I was just talking to somebody the other day about how Bully wouldn't fly in Current Year.

I spent the majority of a summer 100% the original. I'll take a Bully 2 when the pendulum swings back to irreverence (I'll take my rainbows now).

I have a feeling the words "punching up, not down" would be said in any press releases about it nowadays.

I remember my sister getting pissed off with me for finishing the game without her when I was sick from school. Funniest shit. I used get her to do the cheat codes on the other controller port. Good times. Tears in the rain and all that.

it's frightening that this could very well happen; for some reason the neon-haired game developers that have flooded the scene are obsessed with school themes for games, often basing their 20 minute "masterpiece" visual novels in them.
i loved the original bully back in the day and i had spent unfathomable hours on it with my second hand PS2, but if a sequel does turn out to be a super woke, race focused, zoomer speak mess, i won't even fuckin pirate it.

A game like bully would be focused on the class conflict heavy British schooling system where who your parents are is a part of your identity. Just like how GTA doesn't work outside of US because it takes a look at Americana.

It can still work but it would be less Simpsons and more like Family Guy where everyone is ruthlessly targeted if not already and treats everyone with equal disdain as LiveInvader, Bleeter and social media aadd a new dimension of misanthropy to the new age Bullsworth Academy. There may be a couple of innocent sacred cows like Lloyd but the game would still be brutally uncomprising about what zero tolerance, a crippling overdependence on drugging our kids did the social clique system

Bully 2 has been a rumor for years. My prediction is that Tom Henderson here is full of shit, and that Rockstar is going to keep focusing on their more well-known and profitable IPs like RDR and GTA.
I simply do not believe that a Bully 2 is in the works. Every year some wiseguy 'leaker' says that 'Oh, R* was going to announce something at TGA but for some reason they didn't!' Come on, wise up. This shit ain't happening.
Yeah, I'm kind of sick of Tom Henderson being declared some be all end all source when he gets shit wrong all the fucking time.
Yeah, this is ridiculous.

>Information is a bit blurry at the moment
>I have to be quite vague here
>Some people have been shown some material alluding to a reveal soon
>Like I said - Information is blurry atm
>Details are sketchy
>I have seen the report

lol fuck off, CNN anchor wannabe. Go practice your "sources familiar with his thinking" script some more and I'm sure Don Lemon will make you his understudy. Who actually falls for this shit?

It's crazy how quick everyone forgets that Tom Henderson was straight up 100% wrong about the Call of Duty Warzone Update last year. He talked all this talk about how the Warzone map was going to be completely new, that it was going to be a combo of all the Ural mountain maps, etc. etc. He said all this shit, claimed it was from reliable sources like a month before the update.

And then when the trailer leaked and showed it was just Verdansk with an 80's paint job, he was like "They totally changed it last minute and none of my contacts knew about it!" but gave no explanation why they would change that when all of the maps were already a thing, and completely glossed over the logic of something of that scale being scrapped just a month before the update.

So yeah, if he's being vague it's especially suspect since when he is super detailed he's also been fucking wrong before.

I watched this video that shows confirmed stuff leaked from a 2008 build of Bully 2

Basically it would be a continuation to Jimmy's story, the setting (or at least one of the chapters) would be in a summer camp, the town would be bigger than the first one, there's some concept art of suburban areas and of some characters including a war veteran and a fat goth girl, Jimmy's step-siblings would play a role in the story, the humor would be more risqué, there are some mission concepts such as one where Jimmy is in his underwear (???), a go-kart race and a beekeeping one. The build was 6 to 8 hours long.

From reading your summery and watching the video it looked interesting. I remember seeing leaked concept art where there's a prom and neighbors swimming in a pool, but I don't know for sure if those were from Bully 2, another Rockstar game or something else entirely. As a fan of the game I would like to see a sequel but knowing today's climate it would be too far different from the original game.

I agree, I would really like to see a Bully 2 however even if it isn't exactly what we expect so we can at least have something to discuss, "I liked/didn't like how they used this mechanic," "X aspect is interesting/boring/whatever," "Y fits the setting/doesn't fit in the game," "I feel the first game/this one did Z better" etc. Similar to Max Payne 3, which wasn't perfect but even fans agree it was an interesting take and better than never having a continuation to 2. It's very clear the plans for Bully 2 were in a very early stage at that time and it doesn't give us too much to go from but I would love to see NPCs reacting to and remembering your actions, it would fit perfectly in a Bully game.

Two things about Bully.

1) It will never happen nowadays, at least not under that name.
2) It will never happen except as a period piece.

The thing is, ever since Columbine, "bully" doesn't bring to mind wacky firecracker and water balloon fights, it brings to mind AR-15s slaughtering roasties and Chads. No, wouldn't work in the modern day. So if you're going to make a Bully 2, it needs to be a throwback, something to play on nostalgia for times past. (The original did this by excluding certain modern trends and technologies. Also, I never played Bully, so feel free to ignore everything I say because I don't know what hte fuck I'm talking about.)

Personally I think there's a ton of potential in a Bully sequel. There's two directions I see for it. One I see is play the high school angle, but with this gimmick: big focus on classes and extracurriculars, and one male and one female playable character to swap between. Setting? Probably 80s or 90s, that's about as recent as you can get before clown world starts taking over and seems like a stock setting for any high school movie that's not nostalgia bait (like Grease is for the Fifties). And I'd build it out of minigames. See, in the original Bully you had to do classes, right, but some of them had dumbass things like Chemistry being a rhythm game (???). I say go all in, Chemistry is like Kingdom Come alchemy, Biology is dissecting pigs and frogs like Surgeon Simulator, English and History has side missions for reports (like go to the town's old battlefield and encounter a ghost, or writing reports based around what you think will please the teacher as satire, you know). And then for extracurriculars you can have Guitar Hero like minigames for garage bands or if your character is a faggot then marching band. Have a little baby Madden/NBA 2K whatever for sportsball. Have QWOP for track and field. Like, build all the classic clubs into the game as parodies of the games that already depict them.

On the other hand, Bully could scale it up to a college setting by aping those old school fratboy movies like Animal House and Revenge of the Nerds. Imagine a freeform RPG where you end up in a shitty frat on probation and you have to turn it around and make your frat number one and win the big games (whatever the fuck they call those dorm games). Could even have thing where you choose who gets in and who you reject joins up with other frats and becomes enemies. I WANT TO PANTY RAID

Lot of potential in a Bully sequel, but only if it plays it close to classic movies in terms of inspiration. Because bullies nowadays take their virgin rage out on people with hot lead.

Bully didn't fly in the year it was released.
There was as a lot of outrage by retards that thought the game was a future school shooter simulator. Also boys kissing.
It got banned in some countries and stores.

If Rockstar didnt make it at this point, I actually dare say they shouldnt.

The minds behind Bully 1 had long since departed Rockstar so anyone that works on it wont have any of the old guard's creativity and "not giving a shit" attitude. It all ran sort of the "satire reality" that GTA did so its clear you werent suppose to take any of that shit seriously and actual bullying is something they looked down upon IRL. Its just a fucking game.

But we dont live in those times anymore. A game where you can do bad things cant be just a fucking game.

Its best if Bully remains an underrated classic untained by modernity. A time capsule to a better time in culture.

Well yea, that's because it's from a very different studio from Rockstar. I really don't want a Bully 2 as only its sole game will always be named as an underrated classic and, like you said, a product of its time (case in point, mid-2000s).

In a best case scenerio where Rockstar is fully commited to making Bully 2 it would still be subject to the snails pace of Rockstars release schedule. So maybe five years past the release of the next GTA.
See you in 2030, bully boys.

If they did make a Bully today, it would be modeled after nothing but new age millennial style writing by forcing themselves to act like kids from Generation Z, while issuing nothing but “micro aggressions” and ”wokeness” that not even Jimmy would recognize.
