Brave Browser General - I’m feeling Bullish on $BAT

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I like Brave, I use it exclusively right now. Keep in mind I only have a basic understanding and utilization of its features but the ad blocking is great, the tracker blocking seems to be great too, I dont really get how to use BAT and dont want to set up a wallet to do so, search engine is okay for some things but lacking, image search I always revert to using Google Images. If you search a place, like a restaraunt in your town, Brave pulls up Yelp links first which for some reason drives me insane. I keep trying to disable the AI blurb thing it does when you search but it keeps coming back. I feel like Brave is more private than many browsers, but I am also certain that amount of privacy is somewhat of an illusion- but I cant really explain why I feel that way. One other pet peeve is that I hate autofill and for some reason it autofills user names and prior searches even though I keep disabling that setting and have it so it clears history, cookies, and cache everytime I close it. But I am also kind of retarded on how these things work.

I use Brave's Tor extension solely for logging into my KF account. It's free and covers my IP-related issue with posting on the forum. One concern is if there is something shady about Brave itself that I don't know.

I don't know what's up with Brave, but it used to be that when I minimized a tab, it would be small; now it's a huge tab that I have to constantly resize. I have no clue whose idea it was to make this change, but it's pissing me off.
Try doing this. Close all but 1 Brave window, make the Brave window whatever size you want, hold the 'Alt' key on your keyboard and left click close the Brave window - while still holding alt - click and close the window.

This should save the size of the window you made. Sounds like something caused a window to go silly res and it got stuck. Alternatively you can search for say 'windows 10 reset window sizes' and there is probably a powershell command a regedit, freeware tool for a simple 1 click fix etc. glhfdd

Tried Brave after holding out for a long time and using Chromium. What forced me to switch is that Chrome and Chromium were getting rid of the feature that UBlockOrigin needs in the browser plugin API to work. I don't know why UBlock doesn't just make a normal program that runs in the background and edits your DNS to block all ad sites instead of trying to sneak in just as the page is loading. Really a lateral move for Chrome. But Pajeets live for lateral moves, so they must feel like they are doing something to make it take a few extra steps to do the same thing that it took a few steps to do in the first place. So far so good with Brave; basically a more finished Chromium with some custom theming.

My resistance to Brave was that I don't want to use my computer for fake Internet money botnet. Since actually trying Brave, it looks like all the BAT crypto stuff is opt-in. This is good because if you don't want to help search for SETI@Home, then it's not setup by default and you just get a normal clean browser. I still hate Brendan Eich for JavaScript having so many broken things in it from its birth. JavaScript has so many bugs it make using it next to impossible unless your are some masochist who wants to cut their balls off. It is so frustrating to write, the things that take so long to tease out are always the least predictable to go wrong. Every other language null, false, and undefined (that lang's version) are usually all equal to each other and when used with an if statement evaluate to false. Too many different types of equals statements, which were only added because of how broken everything was day one and nobody wanted to make anyone else rewrite their code in the world most broken language. Same thing with variable declaration as with equals; var and let, also because var was broken at birth. Even Java has closures where the last statement evaluated gets returned, but JavaScript does not. Eich let Mozilla get lost to the trannies, so I don't have high expectations.

All the custom search and other branded sites that come with Brave I tried before switching. They were all crap. So I kept the same defaults as before.

Are you sure it's Brave and not the forum?

Echoing in. Brave Bois aren't holding as good as they used too against ads. Not as bad as not using brave but it's been sneaking in through the cracks. Hope it gets fixed

What I done is manually update the adblocking lists in brave through settings, it does decent job of holding back jewtube

Apparently Brave blocks Twitch ads now. I didn't even know that was possible because the ads are built straight into the stream.
