Doubt they need the money if they didn't piss it all away since the last movie 3.5 years ago.
I just think that most of them just genuinely love doing retarded shit for the kicks and getting paid big time for it is a good bonus.

Besides that they probably enjoy being together, the laughs and money, most of them just are known for Jackass with little going for them, but summarized in no particular order:

1) Wee man runs (or ran?) some restaurants in California
2) Johnny Knoxville kinda famous and in some other movies
3) Steve-O became a pretty famous media personality
4) Bam Margera... need I explain?
5) Danger Ehren McGhehey just living off the money he made
6) Chris Pontius, travelling around and vlogging living off the money he made
7) Dave England just living off the money he made
8) Preston Lacy did some comedy shows and special guest in Steve-O stuff
9) Ryan Dunn is dead
10) the new ones from Jackass 4 are still rather unknown
11) the CKY crew didn't participate much at all after movie 3 apart from 1 of them being camera crew in the latest movie

I think another aspect of why 4 sucked and why 5 will suck is that when you have old heads and new blood there's inherently a power dynamic that makes it feel more like Fishtank than Jackass, like the young people are necessarily beholden to the whims of the old guys because the old guys control the brand, so it just feels like dancing monkeys humiliating themselves for clout or favor or money, a far cry from what it used to feel like which was a bunch of ostensible friends doing dumb shit for fun. Which is further exacerbated by them all being sober while pressuring people to do the type of shit that only sounds fun inebriated. It's just kinda creepy and comes off as exploitative or sadistic. Like teenagers making somebody's little brother do dumb dangerous shit in order to hang out with them so they can laugh when he gets hurt.

Apparently the new movie's going to be more of a retrospective of the shows history, as of now Bamuel has only made a deal to let them use old footage already filmed, there's been no deal for him to make new content.

I do think the fact that he recently sat down and had lunch with Pontius is an indication that he's at least talking to the guys again but idk how you can come back from threatening your bosses children, calling them all niggers and faggots, and spending years trying to get Johnny Knoxville to fight him
 
I enjoy seeing Pontius thriving. He was always my favourite Jackass. Not sure I have enough interest left for a movie these days, but go off I guess.
 
Five years ago I started this thread and with the support of this community and especially @Rogowski we've maintained a pretty decent timeline of Bam's turmoil with Jackflop 4 and now "Jackflop 5: Are We Dunn Yet?" And I can tell you that years of passively following Bam's Instagram was far easier than listening to FIVE MINUTES of STEVE-O blabber on in his shitty podcast with Jess Margera. How can anyone willingly endure this? Steve-O cannot get to the damn point he's an insufferable carny.
Now would be the time I would recap it, but it's too boring. FUCK YOU STEVE-O, you're not even worth a-logging, you just suck. Even Reddit hates you!

I'm not surprised that Bam is going to be used in Jackass 5 even if it's just archival footage, they should just pay him for commentary. Bam shitting on Jackass 4 is funnier than anything Steve-O has to say, this comes from Johnny Knoxville's Instagram so clearly there has been positive communication for a while now.

For the new movie they should just regularly cut to Bam talking trash and at the end throw snakes at him. Hilarity ensues.

IIRC, all Johnny Knoxville said about Bam was that he didn’t want to fight with the guy and hoped he got better. So maybe the idea is that if Bam actually wants to get better and attain sobriety for five minutes, then the door is open.

I'm gunna be honest, I don't really know what Knoxville expects. You've got a group of men who throw snakes at each other, huff literal ass gas through a tube, do backflips off buildings into pools and walk through minefields of mouse traps in jockstraps. Normal, well adjusted people don't do those things and especially for almost 25 years, money or no money. If by some fucking miracle they do, they are not well adjusted by year 5 and they are completely fucked in the head by year 10. Throw money on top of that and it's a recipe for absolute disaster.

It's not right that Bam did that shit but like....come on, man. What did you really expect to happen here. :lit:

I don't see why anyone involved would be outright hostile to Bam. They all had good times with him and probably do care about the guy. They are watching somebody they care about battle drug addiction. Why would they hate him? They probably are rooting for him to make it. Especially since so many of them dealt with their own demons and didn't want people writing them off as a lost cause.

To be fair to Knoxville, Bam is an outlier in regards to the whole Jackass crew. I understand your point, but Bam is the only one of the crew who hasn't been able to maintain stability in his life. They all had their own trials and tribulations, but they all did ironically become normal human beings.

It isn't wrong for them to expect Bam to act like a normal human being. If Steve-O could kick the drugs and find stability in his life, Bam can too. Of course I don't think he will because he has far worse personality problems.

I don't think he's going to have much stability or sobriety in his life either.

Being an addict is a sad thing, man. You're either addicted to your shit which eventually leads to death or you go to AA and replace your addiction with Jesus and AA. It's not a bad outcome but you didn't actually fix the addiction, you just replaced it. Most addicts will never fully understand that the addiction isn't the problem, the underlying personality disorders and trauma that they've experienced is the problem. The moment they address that, the moment they decide to re-invent who they are as a human being, that's the path of starting to find some fucking peace. There is probably nothing more difficult on this planet than having the humility to admit that you're probably very flawed, wiping the slate clean and starting over as a human being. So much of Bam's identity is rooted in all of this; Jackass, the fucking skateboarding, the social media shitstorm......he's never going to be able to turn away from that and that's exactly what he needs to do.
