Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

Speaking of packets I have now started to experience the dreaded packet burst randomly. The game was running like butter for months with sporadic issues but now? I can barely play any mode now and all I have is packet burst.

I thought maybe my pc was dying but I’m pretty sure last weeks patch fucked something. I tried every suggestion in the book and nothing has worked.
It's the SBMM. It happens to quite literally everyone despite their actual connection quality, it's all based on how good you are and how many hours you put into the game. An AI is artificially making it harder to play for you so that it can get the most desired outcome it has already predetermined(probably making the game easier for some noobs on your team/enemy team)
Yes, this is just rubberbanding. No, you will not get away from this in any modern COD game. Yes, you will also experience this in BO6, that's why it doesn't matter how "good" the game will be when the games are already pre-determined like a casino game before they even start.
You have two options: Play XDefiant or an older COD game thru a private client, hoping there are still active. Or, you can still continue playing nu-cod and it's horrid, patented SBMM system that will continue rigging your games forever hoping that will make you go to the ingame shop, as this is what professional psychologists Activision hired told them would make them the most amount of money. Not gonna lie, with the amount of paypigs with ridiculously expensive skins and relatively little backlash after every single new controversy(like the 80$ Fallout Power Fist)? I am inclined to believe that this is some sort of psychological conditioning, not like COD fans are very hard to manipulate anyways.

Well, they managed to reboot the MW trilogy while completing suppressing the original trilogy in namesake alone. Modern Warfare 3 could be the reboot or the original because people are too ignorant to clearly differentiate the obvious name moniker between the two titles. Hell, Activision cannot even be bothered to preserve their legacy titles yet have the audacity to sell them at full price on digital storefronts.

It feels like Activision doesn't understand or care about their series legacy. They'll outright replace a previous title with little recourse only to have THAT title be dormant a couple years after its lifecycle. Who even plays MWII anymore? DMZ is a footprint for Warzone because they wanted to chase trends than make something unique.

I was leaning more to shitty servers, even zombies had the issue.

It can be both, MWIII servers in particular have to the worst in the history of the franchise, to the point I've seen players from other FPS games openly mock COD games now. Makes sense, since this is just a throwaway 70$ DLC for MWII, they will drop this harder than they dropped loot crates when BO6 comes out

I’m gonna try again when the update hits tomorrow but I’m just still baffled at how I’m suddenly getting consistent packet burst. It worked for months until last week so it can’t be my pc since every other game runs the same.

Best of luck to you. I can't even tell the amount of times the game's servers shit themselves this year, you can tell nobody involved gives the slightest shit if the game itself works anymore, just that the in-game store is up and bundles are being churned out.
The issue is most likely SBMM, like I said, especially if you can confirm your other games work fine. If that's the case, the best thing you can do is start a new BillyGoat57 account and invite your main account in a party so you can play with noobs, since that new account didn't have SBMM completely ruin it yet. That's how everybody from pro players to main COD fans to content creators have been getting "good" matches for years now, since at least Cold War or MW2019.

"Activision developed an AI-powered hobble-bot" seems less likely than "Activision cheaped out on online infrastructure for the most profitable game in their portfolio."

Oddest fucking thing it fixed itself but I changed from a wired connection to wifi???? Just to test it out.

Yep games fixed itself after 2 weeks, otherwise its a pretty mid (mid) season patch the new maps are okay, Spas 12 is interesting but cant have a shotgun be strong in a franchise with a fanbase so rabid for SMG/AR/Sniper dominance, I still play Warzone but the changes/gimmick were not major, and overall they must be waiting for Verdansk to drop to carry them to Bo6.

Actually kinda miss DMZ. This current iteration of Warzone was an over correction and call me crazy but I really liked Warzone 2.0 at launch but its all been erased in favor of appealing to kids who snort G Fuel.

I loved the changes they made for Warzone 2.0 at launch. I thought the 2v2 gulags were hilarious and the possibility of having to fight your former teammate back in the game was really cool. Not being able to buy your loadout within 5 seconds made finding good loot exciting again, and I loved all the NPC strongholds that were on the map. Sucks they reverted everything back to the stale formula within like 2 weeks.

So, I got some questions to ask; namely, how are MW2019 and WWII these days? For 2019, I remember having a ton of fun on it back in the day - at least before the devs put BLM shit in-game - but is the game worth picking back up, or just skipping? As for WWII, I never did much with that one; how's it playing these days?

Its almost never worth it to play older CoDs multiplayers as Activision doesnt do shit about the hackers, I honestly just wish they would have have one Call of Duty game that they updated overtime like other Multiplayer games these days (with Treyarch as the lead devs because good god does Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer fucking suck at making their own games), maybe the release cadence will eventually change now that Microsoft is in charge and not that Rapist Kike Bobby Kotick but im not holding my breath, at least Black Ops 6 looks fun with the new movement system and making original maps for once

I’ve actually been playing a lot of MW2019 MP lately.

Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve found it to still be really enjoyable once you get used to the more deliberate mechanics.

I have played some of the older CoD games recently; Ghosts and Advanced Warfare on PS4 don't seem to have many hackers, though they are very much crammed full of tryhards, so it can still be a pain to play sometimes. I have ran into a few hackers on BO4; not many, mind, but it's fairly obvious when you see a Lvl. 1 Ruin player throwing infinite Spectre swords and flying around like BO3/IW.

Still, they aren't as bad as the hackers on WaW or the Original MW; WaW was worse, since almost every single match, you'd be dealing with some kid floating up in the middle of the map, with aimbot guns and God Mode on. Bit spergy, but: I still get a bit angry at one particularly good match I had; managed to find a rare game that didn't have any hackers, managed to complete quite a few challenges, then some kiddie comes in at the literal last few seconds (as in, with roughly 00:08 seconds left on the timer) and hacks the lobby, rendering all that progress void. Didn't help that WaW was my favorite back in the day...

MW was pretty bad, though; I dealt quite a bit with people using aim hacks and similar, though I also ran into quite a few people playing prop hunt, of all things. That was fun, until the hacker inevitably got pissed, turned everyone's props to big red ERROR signs, then just teleported to each person and killed them. There's also the original Black Ops; it's all fun and games until you're dealing with some kid turning himself invisible via Theater Mode and ruining the lobby.

Sad that there doesn't ever seem to be any "fun" hackers, either; it's always about screwing the Multiplayer.

MW2019 was my favorite COD until the bullshit cosmetics showed up.

Hacking is gay and all hackers should die. Releasing a new game instead of a content update also saves Acti from having to actually deal with hackers. Plus, letting hackers ruin the old games pushes people to the new ones.

Joke's on them, I still play the older CoDs. Yes, even with the hackers; even WaW and MW can be fun. Certainly, more fun than the FORTNITE rip-off that they've got going right now, admittedly more thanks to the SBMM than anything else.

Actually, speaking of the CoD titles; how's Vanguard doing these days? MW2019 is... well, see above, Cold War seems to be doing alright, MWII and its "sequel"/glorified DLC are pretty much trash... not much talk about Vanguard, however. I mean, we all know the campaign is shit and the Zombies mode is "meh" at best, but how's the Multiplayer? Still shit, or has it gotten to be somewhat decent now?

I still play DMZ and Bootcamp.

I cannot stand regular WZ MP because it's all sweaty kids and bullshit constantly.
