Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

Thing map from Infinite Warfare...if you can get the game at a decent price, that is. Activision never lowers their base value for their games, while a key for IW for 5$ or so should be easy to find, good luck with getting the DLC below it's asking price!
I already bought Black Ops 2 and WaW at a premium price. Funny, the Black Ops II season pass is occasionally on sale for $15, but the sales for games are around $10-15 online. Last game CoD I'd want to buy is Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 6 (Vault Edition). Finding Black Ops 1 at a second hand store sounds possible.

Am I crazy to say it? Al Mazrah was a good map. My issue with Uzikstan is like its too fucking small at 100 players which sounds odd but it feels like no matter where you drop there will always be someone there.
I fucking loved Al Mazrah. The giant mountain and observatory in the middle, the airport, the compact caverns in the north, the skyscrapers in the east, etc. Every inch of the map was memorable and designed for different playstyles. Uzikstan felt really boring and unremarkable in comparison to me. The fact it's reusing so many assets from Al Mazrah due to Activision wanting to squirt out a 1 year DLC doesn't help either and it's obvious how rushed the map was.

I also miss Caldera, but maybe I really just miss the pacific biome.

I just noticed October is coming up. That explains my Zombies kick. Quite incidental.

I have one more Monster Energy code left. Can't edit my last post, but just like I said there, PM me if you want it. First come, first serve
Of all the Zombies maps you've played, which would you say to be your favorite, least favorite, hardest, surprising of the bunch? Of any developer category? I see you on the Dead Rising thread; I'm guessing you're a fan of zombie based media in general.
I don't really have a favorite, typically my opinion is the same as the popular one except I absolutely love Advanced Warfare zombies and I consider "Infection" and "Carrier" to be some of my all-time favorites. Infection reminds me of Dead Rising 3, so it's kind of a crossover, I believe both games came out at the same time as well.
The only truly "bad" zombies map I can think of is "Beast From Beyond" in Infinite Warfare zombies. That map throws everything into a blender and just mashes in everything from Infinite Warfare Zombies and Extinction into one tiny map...and I mean this in a bad way, the map is way too hard and absolutely not balanced for all the special enemies it throws at you. All the easter eggs are also obtuse, wonder weapons are a pain in the ass to get and main easter egg quest is pretty awful. Only upside here is that once you complete all the easter eggs in IW you get some fun features, like Director's Cut, not to mention the "real" final fight with the devil himself, which is considered one of the best in the series.
As for other maps, I believe every single one is a self contained experience and all the other ones have something cool or unique about them, even Tranzit which gets too much hate in my opinion. I treat them individually or compare them to other maps in the same game and enjoy all of them, except for Beast From Beyond of course. There is too much competition for a top 5 or a top 10 or whatever, but I am sure many youtubers made lists like this and mine would likely look similar(just add some Exo Zombies maps into the mix).

Some of the OG MW2 build tools got leaked recently along with the source code. Sadly nothing related to the mapping tools leaked from what my retard ass could see.
The big thing imo that i saw was assman or "asset manager". This should cut out a lot of the manual shit you had to do previously when modding MW2.
Sadly im too retarded to figure out how to build all this shit. Theres also bunch of other stuff i have no idea about.

I hope that this begins to open the doors for some singleplayer mods for MW2. I know CoD 4 has quite a bit, but I think it would be neat to get some for MW2.

With Black Ops 6, I see myself playing more objective based modes since those suffer from lower population as the game ages. Search and Destroy can be quite fun for the XP gain and one life tactical suspense.

The Nu-Call Of Duty reboot plots might be more's retarded than Ubisoft historical revisionism that gay black samurais were a thing in feudal Japan. According to Nu-MW2 the Mexican cartels wouldn't be so powerful as they are if the cartels never teamed up with Russia and Iran. Because the United States didn't have a big demand for drugs and human trafficking before the Russian and Iranians helped. Helping Iran smuggle missiles into the United States will cause the Feds to build a wall and enforce border control, which will help the cartels by increasing the demand for the drugs because the drugs will become hard to smuggle?

I am a massive fan of zombies,
Shi No Numa was an interesting concept in retrospective. Four perks stations in separate huts that randomly spawn per game. The swamp water slowing you down (but not the zombies) gives you a sense of dread of being swarmed at the wrong time. Hellhounds were a good concept to give you breathing room and to restock regularly.

I hate how people quit when they're down waiting to respawn. We could've done the Mob of the Dead Easter egg if one did not quit. On the bright side, I had a great game in Shi No Numa to round 28 for two grindy achievements. I do not miss Quick Revive being only useful in co-op.

one of the best things Nu-CoD has done is let you select multiple modes you want to play and put you into only the modes with lobbies, Im not the biggest fan of SnD but I do enjoy TDM,Domination and Hardpoint, I fucking hate Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer though, it took enough people bitching to get modes like Capture the Flag back, Treyarch tends to be a lot better giving us variety in objective modes so hopefully they can do a better job with Post-Launch support

the top executives at Activision were hypocritical Neoliberals, I think the retarded techbros at Microsoft may even be preferable to Kotick and his DoD Cronies

Black Ops 3 is both globalHomo and Chinese propaganda at the same time. Black ops 3 is so poorly written. They still accidentally made CDP sympathetic despite writing them as comically evil. The Common Defense Pack is clearly supposed to be an analog to BRICs the same way Winslow Accord is supposed to be a hybrid of NATO and the EU. Yet Black Ops 3 writers want people to ignore China, the economic and political leader of Brics at the same time. The CDP military is half Russian and half United middle easterners.

Didn't China become BFFs with USA in that timeline? They do that in BO2 if you go for the good ending where you save everyone, they save USS Obama(lol) from Cordis Die mercs and the second cold war ends. At least that's why I assumed we never heard of China in BO3, they're either part of WA or at least chill with them.
I don't care what people say, the story of BO3 is kino. They could have made it a boring war story in a world nobody cares about, but the genius lies with the main focus of the campaign being on your own schizo delusions, making the entire conflict with WA and CDP essentially background noise for Multiplayer. The "plot twist" is kinda cringe and I don't consider it canon, however.
I can only imagine how much more KINO BO4 would have been, both it's futuristic story and the more grounded one that the final game had, should the game have launched with a single player that is. There is enough leaks to show how it would have went down either way. Funny to note that in the futuristic campaign that would have actually been a sequel to BO3, the concept of nations slowly fades away into obscurity and the two factions are more about ideals(imperialist NWO faction vs one lead by people who want free rule). It's been a while so I could be wrong about that last part, story and how it would have played still sounds interesting tho.
Shame we will never get another jetpack COD either way, since apparently those have been retconned to be "bad" so now we will just get a shitty nu-MW reskin every year instead.

It was a hero shooter, but the "heroes" were faceless soldiers, which made them more charismatic than Treyarch's version of Avengers in BO games and whatever Sam Maggs had going in Vanguard ironically enough
Speaking of Sam Maggs, you hear that she's hosting some kind of "drag king" event? She's also going to be on this year's GDC on March 2025.

And this is Sam Maggs right now.
