Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

I've always used shipment for just mindlessly grinding to unlock shit that I want to play with sooner rather than later in a different game mode that isn't easy to grind in. Either way, it's not a map designed to be fun, it exists purely because the games balance towards unlocks is fucking trash.
Fun fact: Shipment was meant to be a production map for split-screen testing. Somehow, it was added into the map pool by accident. Then, the rest is history.

The fun (and curse) of Shipment is how tight the map is with spawns and space. You SHOULDN'T take it seriously in terms of balance. When you're the one having a killstreak, it's fun. When you're the one being spawn trapped, it's horrible. It works both ways.

Shipment 24/7 was great in CoD WWII, it was the best way to do the daily challenges and get the lootboxes.
Basically, that's how I treat it.

I have booted the game and found out. Why the fuck is a game I paid full fucking price for ASKING ME TO PAY MORE GODDAMN MONEY FOR ANOTHER GAME AND HIDING THE GAME I ACTUALLY WANTED TO PLAY. Uninstalled, fuck this shit.
Is this what you're talking about? Or was that somebody else?

I've literally never heard of a game that installs another game while removing the current game you OWN. What a mess.

Back to announcers, I actually like how tactical the announcers are in MW2019-MWIII compared to the actiony announcers from MW2-MW3. BUT, this bears repeating, CoD wants to be a tactical milsim in an arcade shooter. Why have tac-aiming and interactive doors when you can bunny hop and slide cancel? And whose bright idea was it to add weapon tuning and swappable armor gear in CoD?

Looks like these are the 4 maps releasing in that new playlist this week. Shoot House was a blast I am glad thats returning, and I liked Crown Raceway, that long stretch in the middle of the map usually had some good fights.

As long as that highway map from last years game doesnt get added to quickplay I will be happy. That was probably my least favorite map in any COD.

Also if you guys are interested in the live reported bugs in this stupid game take a look at Trello.

I remember that raceway map was removed due to licensing issues or something. I HOPE that MWII/III would have a Shoot House/Shipment 24/7 mode.

Woke up to my friends blowing up our group chat complaining that they apparently ruined Zombies by getting rid of hoards during the extraction segments?

They're complaining that Call of Duty is not allowing fun anymore.
It's true.
Turning Zombies Outbreak into DMZ + Zombies with shitty servers was a huge mistake.
You can't actually play solo, there are still groups of players on the map doing their own thing, including those who exploit the extraction zones (and crash the server).
Outbreak was perfect for solo players, you could rank up and level up your weapons, etc. All they had to do to make it better was create slightly bigger maps with interesting landmarks and add more vehicles.

I want to text "I told you guys you'd regret buying this." but feel it'd be too petty.
All due respect, if your friendships are centered around a brand, you may need some new friends.

Oh, no, these two guys are friendship is mostly centered on where we used to work together lol

I have various groups of friends, these are just the guys I played Call of Duty with. I have a separate group I play Nintendo games with and they're the ones from my childhood mostly.

I spent the weekend playing Terminal 24/7.

That map is so great, I hope the playlist is still around this holiday weekend because all I want to do is kill idiots on top of the traffic control tower, or start the game with a double kill every time by cooking frags right into the waiting area.

The armory unlocks became a lot easier once I realized that when you complete all 3 dailies, you get a 4th thats just infinite points towards unlocks when you win. I got a lot of stuff unlocked over the weekend because of that.

The new upcoming changes that SHG are testing seem promising. Lobbies not disbanding, looping killstreaks, getting rid of that fucking tree operator. They still wont talk about SBMM but I like how the experimental playlist lets them test stuff out, so atleast it seems like they are trying.

I need to try zombies at some point, I went in once and had no clue what to do.

All they need to do to win me over is to release Tranzit 2.0 like they fucking promised like two times now(Call of Duty Mobile and supposedly being planned for BO4 DLC since all the assets were reused in some capacity across the game)
I don't give two fucks about Outbreak or the new DMZ ripoff, fix the shitty map from 2012 now that you actually have the technology to do so first

Anybody noticed how solider silhouettes appear slimmer then before in MWIII? I imagine they're more difficult to hit or spot, especially when they do "advanced movement."

So, is the MWIII multiplayer worth it to grab on Steam during a sale? Or did they fuck up the classic maps?

Replaying MW2019 for the first time since it released and my god this game is fucking ridiculous. Right off the bat the US general is Deborah Wilson, Alex is under command of a woman. Then everything involving Farah. I couldn't stop laughing during the mission where she's a toddler killing Russian soldiers. I genuinely can't believe anyone thought that was a good idea.
Also I must have had a hundred game overs from friendly fire, civilian kills etc or instantly dying because I wasn't doing the exact thing the game wanted me to do. Not exactly a new thing for Call of Duty but it's probably at its worst here. It might be worse in II and III but I haven't played those.

Anyway I was kind of looking at MWIII because it's been a while since I've played any CoD MP and the urge is striking me again. Then I watch a review and one of the first things I see is Diablo 4 characters running around shooting each other. Yeah I think I'll pass this Fortnite garbage.

If you need to know one thing about MWII and MWIII is that in the new "No Russian" mission you fail if you shoot a civilian. Also, most missions in III are just open world Warzone missions in reused locations from the mode with objectives(and awful AI)

I am going to disagree with @30+GameOvers and say the old maps are a lot of fun, but the spawns when you play Hardpoint specifically are kinda janky. The maps werent built for the gamemode so youll on occasion spawn behind the enemy team or right in front of them. If you buy it on steam you can probably refund so maybe give it a shot for an hour and see what you think?

I only play the MP so I cant speak to the campaign or zombies, but its been a total blast personally as someone who just casually plays these games on release for a month or so.

Based on my understanding it's not worth it even on sale.
  • SBMM is cranked up to 11
  • the spawns are fucked
  • you now get stuck going through windows on subbase
  • you can get suck under the plane on terminal
Allegedy, people are encountering literal bots in their lobbies. There will be players in there lobbies that are max level, but with default everything. These bot players will either be completely blind or or completely melt you based on your level in SBMM, but otherwise they all move and behave in a way no human player actually would. It may all be bulshit, but it sounds plausible to me.
