Is this game gonna suck?

Apparently, there's an attack in Bully to where you can kick/knee somebody in the balls. Almost every NPC has unique reactions to said attack. How you do that, I don't know.

You hook up your Kinect and start kicking your TV. Don't worry, it might not work the first few times, but it will happen eventually. Just keep on kicking.

Oh, you're funny. I remember when I had my Kinect on my 360, my copy had a performance hitch during a mission.

So spin the analog stick BEFORE the prompt even shows up? I wish I remember how I pulled it off before. Ridiculous.
No you gotta like spiral outward and spin as you start. If you extend the stick to the edge of the stick's reach then spin (which is absolutely going to feel natural) then it wont work just kinda smoothly spiral from neutral to the edge and keep speed.

Tackle them down, then hold the attack button I think.
no its just tackle button twice you learn it in gym so I assume he meant some kind of standing kick? You can grab people, then hit grab against a wall to knee them standing so maybe that?

I was at a friend's house where his brother was playing games and overheard the familiar ConSumo sound effects and instantly recognised it. As a kid I always hated that Nerd hangout minigame and could never complete it, but now it feels way easier to beat.

Back to Bully, I hate Shop class on the 360. Your inputs with the analog stick do not register properly. Evidently, you have to do the motion, pause, and resume gameplay. Annoying.
Necro:

I figured out how to bypass that analog issue with Shop class. All inputs are predetermined patterns, meaning that each class will have the SAME sequence each time. You'd have to do the full stick rotation within the gap of the last input, meaning a second before the cue pops up.

Why Bully: SE was a disaster launch.

Renderware, the engine used for the original Bully, was bought by EA.
Bully released in 2006, in between the seventh generation of consoles.
Gamebryo engine was rented for a short period, game was outsourced.

I'm surprised the Wii version is the most stable port of SE.

Maybe, but it's not very playable. It's one of those Wii games where you're forced to use waggle controls, and you can't remap anything or just use a traditional controller.
I've played the Wii version. It's not bad. It's more stable than the 360 version from what I remember. The Wii remote does need to be regularly calibrated when you aim or move the camera. That's the worst I can remember from it.

Discuss everything about BULLY here, what you love about it, cut content, personal finds, and so on. Grieve about Bully II being canned for Max Payne 3 and RDR1 as well if you need. This game is extremely detailed for a PS2 game. The remaster is shit aside from the Wii version that builds upon the PS2 version (but sadly had to cut features like bloodied faces during boxing matches)
Here are a few beta builds you can use on dolphin.

Played the PS2 original as a teen and the 360 remaster some years later. The 360 version was fine on my end, but wasn't it plagued by massive problems for like half the playerbase?

It was buggier than the ps2 version and bloats the story with cut content side missions that make the narrative make less sense (drunk santa) before beginning Johnny's missions during winter. It also ruins a lot of the original cartoony PS2 art style in place of a Jimmy who looks like a weird balding adult now. Overall it has some cool cut content restored but it isn't as good as the PS2 experience unless you prefer having some more outfits and missions. The Christmas missions and extra classes aren't enough for me to care for this release even though I beat it before I tried the PS2 version. Should have been implemented better so it flows with the game more. Instead it bloats Scholarship Edition, and for the first time its one of the cases where I prefer that content being cut out for the original experience. The wii version of scholarship is the best version both because we have access to all sorts of its interesting beta builds and because it is a pretty refreshing way to experience the game which is modified from the ps2 version and kept the art style iirc.

What an absolute masterpiece, this came out months after I had started high school myself so the two coincided each other perfectly and with the guys at school also playing it we just copied shit in the game at school.

One thing about this game that was quite an interesting thing that I liked was the fact that when it came out I'm sure someone told me that Rockstar admitted there was some graphical elements to the game that hadn't been completely finished off but for me I liked the edgy grainy appearance to it. Hence this clearly had some truth to it since they remastered it and fixed the ''issues''.

Also to my recollection this was one of the earliest games to memory that went through seasons of the year. Loved seeing all the half-arsed Christmas decorations popping up in the shit hole dorm building.

The best part for me was starting from the bottom being the nobody and reaching the point where you ''Rule the School'' and can beat the fuck out of anybody, especially dickhead Gary.

Its too bad the remaster was rushed. I'm hoping they fix the steam port since apparently a development branch was added or updated but its likely just licensing. It has been broken and unfixed since 2015. And the Xbox 360 version has its buggy issues compared to the PS2 version. They're only maybe fixing the mobile anniversary edition lmao. And maybe an update for ps5 and Xbox since it was rated for them.

Rockstar really fell off. I'm hoping fans recompile and reverse engineer the source code of Bully so we can make our own fixes.
