So the new trailer for Call of Duty dropped and the trailer is interesting:

What do you guys think? Do you think it's going to have a Deus Ex level of a story or is it just pulling our strings?

Also, I didn't see a CoD thread so I figure I would start one. Any favorite Call of Duties? Mine are 2, 4 and Black Ops for the campaign, while 3 is for custom zombie maps.

Wow a setting that isn't ww2 or the modern world who would've thought they were capable of such a thing
They've explore other settings, such as near/far future, with Infinite Warfare receiving a ton of negative backlash for going too far in the future. They've done the Cold War as well with Black Ops 1 too.

I smell a russian bogyman from this but propaganda or no, it'll at least be more interesting than your standard CoD story.
I'm not really into CoD but Black Ops is considered to be the better written out of the bunch i think, they might be trying to do something serviceable for once.
Good hustle, but i'm not holding my breath.

KGB? I don't see it. It could be Afganistan...
In the Trailer it has Yuri Bezmenov (noted KGB defector) talking about how indoctrination and continuous violence from marxist cells will lead to destabilization. It might have Afghanistan but I do not know.

Who cares about a game with no story or gun-play mechanisms. There are no vehicles, no bullet drop, no range, no large maps, and no characters worth a shit. Battle Field and Halo were much better. CoD is a shooter that was made for the early 2000s, with zero effort.

The only good part about CoD is zombies, and they fucked that up.

Given the trailer has clips from Vietnam, the civil unrest in the 1960's along with clips of both American and Soviet events from the 1970's and 1980's along with some brief snippets of what look like the LA Riots from the early 90's, it's possible this could be a more story-oriented CoD with multiple protagonists in a pan-Cold War campaign and could have some post-Cold War missions very late into the game.

Not holding my breath tbh. The modern warfare reboot was promising an interesting campaign too, but that wound up being another cartoonish "Russia bad, CIA good" narrative.
Call of Duty generally tends to flirt with interesting ideas, but never does anything with them. Closest they got to doing something interesting was Black Ops 3, but the story wasn't told very well, which resulted in the entire thing being a complete mess.

pretty ballsy of them to use bezmenov footage in their trailer though, considering how popular the dude is with online right wingers.

There's already a /pol/ edit of the trailer floating around. It's pretty good, although I'm not sure why they included that bit of the NZ video, that's just ban bait.

Any chance of a single-player campaign or is that a thing of the past?
