Recently I considered to start using the brave browser and wanted to ask some questions relating to it.

First: is it good?
Do you actually earn money from BAT is it like those shitty survey websites?
Does the TOR relay actually use the TOR network or is that a marketing gimmick?
What are the actual downsides to using Brave over Chrome and DuckDuckGo?

Does Brave still have that forced sneak VPN install that caused a shitstorm a few months ago?

It's basically Chrome with some added features. The adblocker and anti-tracking is pretty good, IPFS support is cool, the search engine is mediocre but cool they are trying it. Just use the stuff you like and disable the stuff you don't.

The main problem with BAT is that you have to set up an actual crypto wallet with KYC now. Apparently they were having issues with Indians doing click-fraud.

That was a kind of dumb "controversy". They pre-installed some components for the VPN in the regular browser install so users could sign up and start using it, without downloading more stuff.

Never had any real issues with it. Their VPN in particular is very good, since it's cheaper than the alternatives and integrates into the mobile browser as well. I just wish they'd update their nodes more often since some of the sites I want to access have blacklisted basically all of them.

Some of the websites are irreversably broken even after you put them on an exclusion list from Brave Shield (javascript related most likely), so for some cases you will have to use an alternate browser. But otherwise, I like it a lot as well. The fact you can put up about 20+ custom homepage artworks that randomly change is pretty neat. As for the browser, it's much worse than Bing or Google or Yandex or Kagi or TinEye in terms of webpage or image search, so again, you'll have to use a mix of all options to have good results.

I had something like $21 worth of BAT but they changed the system and I can't access it anymore.

At one point I tried to cash out. I had to make a Gemini account. Gemini was hacked immediately and all of my information was stolen. Now I get a ton of spam email every day and all my BAT is gone.

It put a bad taste in my mouth.

The ad blocking is good and it's the best mobile browser. Nothing beats Edge for desktop right now, though.

As retarded and shit mozilla are i would much rather continue using firefox than allow another chromium browser to gain marketshare which basically gives jewgle even more control over the internet than it already does. All these third party chromium browsers really should fork off chromium into their own thing even if that is going to be really hard and expensive to do.

For android it's really nice. yt no ads no hassle.
I'm firefox all the way but they fucked that and the add ons up so hard on android I had to look elsewhere and this works very well out of the box.
On the desktop I tried it but meh. A wel setup Firefox wins by a mile.

I have never encountered this, though I am running on pretty much default settings.

Not sure on BAT anymore mostly because of its poor performance in the latest crypto pump, I stopped getting payouts when I started using a VPN more frequently so I opted out. Prior to that I accumulated about 100 BAT which was around $120 when I sold them.

I put Brave on all my families phones because it is the best hassle free mobile browsing experience, It also lets you watch youtube vids without ads or while minimised/screen locked which according to google is worth $10 a month.

I have it but I hardly ever use it. I mostly use Edge and I have adblock installed for it. I also have Fire Fox installed also using adblock. I hardly ever use Fire Fox.

Brave is ok. It has its own built in adblocker, so I don't need to download and install anything for it to block ads. I do like that about it. But I hardly ever use it. I just keep it around as a backup browser like I do with Fire Fox. If something doesn't work with Edge, I can try Fire Fox and if it doesn't work with Fire Fox, I can use Brave. Usually, it will work with one or the other.

I use Brave mostly on my phone which is an Android. It's good for blocking ads on YouTube videos and other sites.

One thing I have noticed is some of the porn sites have found away to get ads through adblock. So I will use Brave because they don't seem to have figured out how to defeat Braves built in ad blocker. So, it's good for that. Even YouTube seems to be trying to get through adblock now. When I click on a YouTube video I usually end up seeing one screen shot of the ad and then after it goes right to the video. It takes a second. But I still don't have to see the ads. I don't have this issue with Brave. Brave works adblock used to on YouTube.

luv me firefox.
luv me ublock origin.
luv me revanced for mobile.
simple as.

used brave for years and switched all devices to firefox. this tranny developer knows what's up, it's not that it's drastically different or better than brave, it's just the accumulation of tons of little things it does a bit better that made me switch.
maybe give brave a chance but if youre using firefox already don't expect anything better.

Good browser
BAT gains were limp for 3 years now, availability in countries is a shitshow all around, it will keep disconnecting your wallet for no reason
Shit torrent functionality
TOR functionality also sucks because you will be prone to deanonymization- user onion browser instead
Adblocker is pretty good.
Brave wallet is meh
Tranny devs don't respond to community requests

fourth reich eich also dropped shit and admitted on /biz/ that BAT has terrible tokenomics

Le shill Lion... doesn't stop me being a Brave enjoyer for all things though, just change the search engine to bing or something Brave search is garbargio.

I was having issues watching bossman jack streams or anything via Kick, so I've started using firefox which does an okay job. Brave was having too many issues these last few months.

Brave is great, but rather than tie yourself to BAT wouldn't it make sense to invest in Solana since that is the underlying infrastructure for BAT and so much more?
