets better as Borderlands ages. It's the characters, storyline, quest and level design, and overall fun that goes downhill.

I kinda liked pre sequel soely due to handsome jack and the playable jack character interaction... that alone carried the game for me. But BL 3 ? the writing is so abismal dogshit not even a superb gamplay hook hold my intrest to play it... For the backtracking thig... i played lots of mmo's riddeld with the generic deliver a fuking message to another NPC litearaly next to me then come back to a report therefore i kinda blanekd over those during my pre sequel playtrough, + like i said the game dangled Jack front of me like a fuking keychain to a todler soo i gave to it a pass...

FL4K is fun to play, although his pets can make things confusing, and the Spiderant one can block your view annoyingly.

>add skip cutscenes option in an update
> the only cutscene you can skip is the hammerlock jakobs faggy kiss

what did gearbox mean by this?
Maybe they are backing off of making every fucking character gay?
