Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

It's just going to be another worthless CoD title added on to the pile of other worthless CoD titles that we never really needed (that being: everything after Modern Warfare 2).

It'll still sell a bazillion through UK sales alone though. It could be a two-hour video of Captain Price butt-flossing himself with the British flag, and it will still sell as long as it has "Call of Duty" on it.

MW3 is pretty fun, at least the survival mode. BO2 SP is pretty good, with MP being fun. Ghosts/Future Warfare are guilty pleasures to some people, BO3 zombies is phenomenal on the PC front. Infinite Warfare has a good SP, WW2 is a complete joke along with BO4. I haven't played the MW reboot, but I heard good things about it.

I think every game in a franchise has something to bring to the table, regardless of the quality.

Full video of the reveal. I will say this, thanks to diversity ideology pushed by corporate America, it has poisoned my mind. I was wondering if any of these non white tokens were there on merit or just there for diversity sake.

Also who the fuck are these livestreamers and why are they so fit and look like models by real life gamer standards. Just show me the gameplay like previous trailers and launch reveals would do.

A surprising amount of CoD streamers are also gym rats. If you want more "Gamer" looking fellows, look no farther than the pro scene with this absolute unit.

One of the best ARs last year, Arcitys.

In terms of the reveal, a lot of my questions were answered. Streaks carrying over is fairly balanced. Snaking, cameraing, and slide cancelling are being fixed before lauch. Sniping looks solid, and the weapons seem balanced (with the exception of the AK-74u, which has been confirmed fixed already.)

It's looking pretty good.

This is one of my favorite quotes from the series. I hope we see a flashback of Reznov again or that maybe he lived as I have read theories he is that guy on the computer terminal in Black Ops 1 that warns JFK and apparently knows Hudson as well.

Reznov:
Victory cannot be achieved without sacrifice, Mason. We Russians know this better than anyone.

There is apparently some super secret message that you get from the mission text in BO1 that implies he is alive.

He also shows up in Black Ops 2 but it may have been Mason's brain playing tricks on him since seeing Kravchenko again triggered the programming (evidenced by the fact that the segment of the game he appears in taking place in the eighties yet Reznov looks the same way he did in the sixties)

The server system in the PC versions of Cod 4 and World at War is superior to the matchmaking system in MW2 onwards.

There is a server currently on World at War that levels you up fast without some rank glitch. And pretty fast paced as well.

As for Modern Warfare 2, I luckily ran into a game in which some modder leveled everyone fast with each kill worth 133377 points. Otherwise it's all vanilla stuff. Having leveled up, more easier to play against people who have a wealth of experience as I started the multiplayer this year lol. I do hate it you can't play the game with a mouse and keyboard versus the Xbox gamepad.

As for Call of Duty 4, I don't understand why people want to downgrade a patch.

Modified code to level up quickly.

I'm glad they removed class level restrictions in later CoDs for custom games.

A mix of both would help matters.

console players would drop that shit like an EA game, and that's where activision makes most of it's money (just look at the numbers). just take the pad-pill, game's already designed for it anyway.

You know what, I wrote that post on a mobile phone and my message came out wrong lol.

Let me rephrase, I hate it when the game won't let me play with a gamepad as MW2 and WaW on the PC are designed for M+K only. I believe BO1 is where gamepad compatibility started but the fucking game is still worth $40, it is like 10 years old now and there is a new Cold War spinoff coming out.

Activision are more greedy whores than EA despite making more monies. EA once in a while at least made the expansion packs free for the old Battlefield games like BF4 and BF1.

EA Access helped as well. $30 a year for Battlefield content.

I do think Activision needs to reduce the prices of their older titles. Hell, make the DLC free so the population can be revived.

I think Activision wants the older games to die, as a way to force players into the new ones. Whereas EA takes the opposite approach, where they want you to play every game for cheap. Both companies have different views on company loyalty.

Honestly, I'm kinda torn on Cold War.

It does still look fun, and I like the return to the setting of the original BO. However, I can't help but feel that it feels like a step down from MW 2019 in terms of visuals and gunplay. Then again, I guess this is to be expected, as MW 2019 had a full three years in development, while Cold War, due to development troubles (SH wasn't getting along with Raven Software, so Treyarch was brought in to replace the former), has had only half that time.

Say what you will about MW 2019, but it was generally much more polished. The slower pace, more complex map design, and tactical approach didn't please everyone, and I agree that it wasn't perfect, but it at least knew exactly what it going for in terms of style and gameplay, and ran with it. Personally, once I adjusted to the difference in feeling, I ended up actually really enjoying it, to the point that, believe it or not, it is my third favorite in the franchise. Cold War seems to be trying to balance out that style with the faster run and gun pace that the series is more well known for, and I'm not quite sure that's the best decision to make.

Really, I just wish Activision, rather than forcing Treyarch into a project that they have less time to work on, instead just continued to support MW 2019 and Warzone for the rest of 2020, with Cold war not releasing until 2021. I mean, the game is still hugely popular and is selling extremely well, with the game seeing player counts at a level it hasn't had for quite a while now. Couple that with the battle passes and cosmetic DLCs (anime skins are my favorite btw XD), and Activision could've easily just continued with more seasons for MW 2019 and they still would've been hugely successful in terms of sales, while also giving Cold War the extra year it needs for polish and refinement.

I guess the yearly tradition of a new COD title every fall was more important, even when, for once, it wasn't at all necessary for the publisher to make money.

I've seen this floating around, and it's really not true. The graphics themselves are nearly identical, with minor changes in lighting and animations (in the alpha used at the reveal, the MP5 reload was identical to MW's). I do feel that some of the new animations have a bit more personality to them, especially if you compare the M4 from MW to CW's XM4.

Xclusive Ace went through it:
The only thing he consistently called out was a slight blurriness that has most likely already been fixed, otherwise it's simply art style changes.

In regards to gunplay, it's faster, more traditional arcade CoD. I personally prefer this style, others may prefer MW2019's slower pace. Neither style is objectively better, per se, it really is just personal preference.

I like the less cluttered look of CW's maps. I may actually enjoy the multiplayer this time around with the higher TTK and ability to not be flanked on at least two sides at any given moment.

Replaying the og modern warfares campaign. Ive only played 2, 3, and 4 but its surprising just how open the early games are. Oh sure its still linear but you're given some freedom in how you pursue your objectives. For example in the first and third middle east levels youre given the choice of advancing through the streets or going to a higher level and sniping at your enemies. Another example is the mission where you search for Al Asad where you can go into the houses in any order and the houses themselves have at least 2 entry points
