UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Why do Somalis look so different compared to American niggers (like Obama) who look relatively normal?
Both are strongly genetically (and visually) distinct from the Historical American Nigger, who's on average a far west African. Somalia and Kenya neighbor each other—nearly five thousand miles away from where our slave-descendant niggers come from. It's about the same distance to Rome.

I was feeling very doomery yesterday.

I was in an ASDA in the midlands. They had a whole halal butcher counter and were actively promoting that fucking sandnigger holiday with the nuts thats coming up soon. Like full ln christmas easter style aisle.

I Don't get out much in England and I live a pretty white area. This surprised me because I don't see shit like this often if at all. It's like a full on replacement of the local culture. Seeing this shit genuinely scares me and makes me fear for the future.

But the farms always makes me feel better because we all hate brown "people".

Not an entirely bad article on Zack Polansky by the Daily Mail this morning:

Talks about his political opportunism and his days as an Israel-supporting Liberal Democrat before his current persona.

And the new Renter's Rights Act came into effect yesterday:

I'm sympathetic to renters but to me this looks like the sort of thing that creates a raised barrier to entry which favours large companies / corporations. They make it high risk for private landlords and people who might want to rent out their own home short term - say an elderly person moving to assisted accommodation or someone taking a job or moving in with a new partner to see how it goes - whilst big property companies have the legal and financial clout to eat the risk of the odd bad tenant. Plus the banning of fixed term rental agreements is absolutely going to rule out a lot of small individual landlords.

It does create an extra burden. Fortunately, all the headlining about section 21 notices means they ignored section 8, which is eviction with justification. It's a lot narrower than a no-fault eviction, but there are ways to do it. Once you get that notice, the process is the same as a section 21. The tenant has to leave by the notified date. If they refuse, you apply for a possession order and send in the bailiffs.

The law as written is definitely intended to punish small landlords and "second home renters", for sure. It's already achieved that, and in the process a lot of housing has already disappeared off the rental market because it's not worth the hassle. I fully expect a lot of these properties won't get snapped up by big property owners, because they're not suitable for conversion to HMO and wouldn't be profitable enough as a single unit, so there's going to be a lot of legal wrangling and bullshit, and a lot of houses standing empty even while there's a chronic shortage. Next step will probably be the Greens and their hangers-on demanding seizure of empty properties by the state, so they can be given to SERCO and co for free.

The 19 year old arrested at Peter Kay is being held on a bomb hoax charge. There was "nothing suspicious" in the bag. No updates as to his name.
It's the Bham Fun Run this weekend for the Bank Hol, so I'm hearing police are on high alert.

The Green Party's page on 'Open Borders' has gone down. It's got to suck having constant fucking Somali stabbers, bomb hoaxes, churches and synagogues burning down, a gay bar being set on fire, rapes, more reports of men with knives outside schools, ruining your policy plans.

I think intellectually proportional representation makes a lot of sense, and I think it would solve a lot of problems for the two "big tent" main parties, but the fact that it would give the green party a fighting chance each election of ending up having influence on government policy means I can't be in favour.

I think intellectually proportional representation makes a lot of sense
Only if you get rid of any semblance of local representation and move over fully to national list sort of deal to properly WeimarMaxxx.
It's a nice idea intellectually, but it's not something that sounds right with out parliamentary system, we're supposed to have individual constituencies nshit and that doesn't go properly being split 5 ways.

As of late 2024, Asda is majority-owned by private equity firm TDR Capital (67.5%), with co-owner Mohsin Issa holding 22.5% and Walmart retaining a 10% stake . The Issa brothers and TDR Capital acquired the supermarket chain from Walmart in February 2021, returning it to British ownership.

Returning it to "British" ownership ? I assume this is like the Somalian born "British national" jew stabber in the week ?
Hate brown people, but helping line this billionaire's pockets ?

ASDA are on my list of companies I won't do business with. If you don't have a list, I'm sorry, but you're not trying hard enough.

Mohsin Issa
It's a shame really. The nagant is one of the cooler rifles but I guess it's to be expected it'd get jeetified when Russia has a massive border with arabs.

If you go to the midlands and want to stick to a list of companies too brown to do business then well I hope you're not staying there for very long.

I do, but it's a bit soft. I shop at Morrisons most of the time. Only go to asda when they're doing wine offers. It got pretty easy to stop shopping there when they started doing the halal shit and then started packaging their mince in vacuum-sealed packets. Whoever came up with that idea needs shooting.

I love this site because of the fucking wack conspiracy theories it creates. Where else in the world can you find someone wishing death on a company because of vacuum packed mince meat?
It compresses the meat into a solid block and makes breaking it apart so much harder. Fucking infuriating. Also fuck muslims or some shit I guess.

Unconfirmed reports (1, 2) of a girl being raped behind the County Hotel in Skegness some time last night or this morning. No updates from police and a lot of 'sources' are just saying 'a verifiable source told me someone was raped'. There's so many of these fucking patriot accounts reposting the same stuff, it glows. Hopefully it's not true.

A 'flash protest' poster was generated with AI, incorrectly putting the date as 'Saturday 3rd'. We need to learn how to use Photoshop, patriots.

"and then started packaging their mince in vacuum-sealed packets."

I feel very strongly about this too. It pisses me off so much.

One of the reasons I shop at a local butcher now. It's more expensive, but I hate breaking up the block of congealed meat into something that resembles mince again. The reason why I buy pre-minced meat is for the convenience of it being fucking minced, so the fact I have to then break it all up again to cook it ( there's steam coming out of my ears ) - what is the point ?

Sainsburys were the first and the rest fell like the mindless dominoes they are. Got to get those virtue points from Beaker "Bacon Sandwich" Miliband - they're saving the planet. Do they know what China, India and Russia are doing ? Vacuum packed mince is pissing in the ocean. But at least some flip-flop recycling, tree hugging, Jew Hating cunt can feel better about themselves for it.
If a supermarket converted back to proper mince, I would certainly shop with them regularly ( there are no Asdas near me ).
