I’ve only been playing this game for a month on TVHM Mayhem Mode III and I feel like I’ve been in mourning for a year.

I'm so glad they nerfed Legendary drops. Boy, were those annoying! I sure love slaving away for loot-that-may-not-have-all-the-necessary-parts-to-suit-my-build; in fact, I would rather they reward me only one out of every five runs! Fuck good things! I hate positive feedback.

I didn't think Borderlands 2/TPS had any good writing either, but I don't remember it being this offensively bad.

I died laughing as Lilith basically went "I must return to my home planet" and flew in the moon and did a siren thing and died. Then the credits rolling in with Alicia Keyes' "This Girls is on Fire" was the cherry on top.

Gearbox did the impossible, they found a writer worse then Anthony Burch.

I haven't finished the game yet due to life, but I'll convey what I've thought so far:

Spoiler: Lilith and Ava

I've thought Lilith has been pretty boring since being given the reins over Roland in BL2 since she could just do everything. What they did to her (and Ava) at the start were not terrible decisions and could have been good foundations for storytelling. However, Ava hasn't grown at all by the point I'm at (Rescuing Tannis) and has done nothing but whinge, pout and complain the whole time. It seems nobody on Sanctuary knows how to be a fucking adult and so everyone just ignores the problem and lets her continue to be a nuisance without putting the little shit in her place.

Now I feel Lilith appears to be a very chill person who lets everything that isn't strictly disagreeable walk all over her, but her attitude to Ava is absolutely frustrating. She doesn't step in even once and tell the little bastard she was the main reason Maya died, and nobody else had a bigger stake in her death. The kid just gets to avoid all responsibility while "Commander Lilith" acts hopelessly impotent, and nobody in the crew who has revered Lilith in some way or another steps in for her defence bar Tannis, who says very little to remediate the situation as Ava just goes back into Little Shit Mode the moment she's abducted.

So far the best parts of the story have been Rhys, Traunt and Balex. A pretty weak contribution, but it's something.

Oh boy I sure hope I get another Nemesis to drop or another Hellwalker! Lordy knows the game gave me more than enough room to store the some 200 legendaries as long as I fill my 50 slot bank, my 40 slot backpack, my wall slots, my equipment slots and create other characters to act like mules! If I didn't get constant validation with a legendary nearly every ten minutes I'd just down the glass of bleach I keep around in case or emergencies!

Huh. I'm just playing through BL2 for the first time, and liking it mostly.

Loot drops are lame compared to BL1, but what do I care. Every 5 levels or so I refresh my guns from the golden chest via the infinite key exploit. Hey, don't hate on me. I just want to tour the content.

Tiny Tina DLC is compelling and fucking hilarious, aside from some obvious SJW influence in the writing.

UVHM looks cool, but is Borderlands content compelling enough to run through thousands of times, like Diablo II's? Don't think so.

Just finished Borderlands 2’s main campaign with Krieg, and honestly the final boss was just completely underwhelming. To be fair I was fully specced into Hellborn and the Warrior primarily used fire attacks, but I was able to pretty much just stand in the middle platform and shoot him with a corrosive pistol til he died.

Overall I’d say I had a good time, but the gun vending machines really need to have some better options. Quest reward weapons offer so much benefit over your standard junk that there’s little reason to ever buy from a vending machine past the early game.

The Warrior had been hyped a lot and indeed he is kind of a disappointing final boss. The vending machines are oddly paradoxical because to buy the better shit if you dont want to grind weapons is to grind money, to which you need to kill enemies and find containers to get it and sooner or later you get a better weapon than the guns being sold in the vending machine through that grind.

But with all of that said, B2 is still one of my favorite games of all time. B3 is a disappointment but I think I made that clear by now with my other posts.

Krieg's audio logs built on his character from BL2 pretty well. They're setting up for a great moment when Krieg finds out about Maya's death. Remains to be seen if they'll do anything worthwhile with it.

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong in 3, but at level 21 it just seems like anything other than cultists just has artificially high hit points, especially bosses. My weapons aren't crap, I swap elements, go for weak points... Are you stuck using keys or eridium at the vending machine on Sanctuary to not make fights a chore? Can't figure out why I suck, never had problems with the other games.

Aparently there was (or will be) an intended DLC that will answer where did Jack's double, Aka, Timothy, ended up after the events of B2. There was some audio found in the main game that hint towards some plot involving a casino station that Handsome Jack built for Moxxi before their breakup and aparently it had some sort of lockdown system that would come into action if Handsome Jack were to perish so the whole station was cut off from the rest of the universe. Years later, the station became its own "city" with this mysterious entity "pretty boy" being the one in charge, being inside the main controls of the station when it entered lockdown but he needs Timothy's hand to unlock the lockdown (and of course Timothy is in station too).

Have you tried respecing your trees? sometimes having specs that go shit together is usually the problem, and retweaking your build helps wonders. Also investing on a good shield/weapon mod helps. Bosses are more grindy in this game unfortunately imo, but also the new Terror mechanic introduced for halloween will totally botch your damage and accuracy if you have enough stacks of it without proper annointed weapons to capitalise on this status.

The hack writer was there and he talked about the borderlands 2 vault hunters, and he said only a few o them will appear in the DLCs. Since only Krieg and Gaige are mentioned in the vanilla game, I presume Axton and Salvador were completely retconned! They simply don't exist in the canon anymore. Fun, right?

But it gets even worse: Eva - the little prick who makes Mary Sue from Star Wars looks like a competently well-written character - Will be heavily focused on the DLCs. And Maya willingly chose to give her powers to her for some reason. I guess Maya really likes obnoxious little brattices who spend the whole day complained about how shitty their lives are.

Seriously, fuck this game forever.

I honestly doubt we are getting a 4 after the dlcs so its the last we will see of borderlands for a long while. And its for the better.
I rather stick to the trilogy plus tales and thats it, maybe 3 being some high budget fanfiction.

I think I’m in the minority of really enjoying the halloween event in 3. Also I just bought the Handsome Collection so my fiance can play the older games with me, and now I’m hooked on 2 again. It’s a shame there’s no berserker class in 3. Amara’s fine for a close combat fighter, but like Zer0, she just doesn’t take it far enough. I’ve never vibed with a playable video game character the way I do with Krieg in the mania tree, and it feels so good to be equipping weak shields, keeping my magazine empty, and chopping things to bits again. So my review of 3 so far: it’s fine but bring back Krieg as a playable character.

I'm fine with the Bloody Harvest event. A little short since it's only one unique level, but I've enjoyed it so far.

What a pathetic plot element that Tannis had just been a Siren all along and was hiding it.I already had it spoiled to me that Tannis was a Siren, but I didn't know how. Although it already sounded stupid, I was interested in seeing how she became one through a Siren's death and Eridium exposure, but nope, she was always a Siren. The schizophrenic mad scientist who spent most of the first game complaining about the Dahl corporation abandoning her on a desolate planet, struggling to survive, backstabbing her colleagues (and you)...was only pretending to be re.tarded. She could have teleported between areas for supplies, but nah.

DISGUSTING.

I don't think I can like her anymore after this, and I thought I was being open-minded. It just puts all her previous shit in such an obnoxious context and plainly ruins her character. They've written themselves into a dead-end here, and if the gameplay sours this franchise is history.
