Because a good chunk of Breadtube started off as Skeptics who hated the fuck out of religion and picked on self-taught Evangelicals, so that created a fad that's at least 15 years old. A fad of whiny assholes complaining about their shit religious upbringing because they didn't want to do what their elders told them to, and their elders punished them for it. It's basically assholes whining about how they were treated like assholes for acting like assholes. It's pathetic, really. They act like they grew up in Amish Country or Shiite Iran when the people who raised them would probably be more like your normie American parents who weren't that strict.

They act like their religious parents were the worst in the world, when all their parents wanted them to do was hold hands and attend Mass for one hour a week and smile and wave at the congregants afterwards. As someone who did grow up among religious parents and went to religious schools, I gotta say, it wasn't half-bad. Shit, that kind of upbringing usually gives you a leg up above the plebs whose parents could only afford public schools. Unless you were abused/molested by a priest, minister, or rabbi, I don't see the reason for alarm.

While I'm sure a lot of them are just mad they were made to go to Church and say grace during dinner or whatever, I wouldn't go as far as to deny that abusive religious households exist entirely. Even outside of the obvious stuff like beatings and neglect, the thread for the "Quiverfull" movement leaves the distinct impression it would be a rough time to grow up in that kind of environment.

While I'm sure there were some religious households that were abusive, especially in America where they really did some stupid things (the Satanic Panic comes to mind) most of the religious upbringings that these Breadtubers complained about in their personal lives were far from it, and were rather basic "do your chores, go to Church, and pray every night" types of religious.
 
Even those who aren't on the "fundie" end of the spectrum have the tendency to be stupid.

Like falling for moral panics around things like Harry Potter, Pokemon, first person shooter games, etc.

Which is why their children somehow feel justified in going the absolute opposite direction and become the very degenerates that those religious people were (in retrospect, rightly) scared of.

I suppose so. Like I said, religious people did their own share of stupid. But by the time the Skeptics rolled around, (late 2000s, early 2010s) that shit was already done and over with. Religious people were no longer the boogeymen they once were, and were liberalizing. The worst I've seen from them outside of the abuse scandals were in the early 2000s, but the censorship shit died by around 2005-ish. Hell, the Pope supported Pokemon, and other Christian nations did nothing about the rise of Harry Potter and games like Counterstrike, Doom, and Halo. Only in America, it seems, where the fundies just went full Amish and decided to say NO to anything new. I suppose this is what happens when your pastors are all self-taught evangelicals instead of dudes who went through years of seminary training.

But by becoming the same degenerates that the religious people were scared of, these Skeptics proved the religious right to be correct. That you need strong religious upbringing to reign in such bad instincts. And the funny thing is, many Skeptics who wound up on the Breadtube side now joined hands with the folks who were supporting the same censorship against violent video games that the religious once went against, but this time, it's not because it's encouraging violence, but because it's a "male fantasy". The funniest thing about Breadtube and the SJWs is that they became the very same religious authority the Skeptics originally rebelled against, but they have even stupider reasons than the religious right for censoring things like video games or tabletop games. Like say, getting pissy at D&D for things they construe to be racist.

They probably were. Society veered hard left during the 60s and 70s, and so the 80s-2000s were a counter to that.

It's just that the SJWs didn't have the strength the old left had. They were hated right off the bat. Four years into the SJW craze, Trump gets elected because of blowback against SJWs.

I'm not Xtian but I agree with this. Biblical scholars and others with real schooling on the subject are usually smart and informative, regardless of your views on the bible or Christianity itself. Think of preachers like Jack Scalfani's Murder Church guy, that is self taught quality.

Basically. Hence why your average Skeptic doesn't pick on them, but rather, on the self-educated preachers who are usually easy targets. It's the same reason why the same Skeptic crowd later came after the Third-Wave Feminists; most of them know nothing outside of just feminist propaganda in college, and so, they made for juicy targets to demonize since most people would already agree with the Skeptics' objections to modern feminism.

It's basically picking on the class clown for being a class clown; it makes for a good laugh among your peers, but at the end, you've learned nothing and accomplished nothing. Which explains why some of these Skeptics tried to jump to the Breadtube bandwagon to try and profit off of the SJW fad, even though your average SJW probably sees these Skeptics as scum. SJWs are not the forgiving kind. They already don't believe in forgiving members of their own side for making "mistakes". This whole shitfest between Breadtube and the TERFs really shows Leftism for what it is: the blind eating the blind. What is considered Progressive and Leftist in decades before becomes the new conservative or oppressive thing in the eyes of the Left, as it constantly evolves, it eats its own. The people they call TERFs now were once the vanguard of Leftist Feminism, used to bash down the door against right-wing patriarchy and family values that dominated the 1950s and 1980s. But by the time of the 1990s, the Left needed to present a family-friendly face after Reagan and George HW Bush won the elections, so they ditched said feminists and replaced them with the Clinton power couple and presented a more center-left face, although some parts of the Left continued to flirt with radical feminism. And yes, these radical feminists hated the shit out of trannies, the same way the old-school Commies of the Cold War saw the gays as bourgeoisie degenerates.

The Second-Wave Feminism that the TERFs championed called for displays of eroticism to destroy the patriarchy, but that didn't have the intended effect, as it just made men horny, but unwilling to dispense with things like family values or man's role in the household. They continued to believe that they should naturally lead. So the Third-Wave Feminists did away with and condemned the eroticism once promoted by the TERFs and the Second-Wave Feminists, and they plagiarized the Christian Right and promoted a more puritanical stance on sexualization of female characters in media, condemning them, not because it's explicit behavior that is improper in public media, but because it was pleasing to men, seeing "male fantasy" as something to be condemned.

This was rather odd, since by the time Third-Wave Feminism emerged, we were still getting off the Twilight and 50 Shades of Grey fads, where we saw women get off on things like strong, domineering men with biceps and pecks. So male fantasies were off the table, but female fantasies, not so much. I remember watching Spoony's rather negative reviews of the Twilight movies, along with Instig8tive Journalism's original videos on Anita Sarkeesian, around the same time in the early 2010s. The tail end of the Twilight/50 Shades era coincided with the start of Third Wave Feminism.

Then the Third-Wave Feminists began to support trans people, which was the main point of separation between them and the Second-Wave Feminists who saw trans people as a mockery of womanhood. See, the Second-Wave Feminists, just like the First Wave, still had some small notions of traditional womanhood buried deep within their propagandizing about how men were oppressive, and they saw trans women as men mocking women and taking their identity. Hence why they despised trans "women" since they believed that it was the ultimate mockery inflicted upon them by the patriarchy; that the female identity was something that men could steal.

However, the newer, LGBT-friendly Third-Wave Feminists saw trans people as oppressed by the same patriarchy that keeps them down. They began to see trans women as real women, not as men. Especially when the Left NEEDED the LGBTQ votes; this then caused them to further go away from the Second Wave Feminists' ideology and embrace the trannies as their own. This is what caused the Feminist Civil War between the TERFs who hated trans people, and the modern, Third-Wave Feminists who accepted trans women who were once men as women. The Left went full Order 66 and began to actively chase out the very same feminists who, in the past decade or two, were their vanguards. Basically, imagine the modern Left as clone troopers, and the TERFs as the Jedi, during the eve of Order 66, and you get the picture.

This should be a lesson to the Breadtubers and any would-be Leftists; you're only there to be used, and once you're used up, they'll gleefully toss you aside as what you once supported as leftist and progressive gets condemned as being part of the Neo-Masculine Hierarchy and sexist, or regressive, especially when the modern feminists' censorship tactics begin to mirror that of the Right in ages past. It wouldn't surprise me at all when in the future, you might see some future brand of feminism taking notes from the Second Wave and promote sexy chicks, traditional feminine/family values, or hating trans people, especially when one considers the fact that all the Asians, Africans, and Latinos who are coming in would certainly prefer that over the LGBTQ stuff that modern feminists preach, especially when the Blacks, Asians, and Latinos prefer sexy chicks in anime/manga over the strong proud LGBTQ queens in modern comics.

This reminds me of when The Amazing Atheist tried to refute St. Thomas Aquinas' Five Ways and it was so bad that it was kinda funny. For example when he started on the First Way of the Argument of the Unmoved Mover, Kirk literally said "Why couldn't it be a blueberry muffin?" If that doesn't paint a fine picture of the Internet Atheist community of the late 2000s through early 2010s, I have no idea what is.
