Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

Still, I'm sure his estate would probably sue for libel if Activision tried to pull a fast one and make him some deep cover Russian supervillain. Including him in promotional material at all is one of those warning signs that lets you know the cultural narrative is starting to change.
I recall Manuel Noriega suing Activision for his portrayed likeness in Black Ops II.

And Cuba being upset that Fidel Castro was killed as a "body double" in Black Ops.

Dictators don't like being exposed in games.

True, although Yuri Bezmenov was a supporter of the American government after his defection while Manuel Noriega is in prison and no longer in power. Bezmenov's estate suing Activision is a far more serious possibility if Activision intentionally misuses his likeness.

I've never been able to get into this series, I like my games to be a little more in the escapism territory, when it hit it big with Modern Warfare in 2007 I was too busy playing Halo 3, Bioshock and Half-Life 2 Episode 2, all of which seemed way more interesting to me.

But now I'm definitely interested to see what this is, remember, the tiniest bit of pushback against SJWs is a big friggin deal these days, since it's all or nothing with those people, a video game sharing a clip loved by "right wingers" is pretty significant.

On a side note, who was Perseus? I can only imagine with the damage that has been done that they must have the actual head of the CIA at one time.

Best campaigns for me was Cods 1, 2 and 5 when it comes to World War 2. For the modern warfare, my pick is MW2.

I realized however that COD 5 is COD 2 with upgraded textures and lighting. They also remastered the Storming the Reichstag from COD 1. I used to play with a lot of mods related to Cod 1 and 2.

EA really dropped the ball with Medal of Honor after Frontline was released. The difference in graphics between Frontline and COD1 is night and day despite being released a year apart. Activision was started by former Medal of Honor developers.

Huh? Activision had been around for a long time before the first CoD had ever been released. They have a history going all the way back to the Atari days.

To be fair, MOH Frontline was a console game while the firs CoD was PC only. It would be better to compare it to MOHAA.
Anyway, Black Ops 1, CoD 1, 2 and MW OG had the best campagin.

You can say that again, Medal of Honor Rising Sun was such a shitpile.

I think they meant CoD was started by ex Medal of Honor devs.

I was such a fan of the first 3 Medal of Honors as a kid that it's weird that I dropped so hard off military shooters, somewhere there's an alternate dimension version of of me that is a CoD fanatic, but in this reality I started getting really into Japanese games and the rest is history.

Yeah, that's probably what @MrJokerRager meant, and the drop off point for me was a lot more recent. I always bought these games eventually, simply because I'm the kind of chump who actually likes the Single Player campaigns even in modern CoD titles, (and I will unironically state that the old WW2 CoD campaigns were good for their time and what they were) which makes me a pleb on some level, I know. The latest Black Ops not even having said campaign while costing an absurd amount of money, combined with the latest modern warfare apparently having a certain amount of woke BS in it just completely turned me off from the series.

Medal of Honor was my favorite FPS back in the day. I recent Warfighter for killing a great series (MOH 2010 was pretty decent) and I wish that MOH would have been still around.
and yes, Rising sun sucked balls. MOHAA is the best one and an all time favorite of me.

I hope they use Bezmenov and his lectures with his true intent and not distort them, but I'm not holding my breath. Even if they agree with Yuri I don't believe they'll forward his ideas and warnings outright. They'll just dilute them into a "government infiltration" story.

Unless Activision and Bobby (cunning and greedy devil that he is) have realized the woke crowd doesn't buy games, and decided to go full steam ahead in the other direction to capitalize on an underserved (non-woke) market. They could potentially break new records if they did judging by the trailer's reception.

I think one reason why I never got into this type of thing is I'm pretty terrible at online multiplayer* and always have been, I'm just not fast enough, since multiplayer is the main draw for something like CoD and multiplayer has always been a pretty secondary thing to me.

*I was pretty decent at Gears of War 1 and 2 back in the day, I miss being able to play those online and I can do so so at Halo, but everything else I'm pretty bad at.

Rising Sun was one of the first times the gaming press left me scratching my head, as it got decent reviews, but I thought it was total garbage, it was a very Emperor's New Clothes situation where I was like "but this game is terrible, isn't it?"

And that was that, never played another entry in the series, when Airborne was first announced it looked like a return to form, but then by the time it came out in 2007 it had changed to be more generic in a crowded marketplace where WW2 seemed played out.

I never thought the change to a modern setting made any sense for MOH since it was basically an unofficial Saving Private Ryan series, but if you say the 2010 game was good that makes me a bit curious.

I want this to happen so fucking bad that it hurts, I want gaming to go full on un-woke so fucking badly.

I used to hate Activision but if they spearheaded the change then I would applaud them, it's funny how the woke can make you miss greed, everyone used to complain about how "greedy" the gaming industry used to be but that was preferable to now because there was no pretense about who the audience was (young men)

I mean shit, maybe Gordon Gekko was right when he said "greed is good", hopefully greed will win out when they realize the money there is to be made by going unwoke and say "fuck it, who gives a shit?" and go for it.

Could've sworn he was still alive or that he died very recently. Might've been thinking of some other high-profile KGB defector.

Funny considering it was the same few years ago in Black Ops 2 where Jonas Savambi's family sued them for their portrayal of Jonas in the battlefield.

True but the fact they already got sued once means they're probably at least a little less likely to be so brash, especially in a rough economy. Call of Duty is rather infamous for having the shortest development cycles of any AAA franchise this side of Madden.
