Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

How are the camo challenges if you don't mind me asking?

Ive only played with LMGs, most seem to be level + some small challenge. Like one was get LMG to level 12 + 10 penetration kills. I think it works the exact same way as the MW2 challenges.

The gun levelling is fast I will give it that. I have every LMG including the MW2 ones maxed out. Once I get to 55 I am going to dive into the camos a bit, never been that kind of player but all my gold camos transferred over from last years game at least.

I ask because CoD had started doing bloodthirsty streaks (5 consecutive kills) as camo challenges. Those are annoying as you have to camp for the best results.

I am the worst person to ask about this stuff because I only play the games to turn my mind off and shoot (poorly). I only have some gold camos and have never had the patience to farm higher.

I did notice one really annoying one for LMG, get double kills without releasing the trigger. Its not that hard to get by accident on certain maps, but if I was just going for camo unlocks it would be a pain to farm.

Theres a lot of unlocks that pop up when I get a 5 kill streak though, almost every game I get one I unlock something, I think its usually a player card though.

I remember when Warzone blew up, MW2019 was treated as a side attraction upon boot-up. Then, when CW and Vanguard released, MW2019 (and those games) had those games on display upon bootup. Even if you owned them digitally, it would just boot up that game as normal. Then, what's the point? Now, it's an ad for Warzone 2. Not even MWII, WARZONE.
PRECISELY why I quit playing that game in the first place and switched over to COD Mobile for a while until I got angry they stopped supporting zombies on it. You know what? I feel vindicated, both campaign and zombies is now literally just reskinned warzone playlists and multiplayer has gone back in time to skinwalk an earlier game(and somehow is inferior to it in almost every way). Other than maybe Cold War zombies and campaign I did not miss out on a goddamn thing so far.
COD can go to hell, even if they drop warzone pandering, I'm not going back with how draconian AI monitoring is, how easy it is to get banned for no reason, with how many hackers are running around or even because they require you to give them your phone number if you play on PC. Fuck that, a burner isn't worth this shit.
Every single quality complaint seems like a macrocosm of what I experienced during the beta and early seasons of MW4/2019, so I'm glad they never got around to iterating on any of it except for making the in-game store being able to funnel even more of your money!

Excited to play more tomorrow, CoDs curse has gripped me yet again. For the next few weeks I will do nothing but play MP until I finally burn out, and then do it all over again next year probably.
The blessing of CoD multiplayer is how pick up and play the gameplay loop provides for its players. I'm sure I would have the same enjoyment with MWII/MWIII because it's CoD. It's everything else surrounding it (SBMM, cosmetics, Call of Duty HQ, storage, progression) that makes the experience less fun.

Yeah if cosmetics and battlepass bother you I would avoid. After every match the first experience bar it shows is the battle pass, so you are essentially fed an ad every 10-15 minutes.

Video that explains the unlock system
Remember when they introduced dailys in the OG MW3 and it was a nice extra? Did you ever think that you would NEED to do them to unlock gear in a COD game?
OG MW3 also introduced these things called "Prestige Tokens" that would let you unlock ANY piece of gear or perks/killstreaks you wanted upon prestiging, you would think tha-OH WAIT MW6 does NOT have prestiges anymore!
Vanguard and MW5 were legendarily grindy with their gun attachments, it looks like this year you get all the attachments you want and the real grind will be unlocking the gear you want. Good luck if that gear happens to be meta changing and people who have it will simply be better than you!

I am so confused, weren't they saying there wouldn't a CoD this year? I heard MW3 was meant to be DLC for MW2 but morphed into a standalone game.
I've also heard the multiplayer is just repackaged warzone and yet the devs struggled to release this on time? are they that freaking incompetent?

Correct, this was originally going to be DLC but MWII/5 did so poorly that Activision needed to boost their sales with a full 70$ per purchase. I guess it worked, the cattle still bought it, right?
To whoever talked about spawns, apparently Xclusive Ace helped Sledgehammer with spawns since they reached out to him before release, so if they're STILL as bad as people make them out to be after going thru them with a fine toothed comb? I wouldn't get my expectation too high if Sledgehammer already broke what was working just fine in 2009

They are still working on spawns I think. Release day they had to pull maps like Quarry because it was fish in a barrel with one team all spawning on one spot. Its "better" now and the games playlist is updating constantly (Quarry got added back in a few hours later with a fix) so I assume they are working on it over the weekend. Ive still had random games in Quarry and especially Rust with spawns right in front of me.

They changed their mind on that. Activision told SH that they could have a break after Vanguard and then turned around and told them to make this game, its why its so slapped together.

What a disaster, again the spawns were FINE in MW2, why they broke something when transfering those maps over to MW6 is beyond me. Hell, some of these MW2 maps were remade in later entries more than once, Ghosts had Favela and MW3/Infinite Warfare had Terminal, there is probably more too. I don't remember spawns being broken on any of these remake maps, Sledgehammer are just this incompetent.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't spawns a big issue in Vanguard, their last game? lol, lmao even

Even better, if you prestiged from previous CoDs, you'd get a prestige token for each accomplishment. It would even show your ranks below your calling cards. I don't understand the nu-CoD prestiging system.

Camo unlocks are why Shipment 24/7 exists. Everything except longshots can be done easily by standing in a corner and being retarded.

It's a shitty map and not fun, so it's my barometer. If I start playing Shipment 24/7, that's my key that I've stopped having fun and am just unlocking things for the sake of unlocking them.

That's how I've done the majority of my challenges on WWII and Cold War (Nuketown).

I said this once, I'll say it again. I miss when each faction in multiplayer had an unique announcer during multiplayer. It gave each map and game personality.

My personal favorite has to be SOG from Black Ops 1. Ice Cube did great work calling out scorestreaks and objectives.

I've always used shipment for just mindlessly grinding to unlock shit that I want to play with sooner rather than later in a different game mode that isn't easy to grind in. Either way, it's not a map designed to be fun, it exists purely because the games balance towards unlocks is fucking trash.

Same here, imagine my shock then, when shortly after release, basically what felt like weeks after game came out(start of Season 1) they removed 2/6 announcers in MW4/2019. That would be Demon Dogs(Griggs) and Warcom(the fed woman). The only official reason given was that they swore a lot, or the announcers didn't drink enough soy, whatever. Point is that the way factions are designed, you have 3 coalition and 3 allegiance factions, both of these were the "good guy" factions leaving only the SAS for blue team. Red team have all three announcers to this day: Spetsnaz, Jackals and Chimera. This means that every single map now has a unique red team faction and fucking SAS if you play for the blue team, it didn't used to be this way on launch. Really fucking weird, especially since Warcom and Demon Dogs were the best ones in the game(look up the voicelines on youtube).
That was the first time I felt a disturbance in the air and I still hate this decision to this day. Warzone shilling nailed the point home and I haven't looked back since, now I don't think there are any good spawn themes or announcers anymore, it's all gone(there aren't even any factions in Vanguard, it's "Your Team vs Enemy Team")

I finally managed to exfil the DMZombie map solo. What a pain in the ass. The servers are so bad, it starts lagging when AI soldiers show up.
I hope they add a real solo mode so I can just explore and kill zombies. Outbreak was way better, the maps weren't huge but if you were sick of it you could just jump to the next map.

New MWIII video by Griffin about the latest shit show:

Shipment 24/7 was great in CoD WWII, it was the best way to do the daily challenges and get the lootboxes.

Hold on, they added Plates to ZOMBIES?
What are they gonna do against enemies with no firearms? Are they taking the piss or is this mode THAT lazy?
What a disaster, good to see the player numbers are going down the toilet. Yet another common L for Sledgehammer
Sad!
