Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

melee basically doesn't exist in this game, its such a fucking hassle the range is so small that as long as the enemy walks back and shots you will die 100% of the time despite being in range

also unless there is a doublexp weekend don't play. i'm amazed how slow progression is. while on the flip side challenges are much easier. i've probably got 100 hours or more in cold war's mp and didn't get more than a quarter of their challenges done, while with 10 hours of play. i'm nearly done with most challenges, in vanguard, and honestly the slog to unlock weapon attachments has turned me off of playing, 70 levels for one gun, which will be underpowered as shit. and thats with me cheating by just getting a shitload of kills in objective modes, the campaign doesn't seem like much either, if i play later on, i'd be quite impressed if i do it for another 10 hours. also the maps suck. lots of long corridors and wide open spaces. it got to the point where half the team would be sniping because its so impossible to hit back even if you did go around and get up close, there is usually only one location to get onto roofs, and no way to vertically get up like with the ropes in previous versions. you can tell which ones they brought back from previous installments because they're just better designed.

The battlefield aping wih the destructive environments is obnoxious too. most parts of the map will still have their destructible windows intact because of how quickly the matches go.

also while i'm sure there will be better operator/challenges, the ones given suck, also the way things look either the seasons will be much shorter (30 days) or more likely COD is planning on skipping a year. they show only 9 spots on the mp for vanguard seasons, cold war had 7 spots placed. And the way the new map is going to be in the pacific for warzone; it would be hard to justify in an acceptable way if they're planning on a sequel to MW/CW in 2022.

beyond that we only have 12 operators, which all need to be unlocked, meaning most people on both sides are playing the same 3 or 4.

also can someone please fix the edit function, i'm much rather go back and edit the last 5 posts into one long one instead of this bullshit

When a new update comes on Warzone:

i mean just from what i've seen on twitter the amount of browns that helped the nazis because of colonialism is huge. and that would be a pretty good plot, to the main character they're helpful rebels fighting in ww2 against the bad guys, then the twist.
It's actually criminal how some parts of WW2 will never be portrayed in video games.

For example a campaign where you play as a finnish tank commander in the winter war and continuation war. Usually outnumbered 10 to 1 and forced to scavenge for supplies and reserve parts for your tank.

A chinese nationalist having to fight the japanese, the reds, rogue warlords, and bandits in rural China

French soldier during the fall of france

Romanian or Hungarian on the eastern front

Allied or japanese soldier during the Burma campaign

Estonian fighting against the Soviets from 1939 and all the way to way into the cold war

Yugoslavian partisan

The Greeks defending their nation in 1941

A german soldier from the start of the war and until the very end, in fact you could go even beyond and end it as a foreign legionary during the cold war

Who gives a fuck you know who tired that unknown WW2 shit? Battlefield 5 and it fell flat on its ass since all people wanted was Normandy or Market Garden. No one knew the battles let alone cared for them its the sad fact.

Not that battlefield 5 was that daring either. Oooooh, British in North Africa, daring aren't we. Or portraying french colonial troops that hardly saw combat as well

Both Battlefield and Call of duty take great liberties with their ww2 portrayal because the actual war is more complicated than the burger king kid's club beating a black clothed ss officer to death

In fairness, Battlefield V barely took advantage of that angle, they even retconned a real Norwegian commando operation into a mother & daughter operation. The closest they got to portraying an "unknown story" was the post-launch missions featuring a German tank crew holding off against the American invasion.

I'd be fine with unknown WWII stuff if it's done competently, but it needs to be paired with the more iconic battles.

How would those unknown events be "iconic" if nobody knows about them?

When I think "iconic" with CoD levels, what comes to mind is CoD2's second Russian mission, 2's D-Day depiction, 4's sniper stealth mission, WaW's Zero mission and WaW's ending level.

(When I say 2, I mean Call of Duty 2, not Modern Warfare 2.)

World War Woke. Damn, Vanguard is getting obliterated by this guy. :story:

How pozzed does one have to be to rewrite WW2 in conjunction with woke politics?

I think what annoys me the most about this franchise is the file size of these games. I want to play MW2019 or Cold War but these games would take up 1/3rd of my hard drive. I looked up the space you'd need for MW2 Remastered and the fucking thing is like 60-70GB big. The original was about 9 GB or so if I remember correctly.

It really stuns me how a game like Batman Arkham Knight is somehow less of a space hog than a single COD campaign from 2009.

I like 21Kiloton, he's got a good sense of humor. He's one of the few people who criticize Ubisoft and Massive for fucking up The Division 2.
Worth a Buy was planning on doing a separate video on the historical revisionism of Vanguard but he broke his arm so he can't edit the videos.

I'll give Vanguard credit for getting things to a far more reasonable 65 GB, hope future CODs do the same.

Yes, I know this is before its version of Warzone comes out. I can only hope it doesn't cause the game to badly bloat.

That’s the thing Sledgehammer goes out of their way to make people happy yet still get hated in a lot of peoples eyes. The story, and aesthetics are main focus over QoL shit most casuals don’t care for.

Look at MW2019 they didn’t budge over anything due to that games success infact they ignored most criticism because they can. While sledgehammer bends over and takes it all up the ass.

Sledgehammer's last success with CoD was with Modern Warfare 3.

Its all uncompressed files 90% of the time. See, consoles struggle to unpack and load compressed GFX and SFX files, and your average PC does not. So instead of compressing things for the PC releases because that would make console players feel bad about their machines, they just dump a 65 gigabyte spew onto everyone.

Romanian or Hungarian on the eastern front
That'd be extremely fun. The Romanians and the Hungarians hated eachother and fought. Maybe make a mission where there's a four way battle between the Soviets, the Italians, the Hungarians, and the Romanians.

At this point I want some WW2 sim like MGS3 tried at times.

63 of those gigabytes are store skins
