sounds about right - Clines has been getting progressively less interesting.
he starts with an interesting premise (like the Threshold series) but even in those he pads it out with exactly what you said meandering and tedious fight scenes , etc
14 and the fold were entertaining, despite suffering those problems...then it jus became unfocused and...meh..
I kinda fear that he's one of those guys that had a neat high concept idea or two and that was it and just the strength of the writing alone can't carry him
I hate to see someone actually get worse as a writer
outside of the Threshold stuff, I find him to be a bit of a snorefest (and I had high hopes for him after..yep listening to the audiobooks of 14 and the fold)

Also if you have more than the brain capacity of a basset hound (or don't care about retention; guess which camp john is in) you can crank your average audiobook on Audible to 2x or even 3x with no issues.
I usually run 1.25 - 1.5x for leisure listens, any slower than that my mind starts to wander.

Scam PAC's quarterly report is out. And, well, it's basically over. Wu said on her podcast that she'd just received a big cheque and she was staffing up for the midterms. That was before the report deadline, and there's no sign of any big donation. Donations are down by about 50%, and Wu's still spending beyond the PAC's means even though they did basically nothing this quarter.
The only one of Wu's minions still standing is Susan Dawson, Wu's pseudo-data scientist. This really begs the question what a data scientist is doing when there's no actual data to analyse. The only thing Scam PAC did at all was donate 2600 bucks to Jessica Cisneros in Texas. So less than 10% of the scam PAC money actually goes towards actual campaign activities. At least Wu had the decency not to pay herself any money this quarter.
It's clear at this point that Wu's completely checked out of Scam PAC. It exists only so Wu can claim to be an "Executive Director" of soemthing.

What the hell happened is not that people are losing their minds about a "small tax increase" they are losing their minds because its the 5th "small increase" this decade and there is zero oversight or accountability for the money.
They are paying like $800 to schools that don't work and allow trannies to rape girls and have it swept under the rug so the tranny can rape another girl in another school. Teachers get the shaft, but some of them deserve the shaft, and the administration is overpaid and bloated, filled with county patronage jobs and kickbacks to 'consultants'.
The product, which they are forced to buy, keeps getting more expensive but the results are worse. People have a right to be angry, and Gen X was always about being angry at SOMETHING.

I love how John's boastful posts about his hardware prowess are almost immediately followed by never seeing whatever he claimed to "fix" again and the purchase of a replacement item. I do not think he has ever had any success with hardware other than removing his own bait and tackle.
Those half-height arcade cabinets started out as junk, but there's not much to go wrong with them. The pinball machines will end up not only nonfunctional but essentially worthless and not worth the repairs for whatever stupid shit John does to break them.
