English is considered the largest spoken language, if you account for it being spoken as a second language (which pretty much means its a trade language.) If you only account for it being spoken as a native language, its in 4th place - Mandarin Chinese, Hindustani, and Spanish all have more native speakers. That being said, I still don't know if you could call it Earth's "primary" language. After all, how long has modern English been spoken on the planet, versus something like Latin? I confess Etymology is not my strongest subject, but I'd be willing to bet against the statement "Earth's primary language is English" if you factor in say, I dunno, History.
