Can anyone explain the unending Christian spergery since covid?

  • 🔧 Actively working on site again.
"We wuz Jews" is pretty way out there (and spectacularly heretical) for Christians. More along the lines of British Israelites and Black Hebrew Isrealites.

If you're talking supersessionism that's a whole other theological matter.
not really, it's the same concept just projected forward.
I've noticed a rise in the sort of "epic crusader" larp shit in the last few years too. While there is definitely a large group of larpers, there is undeniably a growing group of honest, born again Christians.

It's overall a positive shift, as long as they don't get overzealous.
considering the Trump orbiters seem to be a combination of crusader larpers and vintage second/third wave feminists i cant see this ending up anywhere but total philosophical retardation. Them not having a proper grasp of theology and theory makes them less christian and more in line with the derp age republicans back in the early 2000's only with less unity.
Grifts are not only about money or clout, but also for human connection, sense of belonging and feelings of moral superiority. The morons doing this are loners who have nothing to their character other than their weird fringe ideology and by radicalizing themselves they attempt to maintain cohesion and feign camaraderie among their group
so you think it's like the old pedohunts but never ending and with no end goal but to streetshit all over the internet.
that actually checks out, lipstick liberal slacktivists but with christianity.

there has been a near constant politicized technically unitarian alliance of Christians who happen to be young men and i can't put my finger on it but they don't seem authentic about their faith.
Young men have rejected atheism because it's gay. Many are confused however on how this "Christianity" thing works. Some mean it, some don't.

It's largely, if not exclusively, an American thing.

I don't mind but I hate it when they come at European dissident movements, which are universally heathen in aesthetic, if not in belief. "Pagan fags, Christ is king". Why the need to put down your own people, your own history?

I guess it's because in the face of the horrors of modernity, each group has returned to their roots and Americans are much more inclined to embrace their country's Christian foundation. Fair enough. I just wish they were less zealous.

It’s a dead cat bounce, most of the people “saved” are just people coming back and very few new people are actually joining churches or converting. The numbers just dwindled so hard that a slight uptick is seen as exciting. Give it a couple decades and Christianity will probably be barely mentioned. Doesn’t help that many are trying Catholicism or Eastern Orthodox, the most fake denominations and the ones most guilty of diluting genuine belief into a pony show. Actually that’s not fair, the Pentecostals are slightly more guilty of it

It gives community where you otherwise may not have it. It eases the fear of the unknown, death, and helps you feel better about shitty things you've done. It gives meaning. People have doing this forever.
Christianity at its core preys on your fear of death
Can't we say that about all religion?

Likely a response to "Your god was nailed to a cross, my god has a hammer, any questions?" type pagan puffery popular some decades ago. The most cringeworthy sectors of the "vgh retvrn to evropa" vaporwave-right still see a fair amount of this.

Because they've seen what a secularist world has to offer over the last two decades: empty, vapid, meaningless hedonism, consumerism, and nihilism. They want something more.

I have never seen anyone wearing a Mjollnir pendant IRL that looked intimidating. The We Wuz Vikangz crowd got their whole notion of Norse paganism from playing Skyrim and choosing Varg Vikernes as their e-daddy.

Norse paganism (ot at least, its latter-day meme form) is a religion/worldview for Internet Tough Guys who would get tilted in a real fight.

On top of that, I'm a Christian not because I think it's "based" or "trad", but because I believe it to be the Truth. It's a conviction that surpasses worldly goals or agendas.

which always made me laugh. The entirety of "norse paganism" is summed up as:
"Let's follow this one eyed cripple who bums off of the kindness of strangers, who demands we do the same shit Jihaadists do so we have the chance to get into 'valhalla' which is really more like a shitty dive bar where we fight and drink and screw female angels Valkyries until it's time for the rapture Ragnarok, in which we are all pre-destined to be wiped from existence and die like complete mooks to a giant zombie dog who also teams up with a giant snake who kills our god of thunder like a punk bitch, all the other gods die bleakly and the world ends. BUT HEY, WE DIED (again) FIGHTING IN THE MOSTEST EPIC FIGHT EVAR (really we just got wiped out effortlessly)."

If these fuckers actually read "the sagas", they'd realize the Aesir and Vanir aren't badasses, they're punks who are predestined to lose in an almost comical fashion.

Christianity at its core preys on your fear of death. Covid was an existential threat for most people which made them comfront their mortality. It's not surprisingly that weak-minded people sperge out on Jesus Hopium after contemplating turning into worm food.

The closer you get to death the closer you get to Jesus. Just in case.

Are you also American?

EDIT: Why am I even asking? Your post encapsulates everything I just said. A bunch of cheap potshots taken because you were born into the right religion and the others are wrong.

Your heritage doesn’t matter. The actions of your governments and peoples confirm this.

Islam will Triumph.

Seeing Priests be arrested while Imams, Rabbis and BLM riots chimp outs were fine perhaps. Or even more likely is it's one of few avenues for people to oppose modern secular society with actual protections for your views against muslims or trannies, be it out of genuine faith in Christ, or a convenient shield regardless of their actual faith. I'm fairly certain most Christian Kiwis here are not a fan of the preformative fair weather "E-Christians"

I'm the only one in my family who goes to church and I've had disagreements about religion with them.

Try again, this time with something more substantial than platitudes you picked up on r/atheism in 2011.
