I've provided evidence in this thread the form of literally linguistic translations already. I know multiple languages Brad.... I've also actually read the Bible; something you've seemed to have skipped because you believe you lived it. I mean, obviously you've read some of it because you quote from it whenever it suits you...but you seem to miss the good parts. (ie: love thy neighbor, turn the other cheek, forgive them for they know not what they do, he who cast the first stone, etc etc)

But, here, I'll spoiler the quote for you.

Hmm.. probably not. Kinda open to it, but not really. The Bible is a load of crap. Like literally. It's men's jizz and shit on paper. The Bible that YOU'RE likely reading is the American/English Translation one (am I correct?). The American/English Bible has been translated from about 5 different other language/translations. That means A LOT is lost information wise. To experiment.... find a translation site, put in any sentence you want (it should be more than 5-7 words), translate it into a language, any language will do, then translate it into a DIFFERENT language then the first time, and then back into English and see how fucked up it gets.

You know what... because I don't think you'll do your homework, I've done it for you.

English: And God Said, "Let there be light", and it was so.
Hebrew: ואומר אלוהים , " יהי אור " ,וזה היה כך.
Latin: Dixit quoque Deus: " Fiat , et factum est ita .
English: And God said, " So be it, and it was so .

Do you see? Granted, something so simple as "And God Said, "Let there be light" and it was so" got completely mutilated in all the translations. And that was just three languages. The American/English bible has literally been translated from 5 different languages.

Here, I'll do it with something super simple and interesting.
English: I hate apples
Hebrew: אני שונא את התפוחים
Latin: Odi mala
English: I hate bad

Oh? What's this.... Apple translated from Hebrew to Latin = Bad? Who the fuck knew?? (heehee, I did)
What happened to the Bible (according to people study languages) was that the bible went from ancient hebrew to latin, and then from latin into several other languages. Eve never ate an Apple. She ate from the tree of evil. (remember, bad/evil translated into apple). The description the bible gives for the tree she ate from would have made it something similar to a Fig tree. But the word for Fig does not translate from Hebrew to latin. There is no comparable word. So it was changed to Apple because "tree of evil" in hebrew literally translated as "apple tree". That's the basic run down anyway.

I'm not trying to alienate anyone here. If anyone here believes the Bible is the word of God, have fun. I don't judge, I love (with exceptions... I don't love people like Holden...ew)

Edit: OH and something SUPER fun for those interested. Linguistics and other religious article studiers (I forget their titles) believe that that passage "One does not lie with a man as one lies with a woman" is either A) an anti-man rape passage, or B) a pro-procreation passage... you know, for a time when we all had to be baby-making machines or else the human species would have died out. Just a thought for you.

Hey, you can believe whatever you want, dude, I don't give a rat's ass. I'm just pointing out that there's a reason 99% of Christians thought history have chunked Gnosticism into the ashbin of theology-- it doesn't jive with established Christian doctrine. The idea that Christ in any way disguised or obfuscated his teachings runs counter to how the gospels are written.

In short, it's a crutch for people who want to act like theological scholars without being better people. Ahem. I
