Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

I haven't boughten COD CW but is it worth it just for Mauer De Toten? The online looks below average to mediocre too which might be worth it.
I'm not a big zombies fan but the large open world maps of some of the zombie modes are pretty fun. The maps are massive spaces that are shared with the other game mode Fireteam.

It's really different than anything else in the Zombies franchise. Of course the standard Zombie gameplay with the smaller more linear maps are there too.

Cold War isn't a bad game, it just feels more stripped down if you were used to MW2019.

I was thinking about getting the newest CoD game since I like the era it's in but they didn't show any real gameplay. It's been almost a decade since I last played a CoD game.

Vanguard is having a free alpha right now if you want to download it and try. Keep in mind the game is literally MW2019 in a trench coat, so if you didn't like that you won't like this.

I honestly don't understand why they still have yearly releases at this point.

I don't know a single person that would have been upset at Modern Warfare just continuing for another year while they actually got Cold War ironed out.

And after all the criticism of Cold War, they're going to go ahead and push Vanguard out now?

It really makes me wonder if the people spending all the money on skins and shit actually play Warzone or if it's just streamers that make it seem popular.
I’m going to offer a theory on why.

Activision is a very investor focused company. Every year they release information on sales of their games for investors and they love saying they have the number one selling game with CoD every October-November. Activision is also livid when they don’t have the number one slot like when Red Dead Redemption 2 came out, Black Ops 4 wasn’t the best selling game on consoles, which lead the Treyarch Devs saying they would of won if PC was factored in, however if you do the math, it would of meant PC outsold console which wasn’t plausible for BO4.

Getting CoD every year and getting those sales out performing every game this year is what old investors want to see and Kotick slowly realizing that his business model is going out of date and burning out every studio not named IW.

You haven't missed a damn thing. Black Ops 3 was an anomaly as it was pretty fun to me, and I'm an oldfag that really only liked the CoD4 to MW3 era and hated the whole jetpack/flying around/futuristic bullshit they started introducing. Outside of that, absolutely nothing noteworthy has come out of this series in the timeframe you've missed out on. If MW3 or Blops2 (yuck) was where you left off, that was a pretty good place to call it quits.

I've been looking for a way to describe Cold War tbh. It just felt a little barebones and basic in every way compared to MW2019.
Probably because half of the shit in the game was rushed in at the last minute to "match" MW2019. The concept of gunsmith wasn't even planned to be in the game until the devs were mandated to add it when it was popular in MW2019.

I just want another Quake. I'm a newfag to it and my first and only experience with it was Quake 4, but Raven knocked it out of the park. I'd hope they don't try and copy the modern Doom games since that would be doomed (pun intended) to failure, and focus on making a mil-sci-fi shooter game.

bruv are you high if the remaster of Quake 1 is anything to go by yeah quake 4 2 ain't gonna happen considering how bad that game has aged ( generic milltary shooter )

Call of Duty Zombies went from a passion project, to a cultural phenomenon, and now a mandatory addition for Activision.

Even the developers within Treyarch themselves didn't like TranZit. Or at least its execution. I personally did not like the direction they went with Zombies being a horde mode to a narrative-focused quest fetch. Mob of the Dead I felt was a perfect balance between depth and simplicity.

Activision's second mistake with Zombies was locking Zombies experiences behind DLC. Make a good first impression like Black Ops 1 did. Don't give players a half-assed experience and have your core developers rush out something with DLC.

This is one of the few things that's objectively better about the latest entry. It was especially bad with black ops 3, where the one launch zombies map, shadows of evil, was quite complex, on par with something like mob of the dead. I love shadows but it was super strange to have it be the launch experience that new zombies players would get.

CoD hasn't been good since CoD 4 (CoD2 if you're being puritan) (CoD Black ops 1 if you're being generous)
I've been a singleplayer fag so BOII is fine to me. Anything beyond that deserved to be purged by a flamer.

Sad that CoD3 was my first CoD, then MW on the Wii

Oh goodie, that's my cup of tea alright. And announcer seem to have some intimidating voice and attitude like Bri'ish anoouncer in MW'19

Looks like Dredd to me.

Jesus Fucking Christ, they really are going the Fortnite route with Warzone, huh? You think they'll get Karl Urban to voice him? They got Sly on retainer? Or is there any other iconic Dredd voice I am not thinking of?
Are you fucking retarded? Pay Karl Urban or Sylvester to voice lines? Why the fuck would they ever do that when they can do exactly what they did for the John McClane and Rambo skins where they paid an intern 10$ to torrent the movies and clip out voice lines.

Won't that be violating licensing rights? They are selling clips from a property that isn't there.
