Careercow Brandon "Bam" Margera - From Jackass to Lolcow

What does being pathetic and basing an entire week's emotional state on the behavior of strangers have to do with Bam?
I guess Bam probably doesn't get the amount of positive attention he feels entitled to, but that's because he's a has-been with an ego the size of the sun, not because he's a man.
Some incel ass shit right there, nobody gives a shit in a thread about Bam if you're sexually frustrated because women don't pay attention to you.

Steve-o became an eco-terrorist, stand up comedian fuckwit. He turned his life around so he could be the annoying 20 year old studying a liberal arts degree for whatever reason. He still does dumb stunts and gets in trouble with the police for it, but now he does it to raise awareness about eco bullshit.
The vegans have turned on Steve O after he admitted on Instagram that he eats fish again.

As far as I remember the only thing he did that could be considered eco-terrorism was climbing on a freeway overpass sign and taping up his own sign to express his feelings about Sea World

I am far from an animal advocate but this was harmless shit that only hurt the feelings of a corporation that animal advocates hate. If you’re really going to cry about a professional retard hurting the feelings of a corporate entity you’re a bigger faggot than the vegans crying about Steve O eating fish.

Further, his father was president of the South American division of Pepsi-Cola and was raised all over the world and has citizenship in the UK, US, and Canada. If it surprises you that the trust fund kid who shoved objects up his ass to rebel against his corporate daddy is now protesting corporations you’re also retarded on top of being a faggot.

It’s all projection. I’ve ignored it, so should you.

On a hot wings challenge interview he talked about climbing a building to hang a banner while he was high as fuck. The police sent a chopper after him and he could barely function enough to hang the banner and let off the flares he had planned. He's done other dumb shit related to eco causes.

The Hot Wings story was that Sea World stunt pictured- the banner he hung says “sucks” and he climbed a billboard, not a building.

You mean this, dumbass?
Took me one minute to find this on youtube versus you bringing up Hot Ones. Search more.

is rake involved with the radio show? I never understood why they always shit on him and whether he was like a shitty person or something
edit to clarify, I never understood why bam was so shitty to him, even in that terrible bamaimation he's depicted as horribly gross. was he really like that, a gross terrible person?
He is married, with two sons, and has a job as a chemist so I doubt he is a gross person.

I suspect he realized early on that he didn't want to stick with the crew and the lifestyle it entailed.

In the end, he may have walked away from a lot of money, but he seems to really have his shit together.

I would not be surprised that once Bam found out that Rake was moving on, he got a bit petty. Look how he reacts when someone gets sobriety.

Chemists make good money, not flash in the pan money for two or three years. No one got rich being a Bam sidekick appearing on his MTV shows.

A working chemist gets paid far better, and gets better benefits/job security, than a lackey on 5 episodes of MTV reality show. Shit just look at the fucking galaxy of people that “starred” on MTV shows from 1995-2010. Rafe was a smart dude and knew giving up a good career for bit of quick notoriety was a bad move.

Only Bam got rich from being on his shows. (Being featured on Jackass could get a better outcome and payday.) Being a Bam orbiter was only a good gig if your other job current job prospect was drinking 40 Oz, dealing weed and skating. Novak was a good example of a guy who’s best option was being a Bam lackey.

The funniest part is that the other guys besides Dunn quit being Bam’s lackeys but didn’t quit making more material. Rake was still producing comedy with Dicamillo but they don't even make a half assed attempt to promote it online other than posting it on YouTube way after it is originally completed.

Brandon made a sketch comedy video called Cattle Bags that was never formally announced online and was sold as part of a bundle in the Apple Books app that includes prank calls, a new freestyle, and new skits and physical copies are rare.

If you click his name you find 2 other books and they’re distributed by a company called Roman Sausage LLC which if googled shows to be owned by Dicamillo.

Ten years after the fact he put it on YouTube where you can see it here.

Chris Raab also wrote and directed a short film called Borrowed Happiness that also had Rake and Dicamillo in it but they never made a formal release and the movie and trailer are available on YouTube. I’m sure there’s other stuff out there but they don’t make any attempts to get rich off of any of it.

edit: fixed link for broken happiness full movie

Huge missed opportunity. Ten years ago, Bam's crew still had a decent fan following and they could have made it big had they tried to get a deal with an "edgy" channel or distributor who would pick up ex-Jackass guys without blinking.

Television companies always want to grab the coveted young adult audience as its believed they have the most disposable income and thus will buy the things advertised in commercial breaks (thus raising the price of advertising during those time periods due to demand). What made MTV and especially Jackass such a success in the late 90s and early 2000s was because they grabbed that demographic. That has since changed due to the advent of streaming services such as Netflix and Youtube where young adults watch less television, but even so its easy to imagine there's plenty of opportunities out there on digital platforms rather than just cable TV.

I admit that at the time I thought that was the funniest thing I had ever seen on television.

If only Bam had continued that line of work rather than switching to doing drugs and sending death threats as his chief occupations.
I don't think he would have been able to maintain it. Not even just because of his personal issues. Fads change quickly. If you look at anything from the 2000's none of it would find success if it aired today. Anything that still has popularity does so on nostalgia alone. Look at how a television show like Survivor has had to radically change itself in order to keep viewers engaged.

Bam would have had to transition into something else in order to continue having success. He maybe would have done well if he broke into YouTube and podcasting.

the weird thing about this is that the teenagepunx acct is shilling 'Bam Margiela' shirts.....is he actually involved?
It’s not a Margera, Bam Margiela (real name Erik Arteaga) is some kook who went viral for making videos of himself skating in high dollar boutique shoes (think Kanye’s shoes but more expensive and obscure) that were for collecting only. If not obvious from his name, he’s notorious for using other peoples name to advance his own fame and the fashion industry has for years felt entitled to “borrow” from the skate industry (example) and play ignorant when the inevitable lawsuit arises.

His Instagram comments are filled with two things usually; requests to do a kick flip because he can’t actually do one and a quote of his: “We don’t skate until the check clears

Oh I agree that Rake was very smart and forward thinking to do this. He had the smarts to walk away from quick up front cash, along with long term potential royalties (abet they decline over time), for a much more steady income and a much healthier and happy life.

I think he deserves a tremendous amount of credit for doing something that a lot of people in his shoes would not necessarily done. And I am certain there was pressure placed on him by Bam and others to not walk away from CKY and Jackass.

God the shit Brandon Novak went through for Bam. First ep of that game show sees him catch a big-ass watermelon right in the nuts from 20ft up in the air. That's just not right.
Related: Right from the fucking get-go. I busted out my copy of Jackass Vol. 1 out of boredom today, and the first skit that involved Bam was him 'waking up' Novak with a guitar solo sitting on him, and when Brandon didn't react enough, he started punching down like he was hammering off a bitchin' riff, except he was punching him full force in the face. You see him all knotted up afterwords, not even looking angry, just long suffering.

*DERP* It appears this was Jess Margera getting it in the face, not Brandon Novak. I fail @ 20+ year old facial recognition */DERP*

Not sure if I am irritated more for Bam for being such a cuntwad to his 'best friend' or Novak for fucking taking it for so long just so he could get a paycheck and turn it into smack and booze.

Yes, but I think you might be vastly overestimating the financial incentive being offered to be a “cast member” on an MTV production and any long term royalties. The biggest incentive is fame and the money you could then potential make using that fame to book appearances or promote your band or whatever. But appearing on a MTV show isn’t going to make you much money on its own. Even the “stars” of some of MTV’s big “reality” shows were hard up for money like a year or two after production stopped if they hadn’t parlayed it into other opportunities and jobs.

MTV knew this all to well. They could get people to appear in their shows for peanuts because most people were just desperate to get on a show. If they wanted to quibble about a paycheck there were 10,000 other ppl ready to take their place that for even less money. The casting calls for that stupid real World franchise were insane. Those actors/people would have paid MTV to be on the damn show.

Knoxville, Bam, Steve-O - the main guys - made most of their money via merchandise licensing, the movies and endorsements. I’m sure they got some income for royalties but it’s not like Seinfeld or the royalties a featured cast member got paid from a hit sitcom. Minor cast members got way less and probably very small royalty income.

I’d bet Rafe just didn’t think the money MTV offered was worth his time and effort. I think the biggest factor was he wasn’t hungry for notoriety or fame, already had good career options, so he bailed. But anyone who was fame hungry would have accepted the shitty MTV paycheck simply to be on MTV and get a bit of fame.

People tend to vastly overestimate the money non A & B list celebrities make. The top ones make so much money that it’s sort of assumed there’s a trickle down to the less famous and most celebrities actually do as much as they can to promote the idea of fame and success (this isn’t the case for the Jackass guys, except for Bam who always seemed to want to flaunt his wealth and show how rich he was with status symbols.)

On the topic of paying washed up celebrities, specifically Bam
I was shocked that anyone believed that Bam would get paid $6 million for the new Jackass movie. I tend to think that figure was a lie/delusion on Bam’s part because he wanted to sell the idea he’s so important he gets paid $6 mil for a movie. If there’s any truth to the $6 mil figure then it was just the absolute cap on the potential earnings he would get if the movie was a monster hit and tons of merch was sold. I’d bet he would have been paid low six figure salary and then if the best case scenario happened he had the potential to make up to $6 mil, but that was not going to happen.

Bam did make a ton of money thanks to getting his own shows, tons of merchandise and licensing deals, endorsements and appearances but I think his money is running dry. He seemed so incredibly desperate for the Jackass movie and hyper focused on that $6 mil number - like that was the amount needed to solve all his problems. His mon trying to turn his house into an Airbnb rental, selling the lambo, etc… Even before that he was appearing on shitty bottom barrel reality TV therapy shows for a paycheck.

I get the idea that if it wasn’t for his parents help and probably controlling what income still comes in and manage side deals for his IG feed and letting people hustling merch he gets a cut of, that Bam would be dead broke now. I think his parents help him keep from the gutter because being a literal bum would ruin what little income potential and power he still has. So they help prop up his lifestyle just to prevent the total destruction of future earning potential. They certainly try to tard wrangle the IG account from him so it can remain a income stream for sponsorships and promotions.

I am very curious how broke/in debt Bam is at this point. His parents are wealthy (thanks in part to his fame) but I bet Bam’s own money is mostly gone.

WTF I honestly did not even know that whole Bam-sona aspect of burberry.erry. Just the regular aspect of burberryerry is so fucking corny that I completely tuned him out. I haven't been on instagram in forever so I'm not sure who came first but it always seemed like burberryerry just completely stole Vincent Nava's kit. If you could do a thread explaining people like flytecc, burberry, and others, and why they're funny to the Kiwifarms audience it might do quite well, plus people who already (marginally) know who they are would want to follow along.
