Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

I have no idea. Then again, the founders of SHG did leave the studio either before or after COD WWII was released, so there's that.

As for MW2 2022, I'm trying to keep my expectations in check. But man, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little bit excited for it. Not only will it have a 2 year life cycle, but it has been worked on for much longer than the previous two games (helped by it not having a troubled production like Cold War and Vanguard), and despite its flaws, I enjoyed MW 2019, so I look forward to seeing how this new game will turn out, for better or worse.

After two mediocre titles that I passed on, it's nice to have a least a little bit of hype for a new COD title, if only a smidge.
The founders were assholes too

Can't have 1000 high-res downloadable skins that you'll barely see in-game without putting them all on everybody's drive.

Isn't Cold War also like 130 GB? Funny how a game like RDR2 is somehow smaller in file size than a COD game.
looking at it, *everything* together is 129 GB. Without the high res assets, its 49 GB. I don't play Dead Ops Arcade and uninstalled the campaign so it's basically sitting on my PC at around 40GB.

I think that's what annoys me the most about Call of Duty now. Make a ton of immersion breaking skins that I don't want to buy or see but have them take up 100+ GB of space on my drive just so some zoomer can have them to look flashy in game and I get to see it.

I wish there was at least an option to turn off certain skins so I don't have to see them in game but it probably isn't in Activision's interest to do so because its free advertising for the skin.

I remember when seeing a weed tinted skin in Ghosts was immersion breaking. Now it's anime in a shooter intended to be more grounded to reality.

I'm not a CoD player anymore but this talk about how bloated Warzone and other new CoD titles got me thinking. Today I'm more into heavily modded Skyrim using more mods, especially 4K textures, than your average mod user. Want to know how large my mod folder is?

Add to that the 13 gigs for the base game that has a game map far larger than Warzone. I've got literally dozens of NPCs with jiggly titties and asses, life-like trees and animals, armors with capes and skirts with 4K textures and physics. Unlike CoD I have a choice between first-person and true third-person combat akin to a Souls game and followers with thousands of lines of dialogue including specific dialogue for events and locations. All of these mods are made by amateurs that are mostly not professional devs.

So, what the fuck are CoD devs doing?

Honestly, the anime skins from MW never bothered me, hell some of them looked nice. I can totally buy that a PMC might paint their gun a nice solid color and etch a cute girl into the side or put a sticker on.

The big problem was when CW started infesting it. "Here's a gun that's a motorcycle". Not only were CW guns just fucking ugly by default thanks to their parts looking like they were cursed, but then they started throwing in some of the worst cosmetics I've ever fucking seen. CW also can't excuse anime skins because a) anime didn't look like that in the 80s b) all characters are either feds or Russian super criminals.

What I'm getting at is that CW completely ruined Warzone for me, and the zombies mode doesn't recoup the amount of damage caused by being released.

To be fair, the Skyrim map repeats textures a lot more than the Warzone map does

Wait, Cold War lets you not install the high-res assets? Can't do that in MW 2019/Warzone. Oh yeah, and when CW came out, they straight out took away Modern Warfare from the launch menu and renamed it "Warzone," it was confusing as hell.

I'm sure they'd claim it's because Modern Warfare was on the "better engine" or whatever, but yeah, being able to keep it under 50Gb when I mostly play in 1080p anyways is great.

My Warzone 2 wishlist since I actually like BR

-More small rebirth maps

-Curb the silencer meta

-Curb large magazine meta

Thats kinda it actually? I never had a lot of complaints the weapon bloat and Caldera being kinda meh is what is holding it back right now

-Curb the silencer meta
I don't think there's a possible way to curtail this. Silencer's provide something of indefinite value, being able to engage others without anybody knowing your exact position. It doesn't matter how heavily they nerf that, it's a means of affecting information available to everyone. That's too powerful.

Honestly, the only thing I ever wanted in WZ was:
  • More maps. Don't give me a temporary map/mode just to remove it next week. I want to be able to do like PUBG and pick what flavor of ass kicking I'll be receiving.
  • Fix the gun meta. Every gun should be 7~9/10. Before CW, that's how it felt with the exception of a few guns that were clearly 10/10. Then CW launched, and several guns were 14/10, and MW guns were obsolete and worthless in comparison. Why use MW guns when in every single instance, the CW guns are just better.
  • Be faster on fixing glaring bugs. It's aggravating losing your 5th match of the night because some asshole is using the stim glitch and you have no hope of winning.

The problem is monolithic not only suppressed your position but it also straight up improved the gun in terms of velocity and range. Keep the suppressor feature but remove the positive to velocity.

I don't remember it doing that, didn't it just reduce velocity less than the other 2 suppressors?
