12 Aspects of Time and 12 Types of Matter - 'As above, so below'
A few years back, a priest at Miami Lakes
Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church asked me, "Can you explain the significance of the #12 in the Bible?" I forget exactly how I replied but let me answer that question now.
Jesus son of Joseph famously had 12 male Apostles in his inner circle along with 7 female Apostles not including his family: his Mother Mary, his wife Mary Magdalen and her sister Martha. (I probably should skip over those details when repeating this to a Roman Catholic priest.)
The #12 is the first
convergence point: 12 = 2 x 6, 3 x 4 (3 x 2 x 2). "Being a summation of two prime numbers (7+5), in
numerology, #12 is believed to be the number of strength, conviction, absoluteness, and finality".
I try to avoid numerology and its opinions while looking for repetitive numerical patterns in nature and human culture - this is the basis of science.
There are 12 lunar months of 29.53 days each in a lunar year ('moonths'). The
Zodiac / star signs are divided into 12 sun signs, and as per Semitic beliefs, "There are 12 days of duel between Chaos and Cosmos." This may be due to the astronomical fact that there are 12 days between a lunar year of 354 days and a solar leap year of 366 days.
"As above, so below" - ancient precept of sacred geometry
Judaism: There were
12 Tribes of Israel (12 sons of Jacob/Yakov),
"Solomon had 12 Officers over all of Israel"(1 Kings 4:7) and 12 oxen of
Solomon's Temple. A girl becomes mature at the age of 12.
Christianity: Jesus had
12 Disciples (Apostles). Every Bible scholar attributes this to correlating to the 12 Tribes of Israel. Apart from that, there are "12 Fruits of the Spirit", "12 gates and foundation stones of the Holy City", 12 months of the Roman
Julian calendar/Gregorian calendar, and "12 Days of Christmas".
Islam: Muhammad was succeeded by 12 Imams.
Chinese:
Zodiac is 12 years.
Also, there are 12 men and women on a
jury (American). 12 different musical notes in a complete octave. 12 months in a solar year. 12 hours in a half day and 12 divisions of five minutes each in an hour. 12
Knights of the Round Table. 12 pairs of cranial nerves. When looking head on to the
Lincoln Memorial, there are 12 columns with Lincoln seated in the middle (ala Da Vinci's
The Last Supper). 12 inches in a foot. And the
dozen as a unit.
What is it that has promoted #12 for such significance? "As above, so below."
Sacred geometry may have began at the ancient site of Metsamor, Armenia 1,000-2,000 years before the ancient Sumerians and Egyptians ~7,000 years ago. A
lunar month ('moonth') is 29 1/2 days and there are 12 lunar months in a lunar year of 354 days (11.25 shy of solar year). The Egyptians, however, needed a solar calendar in order to easily predict the annual flooding of the Nile, so they marked New Year's Day with the annual positioning of the Star Sirius. The Sumerians/Babylonians, Persians and Egyptians had a 360 day calendar with 12 thirty-day months and then added five days at the end (they also allowed for leap years). This is why we still divide a circle into 360 degrees and have a
Base 60 clock divided into 12 groups of five minutes. The lunar calendar is still followed by many Jews, Arabs, and Chinese, although they also keep track of the Gregorian calendar in order to align with the whole world.
The ancients also recorded the 12-year orbit of the Planet Jupiter and many have explained the 12 signs of the Zodiac through this.
The question now is, "Why would God/nature give us Earthlings 12 lunar cycles in a lunar year, Jupiter's 12-year orbit, and 12 days between a lunar year and a 'solar leap year'? Answer: It's a 'reflection' of the
12 different aspects of the one dimension of time...
There are
7 aspects of regular time:1.
The beginning - the Big Bang ~13.8 billion years ago, 2.
The end of this universe (not any time soon), 3.
past, 4.
present, 5.
future, 6.
The void - beyond the expanding universe and beyond the horizon of a black hole. 7.
a constant - the speed-of-light 186,282 mps.
There are
4 aspects of hypertime: 1.
Fast forward - time dilation, 2.
Reverse - faster-than-light. 3.
Pause/Stop time - traveling at the speed-of-light, in that perspective, everything observed seems to have stopped, 4.
Before the beginning of this universe and
after its end. (This universe's Big Bang [a supermassive white hole] was the result of a supermassive black hole in another universe. Our universe and that SBH share the same event horizon. That SBH & SWH formed an Einstein-Rosen bridge [wormhole]. There is a seemingly infinite number of universes within
The Conglomerate [
multiverse]. This provides infinite space and infinite time...)
The 12th aspect of time is
eternity: all of time. This includes 'all the above': 7 aspects of regular time + 4 aspects of hypertime. These 12 aspects of time are then reflected in our Gregorian calendar as 12 months: 7 months with 31 days, 4 months with 30, and 1 month of 28 days (7x4).
There are also
12 types of matter (flavors of elementary
fermions): 6 leptons and 6 quarks - a very simple symmetry.
