Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

Yeah Multiplayer is kind of shit. At first I thought I was just really rusty and bad, but there are points where I literally start shooting someone from behind, they turn around, and waste me in a second. IDK WTF is going on.

Edit: I've basically found, for me at least, the best way to level up is to ignore multiplayer and just solo Zombies. I was doing it mostly to unlock Park as an operator but found that pretty much I'm able to level up a weapon and myself by just getting to round 10 every time so far.

That was BO4 as well though, with 150 HP + armor

One of the worst things about BO4 was coming around the corner and spraying 3 guys with an SMG only to get killed. Which was fight you'd usually win in COD WW2.

I also got called a hacker by some guy because I had the play of the game, killing 4 or 5 people in a row using that Chinese bullpup I found.

Fuck the burst rifles, the M16 and AUG dominate each game, its so cancer

So this week they are doing a Double XP and Weapon XP event to celebrate the release of Nuketown map.

Apparently it was too fucking good for Zombies so they nerfed Zombies XP two days into it. With Double Weapon XP people are now making less than they did without it.

The BOCW subreddit is pissed, which is nothing new though. I have no idea how the greater community at large is taking it.

So I heard the theory that supposedly Perseus is a figment of Bell's imagination. Like he exists in people's heads as some sort of figure to motivate soldiers or something? So, Reznov again but without the game clarifying? I'm unsure how much of the theory is true so if anyone has played the game maybe they could elaborate?.

I'd bet good money that wasn't the intention. Perseus has actual associates and the big twist in the game kind of requires him to be an actual person. There is an actual "twist" pertaining to Perseus himself that is given in the bad ending though

Perseus isn't a single man anymore, but a collective group of Extremist Soviets intent on toppling the west and taking over the Soviet Union to make it great again.

Really enjoying the campaign, but the Cuba mission keeps shutting my Series X down.

It's not the most graphically impressive level of the game, so I don't know why it keeps choking my console out.

There's something fucky with Cold Wars graphics. I'm convinced it has something to do with resolution and special effects because I managed to only have one crash in a week once I bumped it down to 1080p on PC. (down from 3+ crashes a day)

They really need to patch it out because AFAIK you can't change resolution and stuff with Series X and PS5 right?

I'm playing on a 1080p tv, but the game shut my console down three times.

The only thing that might be straining is that I have raytracing enabled and the FOV slightly higher than normal.

The most funny stuff about the single player was the info about the development. How originally it was Sledgehammer and Raven, then Sledge fuckes off cause they had issues with Raven, so TreyArch came an worked on the multiplayer while Raven did the single player but also had to shoehorn the Nam missons that Sledgehammer made.

Goddamn this campaign is shorter than even MW2 while stealing at least two missions from it.
Haven't they also recycled a mission from Black Ops 3 in this game? I was watching a bit of the campaign on YT and I recognized the design of the room, it's like an outpost on the side of a cliff, I think.

You go back to Mount Yamatau from black ops 1 as Mason and Woods, but it's the first time they've been there, originally it was Hudson and Weaver. Decent mission too.

Have you gone in to the settings and turned off motion blur? The game seems to have been much more stable on my Series X since I did that, and it makes the game look significantly better. Also, this wasn't my problem, but apparently the Series X doesn't play well with the Xbox One version, so double check the icon on the games screen is showing the "Optimized for Series X | S" logo.

Now I'm seeing theories that they've lowered XP values on regular multiplayer as well.

Not going to lie, it felt like I was leveling up slightly faster before yesterday. I was gaining a level every 1 to 2 games now it feels like it's taking 3 to 4 and I feel like I'm playing better than I was at the start of the week.

First time caller, long time hater here; from what little I played of CW, I'm not sold on it. Performance issues left and right, the janky campaign, and the clearly unfinished multiplayer all serve to make this such a lukewarm entry in the franchise.
Also that slide is atrocious and removing mounting fucked me up more than once. If you're not drunk on pixie sticks, you're going to damn near always get killed right after you get a kill in a match. It's like they want all of the speed with none of the refinement.

Something about the animations also seem very "shorthand" to me. In fact, this whole game feels like it was cutting corners. Like the stim you use to recover health. You just quickly jab yourself. This is all fine and dandy when you're rushing in a fight, but everything seems to catered to a zoomer's sense of instantaneous action. At least with the MW stim, there was still speed along with the attention to detail. That's just one example.

I get that reducing costs and increasing profit is business 101, but goddamn is it obvious here. COD has fuck you money, why are they shortchanging the weapon licenses?

I dunno, I'm full of vinegar. I wanted to like this entry, but it just didn't grip me like MWs MP did.

I don't really have an issue with the burst rifles, they have a good risk / reward balance

But what makes them so effective is the low power scopes.

Even back in the COD Blackops 2 days there was a 3 round burst gun called the SWAT, it was the Sig 556.

Anyway the gun itself kind of sucked but when you put the ACOG on it the gun became a monster. All the bullets hit the same spot, and it fired quickly but the scopes pin point accuracy totally changed the dynamic of the gun.

Using the M16 with a low power scope feels the same way to me.

The lack of mounting really does seem like a huge step back. I've caught myself quite a few times going for it and doors and remembering neither exist in this came.

I'm playing on an Xbox One and I've had some performance issues as well, studdering awful frame rates, etc.... A quit or restart usually resolves them but I agree the game lacks polish.

I think part of it is that Sledgehammer studio ceased to exist and it was their turn to produce the game while Treyarch should have been making the next game.

I have my doubts that they're going to be able to put out a quality product annually with 2 studios vs. the 3 they had before.

I'm sure Activision would never let them but I feel ike they'd have to go to a Battlefield development cycle of every few years.

Raven also worked on the campaign. Activision has several studios working on each game.
