Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

I think a game playing as the Axis could be really interesting but obviously impossible today. Perhaps there was a brief window around the time the first call of duty came out, but we are simply too far gone for that now.

Basically I think you could tell an interesting story on the Eastern front. These were some of the biggest battles of the war and honestly I think you could tell a really brutal grim dark war story, especially if it took place after Stalingrad and it was a tale of constant retreat and desperate fighting. I think perhaps the games ends on a positive note where you save your family from the advancing russians or something.

What, save them from the glorious liberators of Europe? How horribly fascist of the main character to deny his family the salvation of Marxism-Leninism.

I mean, you can't bring up the fact the Red Army raped, pillaged, and murdered their way through Eastern Europe in this day and age.

It sucks the multiplayer didnt do f actions since the gore in this game dare I say surpasses World at War.

Prestiged over the weekend. Have a few thoughts

-MP is fun. I really like the MG42 and the STG. STG feels pretty strong though so I decided to stop using it after getting it to 70.

-MP also feels a bit fucked in some ways. I am on XBOX and my friends are on PS4 and PC. When we group together I get fucking slaughtered. There must be some hidden ELO system or something because when I queue solo I do great, positive K/D and generally feel like I contribute well. When I play with them I get stomped every time. I know my one friend is much better than me so maybe I am just going against higher tier players when with him.

-MVP system is cool, but holy shit does it take way to long. Everyone still has the default animation so its aggrevating to sit through 30 seconds of the same handgun animation and then vote for who sat next to allies the longest.

-Play of the game never works. I got a 13 kill streak one game but my play of the game was me shooting one guy and dying.

-Game runs great on the Series X but theres some weird glitches. I find myself closing it and reopening whenever my rank gets set back to 1.

-I hate the Japanese traitor. I am Japanese myself and he says shit like "You fight like a samurai" and it infuriates me. The lesbian lady is who I have played the most since she gives bonus XP to the MG42. She says shit like "I will never let anyone touch me again" and its really cringy.

-I like that the operators give bonus XP and have their own progression though. Its a bonus and gives you a reason to switch it up. I do wish there was a randomize all button with them though. The lack of Nazis to kill is weird though. Its like we are all clones of the same people killing each other.

-Spawns are fucked. If you get the map Das Hause on anything other than 6v6, prepare to either die on spawn or kill people on spawn. Hopefully like the tactical queue, this gets fixed quickly.

-Zombies sucks. I do not have a history with the game mode besides WaW and CW, but this mode feels shit. Its slow, boring and while I like the idea of the roguelite perks, it feels super bare bones. The mystery box feels like shit as well with nothing cool like the ray gun. Probably wont touch this mode until it gets some updates.

Overall I am enjoying it. MP is fun which is all I really care about. I will probably check out the campaign eventually but I have 0 expectations on that front.

The closest thing you get to that is World at War's Russian campaign. That shows more of the violent tendencies the USSR had, not the raping part.
WAW's campaign was great because it didn't give a fuck, and was the polar opposite of the shallow hollywood-ified WW2 games they crank out now. But at the same time the violence had meaning, and wasn't just there for mindless spectacle like in games such as BO3.

WaW was awful! There wasn't a single POC or a transgendered person! Why wasn't there a mission where instead of raising the Amerikkkan flag over Iwo Jima your trans BIPOC character raised the Pride Flag!? Gah, this makes me so angry!!!!!! I don't have the spoons to deal with this.

To be frank, I've skipped out on CW and Vanguard, and am just waiting for the Modern Warfare sequel next year.

Seriously, Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2019 wasn't always successful, but it was at least something. Its slower paced gameplay and bigger maps may not have pleased everyone, but I welcomed it wholeheartedly, and consider it to be one of my favorite entries in the entire franchise, believe it or not. The smart thing for Activision to have done, given how rushed and half-baked the recent two COD titles are due to both having troubled developments, would have been to delay both into the year after the one they released in, and continue supporting MW 2019 during 2020 and 2021, giving both Treyarch and Sledgehammer the time needed for polish. Many players and COD fans online have expressed similar sentiments.

But nope, Activision just threw out a extremely well polished game that still had tons of potential left, and went back to the drawing board, putting all their support behind two titles that take steps backwards to the more repetitive and safe era of COD, rather than trying to advance it like MW 2019. It's not unlike how they drag any developer under their wing that is making well-liked and solidly selling games over to the COD mines (Raven Software, Toys For Bob, High Moon Studios, Beenox, etc). Heck, here they may have done so because of the troubled productions CW and Vanguard had. Again, rather than delaying them for polish, they instead threw many talented development houses, franchises, and even their best-selling COD game under the bus, just to make that yearly release that was not needed this time.

Man, is it ever infuriating. Gotta please those investors amirite?

Due to recent events (prosecutor trying to play the "you play COD, you're a killer"-card).

Is it me or is Vanguard a step down from WW2? This game is basically a $60-70 reskin of Modern Warfare 2019. No originality whatsoever. You'd be better off getting MW2019 and Cold War.

I never bought the last 3 CODs, but vanguard looks really uninspired. At least in WW2 you had prestiges, divisions, one perk per class, DLC perks and weapons that you can buy. I think a lot of people forget WW2 changed a lot of things about COD which should be brought up.

Do not forget the ability to cosplay as a Black female Nazi in multiplayer.

And loot boxes at the Crucible beaches of Normandy!
