The New Atheists of like 10 years ago would probably criticize Islam, but the newer atheist youtubers of nowadays are all woke and won't criticize brown people religions even if they're just as bad as Christianity, if not worse. It's extremely pathetic, Atheism+ was a failure but their ideology has essentially won out in the end.

New atheism was infected with woke trash from the start. There was a controversy involving devon Tracy because he shit all over islam and a lot of the new atheist youtubers came to islams defence. Now yeah half the community back then would still criticize all religions but there was an underbelly of woke types defending islam.

I'd assume it's most openly atheist people came from Christianity or something similar and feel better about bashing it instead of islam, which they know nothing of.

Sometimes the new atheists would criticize Islam in passing but their main focus was on the largely overblown and exaggerated menace of Evangelical and Fundamentalist Christianity.

There’s no way of entertaining that hypothetical without changing so many basic assumptions that it’d be impossible to draw a parallel back to our own reality.

Euphoric atheists focused on Christianity because it’s what they knew. A lot of them probably DID grow up with overbearing religious parents who forced on them a faith they had no real attachment towards. Theirs is a fight of telling your parents to fuck off generalized to a crusade against monotheistic organized religion - not a crusade against religion that just so happened to focus on Christianity because it was the biggest dog in town.

It’s funny though, I had a friend from school who’s a pretty classic college liberal SJW... except his parents are extreme fundamentalist Muslims, so he’s hilariously anti-Islam.

Basically, for the euphoric atheists to have focused on Islam instead of Christianity, we’d need to be living in an alternate timeline where either Islam was the dominant religion in America, or the Euphoric Atheist community formed from ex-Muslims instead of ex-Christians.

Maybe it’s morphed into something different today, but I’m telling you it has a predominantly anti-Christian focus because it started as a domestic issue, against the domestic dominant religion. The religious right had it coming for a long time, just because the euphoric atheists evolved into SJW’s who are a million times worse doesn’t mean the original intent wasn’t well founded. On the other hand, very few white Americans have any real look into what Islam is “really like” so of fucking course they’re not going to care about this as much.

You don’t need some grand conspiracy about euphoric atheists wanting to destroy Western civilization when there’s the much simpler explanation of “you bitch about the things you have personal experience with and give more leniency to possibly-equally-bad things that you’ve never personally seen”.
