Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

Black Ops: Cold War lets you play as "Bell," a classified CIA agent. You create your own redacted player profile included name, skill and gender. Non-binary is an option. That's quite clever given the theming, I'll give it that. I wish it wasn't on the nose for "forced representation.

CLASSIFIED would've been better.

Bell at the end of the day is a Russian Perseus agent who's been brainwashed.

Picking your bell to be non binary is incredibly funny because that means the CIA gave you the fucking John Numbers treatment

How much would it cost to buy each bundle in MWIII? I'm curious. I'm thinking $500.
No clue why would anyone bother doing that. Even if you do want to buy some, the most I could see being sensible (still not necessarily the best idea) is one skin for each team, and transferrable tracers that cover as many guns as possible, which should be coverable within three bundles (5.56, 9mm, 7.62x51). I'm not sure if there's a full up-to-date list of each MWIII bundle but, if there is, you could just add up how many points (who the hell thought CoD Points is a good currency name?) they cost total.

Shit-ton of S4 leaks, apparently it's black ops themed.
Reaper, Ruin, Nomad and Battery are battlepass operators.
There's a few leaks for the new BP skins, Nolan, Jet, Pathfinder and Soap have new skins
(The two operators pictured below are Nomad and Battery)

There's also a new weapon leaked, the Ruger PC Carbine

It’s cod, no one ever really dies.
I mean with Soap’s Blackcell Hector skin from S2.
The flavour text is “Well I wasn’t in that tunnel” so they’re aware and it doesn’t really hurt does it?
Who even takes the nu-MW trilogy lore seriously anymore? That's just too much to untangle.

I was recently replaying all my CoD games from 3 all the way to Infinite Warfare because I was feeling nostalgic and wanted to play my old games.

I couldn’t get a multiplayer game of 3, but I forgot how much I loved the campaign for 3. It’s so cheesy, but it feels like you’re playing one of those old war movies in video game form.

Call of Duty 4 is a classic in every sense. I think it aged quite well. The campaign is probably the most grounded fictional campaign in the entire series, and is really memorable. The multiplayer is really fun. Fuck being able to call in Airstrikes and Helicopters immediately as a round starts, though. Also I fucking hate Bog.

World at War is the zenith of WW2 CoDs and probably all WW2 games as a whole. The campaign really nails the harrowing and haunting depiction of war being hell, and does a great job depicting its hellish conditions with the usual CoD flair. I also wasn’t able to get a multiplayer game. Also zombies was my favorite in this game. I liked the initial concept of the undead army of the 3rd Reich and the whole underlying theme of the wonder weapons and Element 115 and secret Nazi experimentations and conspiracy theories. It was really more interesting before they decided to do all the multiverse alternate reality parallel universe Apothican whatever the fuck shit to appease “lore” YouTubers with their “Easter Eggs” which are not fucking Easter Eggs if they’re important parts of the overarching plot and are literally advertised when selling the DLCs, they’re just glorified storyline scavenger hunts.

Modern Warfare 2 was such a fun experience to play again. I like how much it changed the CoD formula but stayed relatively the same. The class customization was awesome and the maps were great. The campaign was enjoyable, but some things made no sense but you’re supposed to just hand wave it away because it’s a mindless action game.

Black Ops honestly is my favorite CoD game of all time. Replaying this again just felt like home. I love the campaign and I love the multiplayer.

Modern Warfare 3 is pretty much the same as 2. The campaign is not as good as 2’s and the multiplayer is basically the same, but I feel like it does enough to warrant being its own game.

To be honest, I wasn’t the biggest Black Ops 2 fan. I played a lot of it when it came out, but I didn’t praise the game as much as others did. Replaying the campaign made me realize I didn’t like it too much. I like the multiple different outcomes you can have, but I didn’t like too many of the missions (except for Karma, Colossus is such a cool location and I loved the entire mission) and Strike Missions were fucking bullshit and I hated having to play them to get a different outcome in the story. Also I never liked Zombies because I had friends who obsessed over it and the lore and it was just a really souring experience playing through it again. Plus I hated the Zombies’ maps in general.

Ghosts fucking sucks. I hated it when I came out, and replaying it just cemented why. The story is so fucking lame and came off as edgy bullshit that some kid wrote after playing MW and listening to Skillet and watching AMVs and shit. Just horrible. The multiplayer maps were so cluttered and poorly designed and the gimmicks to make the game more “tacticool” were mind-numbing and annoying to fight. You can tell this is where they stopped taking Call of Duty seriously because they added all the fucking stupid multiplayer VO shit and dude-weed pot skins and stupid Create-a Soldier shit. The only thing I’ll give it credit for is Extinction because it tried to do its own version of Zombies and was pretty interesting.

I also hated Advanced Warfare when it came out and I still don’t like it. The campaign is shit and a literal copy of Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. It was a slough to go through and Kevin Spacey as the bad guy was so laughable (even worse now lmfao). The multiplayer was spastic and poorly balanced and was where they cranked up the predatory microtransaction shit up to 11 with OP weapon variants and stupid fucking clown gear and the stupid limited time shit like the Red Baron retard helmet. The maps were shit and the movement was too erratic. The one thing I’ll give it is the EM1 is ridiculously fun to use. It’s so stupid I love it.

I sunk a lot of time into Black Ops 3. I hated the campaign because it was incredibly boring, and I didn’t give a shit for Zombies. However the multiplayer was actually fun, minus the Specialist shit that tried to ape Overwatch. The map design was really good and the gunplay was nice.

And finally Infinite Warfare. I also sank a lot of time into this surprisingly, and sealed the deal as my last CoD purchase. The campaign that people claim is “an underrated gem” I did not like. I thought it was boring and the characters were also. The only good one was E3N, and I liked the settings around the different planets and moons because I love sci-fi and astronomy. Multiplayer felt like a slower, hollow version of Black Ops 3 with shittier maps. However I actually liked the Zombies mode in Infinite Warfare. The “story” was gay and I didn’t give a shit about, but I liked the ridiculous settings they had and how much they paid homage to their designated time periods. It was witty and interesting, but that’s the only praise I’ll give it.

All-in-all 3, WaW and Black Ops were my favorite CoD games, with 4, MW2 and MW3 being honorable mentions.

Also WMD is my favorite mission, Grid is my favorite map, and the M16 is my favorite weapon (the AK47 a close second).

I liked MW3 multiplayer, especially because of the way they changed the killstreak system, you could help the team by focusing on the support streaks.

Same. In some way it reminded me of BSG and Halo 4 with the ship being like an aircraft carrier. I liked the aesthetic and the art direction. I said it countless times but I wish Infinite Warfare was its own IP, without the CoD framework. As for the multiplayer, it was a reskin of BO3 and I was already sick of the advanced movement. The multiplayer had some good ideas like the factions, I think they could have expanded on this in a sequel or its own IP but sadly the redditors and the bots downboated the IW trailer to hell.

Every time I play online in CoD4/WaW, the connection quality is usually subpar. I believe CoD4 has better hit registration/netcode than WaW, although I believe WaW is more replayable than CoD4. People say that CoD has always been copy and paste, they're correct to an extent. But, despite WaW having the same foundation as CoD4, the aesthetics sells the experience as its own thing.

I hated the Strike Missions. It's basically multiplayer maps with AI where you can control and command vehicles and units. AI there is crap, so you're basically swapping back and forth to progress. Boo. For a proper Zombies experience, you'd need all the DLCs as TranZit is a poorly executed map.

I'm one of the few that disliked Black Ops II as a whole. Story was forgettable, Zombies was overwhelmingly complex with its easter eggs, multiplayer is now infected by hackers.
