Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

I'd love to try World at War again, but there's too many hackers roaming about. If they don't derank you, they fly around like gnats. And I'm not paying $25 for 10+ year old maps for a game with limited population as is. Oh, and the DLC maps are in rotation anyway.

I treat them the same way in dead by daylight. If you're wearing any pride shit, you're a priority one target.
I take pride in teabagging them. It's only fair.

I'm perfectly willing to pick up literally anybody I kill in DMZ, but if you run that pride shit, I will go out of my way to deny the revival by opening up your pack again. There's a metric fuckton of free options for emblems and banners, pick something cooler than "I like pretending I'm a girl"

Interesting character, 1981: "He comes from an outcast clan of dwarves, deep beneath the Stonebreak Mountains. He's spent his life with a sword hanging over him, the fear that today will be the day that the Great Gate of Thorad-Du'ur that his clan guards will break, allowing the spawn of Orcus to overrun this world."

Interesting character, 2023: "He gets fucked in the asshole while dressed as a girl."

I still remember one match on my ps3 back in 2012 playing a regular game a hacker hopped into that turned into everyone getting their stats maxxed out and having the entire match in god mode flying around shooting people with unlimited bazooka rounds, good times. :story:

Just bought CoD4 for Xbox 360 with the free Variety Map Pack. I will be testing out matchmaking with various playlists. I was able to find one TDM match before disconnecting. When searching for a match in other playlists, the game freezes before giving me the "You must be connected to Xbox Live" message. May be related to the map pack I've downloaded.

CoD used to have region based matchmaking so you don't have to play with teammates who don't speak your language
But now lobbies in East Asian servers are all Chinese and Taiwanese
I miss shit talking with retards in my own language, not engrish or ching chong wen

I was able to find TDM, Domination, FFA, Search & Destroy with CoD4 during various times of the day. CoD4 is CoD at its simplest. Host migration is non existent; I would "lag out" the lobby because it would use my machine as host.

I get players from the UK regularly.

And I've encountered one hacker during several games. Not bad.

I gave MW2 (2009) PC a try. Matchmaking still works, but weapon stat tracking is broken. Since I barely played this at all and only ever reached level 4, I'm not able to unlock attachments for guns.

EDIT: Wait, I think being able to unlock attachments requires you to be level 6 or something.

The All Ghilled Up stealth level in CoD4 aged remarkablely well. It's incredibly tense having to sneak through a Russian occupied Priypat with two ghillie suited soldiers against an entire army and radiation around the map.

IW did their homework with depicting Ukraine in shambles after Chernobyl without shoving any agenda onto the player's face. Even if you don't know the real life event that inspired the level, the atmosphere is still eerie for the player to illustrate a once prosperous city now reduced to nothing.

After a few rounds of MW2 in multiplayer, some observations:
  1. It doesn't appear to be completely hacked to utter uselessness. There is definitely some aimbotting, but nobody flying around or deranking everyone.
  2. Graphics hold up very well, the only glaring thing being that the lighting isn't gamma-correct.
  3. Lag comp tech has gotten 1000x better since 2009. I really don't miss my shot never registering because I was on the wrong side of the ping.
  4. Gun sounds are horrible. They were bad at the time, and after a decade and a half, the fact that even budget titles like Marauders get it right makes the audio probably the worst-aged part of this game.
  5. Some of the maps are truly horrible. I hated that big mountain villa map on the PS3, and I still hate it today.

In CoD4, lag compensation was non existent. Kills may register a second later followed by lag spikes and sudden disconnections.

What does gamma correct mean?

Favela is the worst. That's the one that takes place in a Brazilian ghetto.

Wanted to ask; anyone fond of CoD: Ghosts? I admit, it's not my favorite, but I found Extinction to be fun, and the multiplayer was decent. Granted, those are my opinions; what do you guys think?

I liked the Snoop Dogg voice pack option. Maps were way too big. Rifles reigned supreme in meta. It was okay.
