Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

half of this bullshit doesn't unlock either. just won golden plunder by a country mile and that challenge is locked hard.

I hate this game so much its insane, the amount of times people take contracts and not do them. or just stand around a buy station not buying anything. why would you do that. honestly i've just quit videogames altogether because of these people.

So...don't play it?

It's not even worth finishing a season pass if you hate playing the game. Just drop it. I bought Halo Infinite's pre-season pass but stopped early because it wasn't doing it for me. Forcing yourself into something you hate isn't healthy.
Same. I'm guessing hype from MW2 carried over with MWII. I'll just wait until Game Pass.

MW2 was cinematic, MW2019 was dramatized. It tried to be a movie if that makes sense.
I haven't finished MW2019's campaign yet due to time constraints, but from what I played I have to give it credit - it felt a lot less arcadey and had a sombre mood over the whole conflict, which is good imo. Dramatised sure, but open warfare should come with a sense of impact, which they did pretty well. The Farah (?) girl being the rebel leader was still a total crock of shit given the culture she's working under, but I could overlook that discrepancy.

I’m interested in modern warfare 2. Modern warfare is the most consistently good cod series, and imo there’s not a single bad MW game. I think infinity ward will do good with this one. They also are the best as gameplay. MW19 felt great to play but Cold War felt worse.
Agreed, MW2019 was the first CoD I bought since original MW2. The animations, sound and attention to detail just made the guns feel so much batter than rivals. I really hope ground war is better this time around, because that's what I played the most being a Battlefield player. Never expected there will be a day where I hope IW delivers good large scale experience because dice is a dying dogshit studio.

holy shit this latest event is awful. the "limited time mode" is a knock off of a mode they do in vanguard but somehow worse. the way the mission is set up its 10x easier to play as a villian than a hero. beyond that you can just buy points, which as it stands is about 10k for 500. for those not in the know, 10k is almost the basic amount you can find on the ground for the most part and missions pay out 150k-500k. so if you finish even a basic mission and then spend all your earnings on points in the hero/villian bullshit you will be guarantted 20k points for your "side'

And here I am upset at the game mode because I want to pick up the guns/perks, not some fucking hero/villain token that is somehow always in the fucking way.

To reassure players that Vanguard is in fact a World War 2 game, the devs have added in a laser rifle.
And a pixel variant of it.

I thought it was a mod or unfinished textures.

As much as people ITT are bitching about the laser rifle, its genuinely the most creative thing the studios have done all year, the attachments truely are mostly different and you can turn this gun into a sniper, marksman, or burst rifle. i assume the forced tracer rounds was meant to be the major drawback of the gun but its legit the funnest part of the last year. just the concept is cool as shit but its definitely something that feels like something from a better game franchise. Honestly it gives me massive "morph gun from Jak&Daxter" vibes, with the multiple different forms all in one gun. literally all thats missing is the shotgun and launcher modes.

on a side note what the fuck is a marksman rifle? it has the worst qualities of a sniper and an ar. unless you're king of headshots but even then i find myself having to two or three shot when i could one hit kill with a sniper.

On a more important note, this fucking island was only in use for less than a year, they would have been better off keeping the verdansk map and the 1980s theme. the island fucking sucked, the terrain and different altitudes meant way more space when you could barely find people on the map as it is in the first 1/2 rounds.

the fast travel was a fuck load better, but the altitude mean vehicles were fucking useless or way slower than they should be. you can't outrun the gas now either which combined with the natural "wait until last minute' mentality of players meant most players killed themselves basically.

warzone 2 will probably suck more, it feels like BR is on the way out. the changes they're making means it probably will suck more. i fucking loved plunder but no way in hell will they bring that back. they're forcing missions for loadouts in the 2nd one as well (because somehow the high cash requirement wasn't obnoxious enough of an obstacle?)

Beginning with Ghosts, they just took the semi-auto rifles that have been in COD from the beginning and game them their own class. The idea was to be better at long range than an assault rifle, and better at medium/close range than a sniper.

Back before Gunsmith made it possible to make every single gun a zero-recoil laser, thus making the semi-auto guns obsolete, they were really good for hanging around at medium/long ranges and controlling zones.

I can't stop smirking at just how abruptly they seemingly gave up on Vanguard. Just out of the blue one day they were in the 70's and everyone was killing each other, and then out of the blue there were laser guns and random bad guys from other timelines.

They didn't even try to say there was a time/dimensional warp like they did with the 80's Zombies showing up in 2020 Verdansk. They literally just stopped giving a shit and threw whatever they thought would sell into the game with no explanation or care.

I'm still flabbergasted at the anime gun blueprint. In WW2.

That's what the Allies, sorry MY TEAM, listened to while storming the beaches of Normandy.

It's like Sledgehammer saw what DICE fucked up with Battlefield V, and made it their goal to desecrate the setting even further. If this sort of thing is what we can expect from future games set in past conflicts, then I hope we never see anything pre-Desert Storm ever again because I can't stand the thought of WWII or Vietnam getting fused into some shitty Fortnite abomination.
